Chapter 265: 94. Work, work, what crap! Might as well play games【34/60】_2
Bull Bull spotted from a distance the cavalry carrying 120 militiamen from the Cardman Self-Defense Force approaching, quickly realizing that the action was about to begin, she promptly led her two followers to the edge of the crowd.
But when she turned around, she was dumbfounded to see Lumina carrying a case for a musical instrument.
"Are you smuggling an automatic rifle in that case?"
Bull Bull joked quietly,
"Why are you not carrying any weapons? Planning to accompany us in the instance and sing and dance to rap? Listen to my advice, girl, this isn’t a dance-off."
"These are my weapons. I’ve changed my job to Bard, my gun and everything else are in the spiritual energy bag."
Lumina proudly patted the elf flute attached to her belt and said,
"You’ll see when I buff you guys later."
"Yes, yes, it’s a hidden profession, very impressive indeed."
Little Wei Ming, munching on malt candies purchased from the NPC was at the side. Rolling her eyes, she sarcastically said,
"I don’t know who it was who was looking for sheet music for the flute in the middle of the night and made me go to mom’s piano room to find it for you in a wheelchair. Almost caused dad to think we had a break-in... you’re absolutely absurd."
"Shut up!! Didn’t I and Little Pomegranate spend all our savings at Lady Adel’s to buy you a powerful new weapon?"
Lumina scolded,
"You’re such an ungrateful person!"
"Heh."
Little Wei Ming sneered and continued to chew on her malt candy.
She’d never tasted such rough food in real life, but there was a unique flavour to it in the game. Bitter, then sweet.
This little dwarf touched the two exquisite crimson revolvers hanging from her belt and stopped complaining.
She really loved the firearm style in this game.
Especially these delicate and mysterious weapons, which perfectly catered to her taste.
These two expert-crafted, veteran-level handguns were bought from the secretive Lady Adel because of Lumina’s "face". It was fortunate Lumina got into the game early and had built "personal reputation" at Lady Adel’s place, or she wouldn’t have been able to buy such custom weapons.
These two revolvers were actually weapons used by Lady Adel during her professional era.
She doesn’t use them anymore and just keeps them as treasures. These were elite weapons custom-made by Young Lady in the weapons workshop in Westerburg for her.
The bullets were even customized.
They were sold to the little players only because of the respect for their senior, Sir Morphy. But the price was outrageous. To be honest, if it wasn’t for truly trusting Little Wei Ming’s marksmanship, Lumina and Sister Pomegranate wouldn’t have spent all their savings in the game for it.
"My warriors!"
Morphy, mounted on a war horse, had wrapped himself up tightly to prevent the current sun from burning his "delicate" skin. His elder’s armour and signature crimson cape attracted every player’s attention to him.
The witch hunters had already entered the inner city from the cracking on the other side of town, so Morphy wasn’t long winded. He simply pulled on the reins and shouted:
"Today’s battle is a small step towards reclaiming Cardman City, but a big step for our grand plan! Over the past period, you have proven your bravery and will to the world. Now, the unruly fate has thrown another major test before us."
If we can’t break through, this is where we end.
But if we win, this would be the starting point from which we make our names famous throughout the world, and establish an invincible legend!"
Warriors, I am proud to step into the battlefield with you, fighting for our future and that of entire Transylvania. I am confident we will laugh in the face of death at the gates of hell and share in the victory."
Now, Cardman Self-Defense Force!
By the privilege of my being the sole lord of this land...
Let’s move out!"
"Ding"
With Morphy making a classic sword-drawing gesture towards the inner city area on his horse, like a king, a plot task called "The Final Night of Cardman City" popped up on every player’s interface, issued by the main line NPC:
[Prologue·Cardman City’s Last Night
Task Five: Finale·Drowning in the past of blood and a tomorrow of victory within reach!
Description: The warriors have completed all feasible rescues in the ruins of disaster, defeated the shameless rebels with their courage and sacrifices. It is time to go deep underground and extinguish the last filth left on this dark land to truly and permanently help Sir Morphy gain control of this land.
Like the loyal invincible knights of the king, march forth with a clear conscience and full confidence! Win the ’victory’ laurel for your lord.
Goal: Advance to the Blood Eagle Corridor, complete the instance raid and defeat the Fallen Blood Eagle Clan Leader Salockdale.
Reward: Large amount of faction reputation, Blood Eagle Clan Warrior’s Chest X1, new plot unlock.
Failure Condition: Depletion of manpower from the Cardman Self-Defense Force and the witch hunters will be seen as task failure.
Failure Outcome: The survival camp will be exterminated and the server will be reset due to a wipeout.]
"Chao!"
The moment they saw the failure outcome, almost every player secretly cursed in their hearts, especially those old players who have been playing since the opening. They suddenly felt pressured.
The good news is, the players’ speculation was right. This game is player-driven in advancing the plot.
The bad news is, since it’s player-driven, it’s only natural that everything goes down the drain, including the effort put into establishing relationships with NPCs, when players suffer a big loss, right?
