The Blood Eagle Corridor lies beneath Blood Eagle Castle within the inner city area. Originally, the castle was a landmark of Cardman City, but after 400 years of continuous expansion, what was meant to be a vampire-esque castle eventually became a cathedral-like megastructure.
Including the lawn, garden, and subsidiary buildings, Blood Eagle Castle alone occupies a fifth of the total area of Cardman City.
But now, all of that is gone.
The Star Realm Rift has almost completely swallowed the landmark building, leaving only a layer of desolate ruins. The good news is that the stairway leading to the underground Blood Eagle Corridor remains largely intact.
The bad news is that the deep lingering residue of Star Realm Spiritual Energy is still rampant.
By the time Murphy arrived here with his little players and militiamen, the witch hunters had already set a fire on the downward staircase to dispel the residual Star Realm shadows.
"A nest of Star Realm Scorpion Lions resides within, they couldn’t make it back when the Star Realm Rift closed. The female Scorpion Lion has made a nest here and given the availability of food, it may have laid eggs. Fire can’t kill them."
The fully armored old knight, with a full-faced bucket helm, and special oak heavy armor engraved with various religious sayings and runes, looking extremely heavy and cool, immediately drew the attention of the little players.
However, the knight’s news made Murphy frown.
The young lady next to him, wearing a heavy hood, glanced at the still-burning spiral staircase and whispered:
"The corridor below connects to the sewer system of the inner city. Your fire won’t do any good, it’ll only make the dangerous Scorpion Lions slip through the tunnels and become another big problem in this disaster-stricken area."
"I’m genuinely concerned for the future security of your land, Lord Murphy."
Old Finoc said in a teasing tone.
The expressions of the witch hunters nearby showed that these folks who have been dealing with evil creatures knew the situation below. They definitely intentionally set a trap for Murphy when choosing their territory.
But, now’s not the time to discuss this.
After the fire was extinguished a few minutes later, the witch hunters went first into the purified staircase, followed closely by Murphy and his companions and the little players.
They passed through the underground spiral corridor, reaching the main hall of the corridor after descending for several minutes.
The Scarlet Stone Doors shimmered with a faint phosphorescent glow amid the darkness, signifying it was an artifact of spiritual energy and had been sealed from the inside. It could not be opened without a key.
"Please."
The old knight stretched out his hand in a gesture of politeness and passed the Desire Fragment, which he had been keeping, to the young lady.
She stepped forward holding the Great Royal Seal in front of her. Standing on the three-ring charm in front of the corridor door as helpers, Murphy and Adel, members of the Blood Vulture Clan, maintained the same posture.
Her finger was pricked by the rough edge of the Desire Fragment.
Droplets of treacly midnight blood oozed out, transformed into beams of scarlet light under the effect of the spiritual energy ritual, and pierced the heart of the blood vulture emblem at the center of the stone door seal.
Murphy and Adel behind her, pricked their fingers with the ritual dagger, maintaining the same posture as the young lady.
The blood of their Vulture Clan was also transformed by the ritual into beams of light illuminating the eyes of the vulture emblem. Amid the anticipation of the little players behind them, the stone door issued a sigh like an old man’s, and then slowly opened with the dust curling around on either side.
What was revealed was not a grimy dark tunnel, but a beautiful corridor looking like a museum or a noble’s mansion.
The red carpet on the floor extended from the entrance to the front of the Descendant Hall, while along the corridor, exquisite stone statues, luxurious murals, and gem chandeliers suspended from the ceiling, sparkling with a jewelry-like brilliance.
"Damn! This is more like it!"
Happy Stick in the crowd said excitedly:
"It would be a disappointment if an old family that has ruled the area for 400 years didn’t have any treasures. Guys, if this operation goes well, we might get rich!"
"Those gems on the chandeliers are real!"
An ID named "Traveler Little Zhou" from the new players stared at the chandelier in the corridor and said to the person next to him:
"From the transparency and the angle of light refraction, they don’t seem to be fake. How rich are these vampires? Or, are these gems worthless in this world?"
"Heh, knew your specialty would come to good use, Brother Zhou."
With his eyes radiating excitement, Ayu put his arm around Little Zhou’s shoulder and whispered:
"When we seize this place, we’ll need you to help us separate the spoils. Btw, why is it that you’re the only one from the Geology Department? I invited your department sweetheart too..."
"Do you think that girl would waste her time playing games with us? She probably has someone licking her boots right now."
Traveler Little Zhou, leaning on his bayoneted soldier musket, rolling his eyes and ranting said:
"Isn’t it fun to change boyfriends every week?
Pssh! I was so blind before, spent all that cash on meals and flowers and stuff. The moment I walk into the hotel, she knew the place better than me, like she was returning home. That night, I felt like a gigolo...
Sigh, just speaking about it brings me to tears.
But, the guys from my dorm are waiting. It’s a pity the invitation code isn’t of any use. Less talk now, let the old players pave the way!"
