Chapter 286: 101. When you stand in front of the gates of Hell...【41/60】_2

Just like how they savored their "food", it seemed like there lurked in the depth of the corridor a creature that feasted on the fresh blood of vampires.

"Boom"

Murphy’s colossal and robust blood wings spread out like a shield, blocking the attack of the four blood claws that were lashing out at him. The wings then swatted outwards, throwing back his assailant, before grabbing and pulling back one of them by its leg in the grasp of "Death’s Grasp".

"Splat"

The Dark Step glided forward, the green oily blade piercing the heart of a fellow clansman.

The Blade of Death showed no mercy, as if the figure before it was not a brethren but a sworn enemy.

As Murphy pulled out his blade, the crazed vampire squirmed on the ground and screamed as if he was thrown into a heap of fire. Blue-green flames of purification sprung from his wounds, causing him to convulse and retract in pain only to be suppressed by Murphy’s indifferent expression and his pressing blade.

The blade slid into the eye socket, casually ending the pathetic midnight life, and also allowed Murphy to harvest a shriveled vampire heart.

This trashy object tainted by polluted spiritual energy and drained of essence, would not be consumed by any vampire with self-respect. Even so, Murphy found it a suitable dog food for his Star Realm Dire Wolf.

"Owoooo!"

From the dispersed starlight, a Star Realm Dire Wolf leaped out and chewed upon the vampire heart that was tossed at it, smacking its lips before swallowing. From the sharp teeth bared, it was clear that it enjoyed the taste of this bloody cuisine.

However, after singling out and slaying this clan elite, no achievements popped up.

This caused Murphy to frown, but he soon let it go, the "clan elite" that easily fell prey to his combo attack could hardly be considered elite.

To light up the "Proof of Warrior" achievement, he likely had to slay at least three opponents at the level of Jed.

Speaking of which, there should be a few more Guard Chiefs like Jed around, right?

Murphy thought, before spreading his blood wings at his back and shooting off like lightning towards the enemies in the deep darkness. He had a strong premonition that after clearing this corridor, his Gravekeeper’s swordsmanship should be able to advance to "Proficient" and his character level may also be boosted to 12-13.

Leveling up behind the Iron Body is indeed difficult, but the process becomes simpler once you know the right way to level up. The only regret is that the character levels in this "game" is merely aesthetics apart from looking good.

Only when you cross the power trials of every 10 levels can you really get a boost in strength.

Murphy realized early on that the accumulation of battle experiences and grind of techniques is crucial to personal strength, maybe even more important than the upgrade in strength itself.

"Whizz whizz whizz"

As the crossbow arrows shoot out from the shadows, Murphy, still on his vampire hunting spree, jolted, allowing his wings to fold back before predictably being pierced through by the arrows. Fortunately, since the blood wings are not physical entities, there were no feelings of pain when they were ripped apart, only the need for spiritual energy to restore and recover, causing his temporary loss of flying capability.

The vampire acted swiftly, upon realizing the dangerous killer lurking in the surroundings, he immediately retreated back into the shadows with his Star Realm Dire Wolf, retracted his aura while cautiously surveying around.

He saw a strangely shaped vampire stepping out from the depth of the corridor under the guard of four crazed and skinny companions.

This guy was several rounds fatter than your average lean and well-proportioned vampire, his noticeable ’general’s belly’ stretched the luxurious robe, appearing as if he was 10 months pregnant. A chubby vampire? Quite a rarity in the looks-conscious blood race!

This guy’s attire screamed luxury, just on his chubby fingers, he wore several rings, ostentatious and haughty. He even wore a miniature red-crowned hat on his small head.

He looked just like a walking treasure rack.

This chubby vampire was holding a red hand crossbow in his hand, not the low-level goods that Murphy was currently using.

The delicate gadget adorned like a night bat spreading its wings had a capsule-like main unit that enabled continuous shooting without the need to wind up.

The three crossbow arrows earlier that had nearly impaled his head came from this guy.

However, this fat guy was just as crazily delusional as the other vampires, swaying from side to side as he walked without a shred of dignity. What’s more, his belt was hung with a bunch of keys that jingled as he moved.

Like the bell on a cat’s collar, reminding the rats hiding in the dark of their impending danger.

Murphy squinted his eyes, and threw an area investigation towards what laid ahead, and information popped up:

Name: "Miser" Zac Butelesla Losenlu

Rank: Silver Body · Weak Blood Source (All attributes decrease by 30%)

Status: Confused Thoughts · Out of Control · Pampered · Slow Response · Dutiful

Profession: 13th Level Hunter / 15th Level Treasury Guard / Accountant · Loan Shark Specialty

Special Item: Blood Vulture Treasury Seal

Character Explanation:

[As the treasure keeper of the Blood Vulture clan and the most trusted accountant of the clan leader, Zac Butelesla increased the wealth of the Blood Vulture clan by five folds in a hundred years, while his personal treasury expanded by a staggering four folds during the same period.

Of course, you can hardly call Zac Butelesla a scoundrel for it, after all, his reputation in the loan shark circle of Cardman City is quite good.

For those who couldn’t return the debt, he never took their life. He would only send them to the mines of the Sinful Dwarfs in the Dark Mountain Range to slave till death, in order to squeeze out any remaining profit.
