Chapter 213: I hope you approach your own life with the same attitude!【16/60】_3

"Swoosh"

Miss, flapping her bat wings, glided down from above, landing on the dire battlefield where Murphy and Jed were engaged in a fight to the death.

The surrounding swath of carnage forced her to clench her fists involuntarily.

Having been born into privilege, she had never personally been pushed to the brink as Murphy had been, staking everything on a single victory, imprinting an indelible memory of battle.

She knew she shouldn’t interfere.

It was Murphy’s trial of strength, but still, she couldn’t control herself from hobbling towards the house of darkness, leaning on her Wand of Mystery.

"Well, well, missy, we meet again."

The familiar voice from behind made her stop in her tracks. Turning back, she saw the old knight Finoc, draped in oak armor, perched on a red warhorse with his hefty oak holy sword strapped to his back.

Her gaze tightened as she immediately raised her magic wand.

She felt like she was falling into the same trap as Murphy, forced to fight an impossible enemy for survival.

"Men fight for survival, ladies should stand on the side, watch on, and prepare to bestow blessings and kisses upon the victor."

The old knight murmured,

"This is not your fight, step back. Don’t waste the Vampire Murphy’s intricate arrangements. Heh, I thought you were the hidden danger in these ruins that I should pay most attention to, but after witnessing what just transpired, I suddenly realized...

Even among your current little group, you’re far from being the leader!

Murphy!

Very well, I will remember this name."

"Boom"

On the battlefield behind miss, the wall of the dark house collapsed under the enormous explosion of spiritual energy. Jed, now a burnt creature soaked in blood, hobbled out from the darkness under her piercing gaze.

Murphy!

Could it be...

She noticed that he had already raised his magic wand.

But at the next moment, after Jed had taken two steps, the heavily wounded clan leader fell to his knees thumpingly. The Black Blade of the ceremony dropped from his hands and fell into a pool of blood.

Behind him, Murphy, who had only one arm left, was clutching a weakly beating Vampire’s heart. Beside him lied the headless body of his loyal Star Realm giant wolf and in the other hand, the clutched Blade of Yi filled with desire.

"I should have...... *cough*... not appeared at this moment..."

As Murphy coughed out blood, he said to Jed who was struggling desperately to keep his gaze on him from the ground:

"There are many ways I can kill you, Sir. But you’ve once helped me. Regardless if it was out of pity or mercy, I owe you a favor...

I want to honor your dignity one last time by sincerely attending your funeral.

R.I.P, Sir Jed.

Your ambition will be added to my journey with the transfer of this death.

I shall make good use of the strength you have left behind."

"Splat"

Jed seemed to want to say something, but as soon as he opened his mouth, it was blood that came out instead.

Afterward, he fell to the ground under severe convulsions. The sunlight turned him into a faded statue, granting permanent silence to this ambitious man in this land of ashes.

And Murphy...

He held Jed’s heart high up in his hand.

With blood smeared all over his face and traces of blood not belonging to him still lingering around his mouth, he attempted a genuine noble vampire smile to Miss.

Yet under the current circumstances, the smile seemed overly horrifying.

So much so that it inadvertently made Miss take a step back.

She had never seen such a ferocious vampire. It seemed like this was the pose the blood race should be in on this malicious continent.

It was a pose that ripped off all elegance and pretense, exposing the inner ferocity and venom in a beast-like manner.

Miss suddenly realized, even being a vampire for so many years, she did not understand the power of midnight’s grace as much as this little over one-year-old blood race newcomer.

However, behind her, the old knight suddenly applauded, his horseback.

He loudly hailed:

"Congratulations, Vampire Murphy, I applaud the victor. Perhaps it’s also time to sound the death knell for the malevolent threat! You are a potential danger and I must..."

"Swoosh"

Something was kicked by Murphy under the hooves of the old knight’s horse.

The object under the sunlight sparkled a crimson glow, causing Finoc to squint and dismount to pick it up.

"A key for you! But without the help of the last few Sons of Blood Vulture, you can never enter the corridor."

As Murphy coughed, he said,

"this thing will buy us a life. Is it enough?"

The old knight did not respond.

He picked up the shard of desire on the ground and took one last glance at Murphy and the stunned Phemys after confirming its authenticity. Then, he mounted his horse and left without a word.

"Ha..."

Murphy grinned.

In his dizzying weakness, he fell onto the ground but was caught by Miss who arrived in a flash. He could no longer hear Miss’s anxious calls. However, before he slipped into unconsciousness, he saw what he had always sought:
