As the server cleaned the fish, the intense fishy smell along with the blood smell burst forth, making Lu Weixi almost faint. After the fish was cleaned and put in a zip bag with a price tag, her mother took it and saw her daughter’s face turn pale.

“Xixi, you really can’t go on like this,” her mother was also alarmed. She only had this precious daughter and absolutely couldn’t afford any mishap. “Tomorrow, you must get a check-up, understand? No matter what the issue is, you need to go first thing in the morning, and don’t go on an empty stomach.”

Her fear stemmed from the worry about cancer genes being hereditary, who knows if her daughter might be affected. Her daughter had been under a lot of work stress lately and had also gotten divorced; her body was definitely weakened, isn’t that how illness could strike?

“Okay okay, I understand.” Lu Weixi nodded, holding the zip bag with two fingers and placing it far in the shopping cart. As they passed the sanitary products section, she suddenly stopped, “Mom, I’m going to buy a couple of packs of sanitary pads. It’s almost about time.”

She used to have very regular 40-day cycles, lasting six to seven days. The old Lu Family house definitely would not have any sanitary pads since her mother was old and she hadn’t been living there regularly, it was indeed time to prepare.

After shopping, they drove home. Recently, Lu Weixi had also gradually learned to cook herself. The bass was fresh and only needed to be steamed with ginger, garlic slices, green onions, and seasonings like light and dark soy sauce until cooked, along with a few simple and refreshing dishes.

Cooking was fine, but when it came to eating, despite the delicious fragrance of the steamed fish, which was a type with minimal fishy smell, Lu Weixi couldn’t take a bite. Just smelling it made her feel nauseatingly sick. She picked up her bowl and forced herself to eat the cabbage.

Her mother thought she was saving the tasty bits for her and offered her a piece with her chopsticks, “Eat more fish, you’ve been working hard.”
