Even at the BBQ stand, you’d gobble them up. Plus, the cheeks are the softest part; you’re quite the chef yourself. Here, take a taste.”

Left with no choice, Lu Weixi could only take a bite. She hadn’t expected that the moment the fish entered her mouth, she would feel like her insides were being turned upside down. She immediately set down her bowl and ran to the bathroom with the speed of a sprinter to throw up thoroughly.

After emptying everything in her stomach and flushing the toilet, she rinsed her mouth, ready to return to her meal, but the mere smell of the fish caused her to vomit uncontrollably.

Hearing the commotion, her mother couldn’t help but come and check. Upon seeing Lu Weixi retching over the toilet, even though her stomach was empty, possibly even throwing up last night’s dinner, she continued to gag in discomfort.

Standing at the doorway, her mother suddenly thought of something, “You…aren’t pregnant, are you?”

Her reaction was exactly like when she was pregnant, especially toward seafood, which she absolutely loathed.

But it was a bit shorter than usual.

Who knew that upon hearing this, her mother became even more frightened, “Then you might have stomach cancer or something wrong with your intestines… after all, cancer can be hereditary.”

“Mom, don’t scare yourself. I will get it checked tomorrow first thing in the morning; how about that?” Lu Weixi quickly comforted her, “Besides, I’m so young, even if it’s hereditary, it’s unlikely to be an advanced stage disease. It’s treatable. Don’t worry.”

Her mom, still concerned, nodded, “That makes sense. Make sure you go early tomorrow.”

Dinner was obviously out of the question. She barely managed eating a couple of biscuits; just the smell of fish and it felt like her stomach turned inside out, so she had to throw it away. After tidying up, she persisted in finishing her work before finally resting.

Alone at home, she looked at her phone. After the divorce, she had not contacted Zhiyou again. Having deleted him from her contacts, she could only check Zuoyou’s Weibo managed by his assistant. He was updating it frequently, and the last few posts showed he had returned to Yan City. He seemed thinner, but still spirited.

Lu Weixi glanced at it once or twice, then closed Weibo. What difference would it make looking at it? They were already divorced.

Following her mother’s advice, she really did get up early that morning, not daring to eat anything. She went to the university hospital for a medical examination.
