Chapter 1231 - Chapter 1231 Chapter 1234 See You After Dawn (15)
Chapter 1231: Chapter 1234: See You After Dawn (15) Chapter 1231: Chapter 1234: See You After Dawn (15) Lu Weixi was stunned, “How could you…”
Although this time the divorce had been settled, during the previous round of negotiations with Qin Zhiyou, she had informed her mother, which also gave her mother quite some time to process. She should have instructed her mother to never divulge the news.
“It’s not that. I guessed it,” Zhao Zihao naturally felt the need to explain, “I noticed Aunt Lu was in a good mood lately, originally her condition was a bit unstable but she worked hard to overcome it herself. Moreover, she was telling everyone about her plans to be discharged. The previous incident involving you caused some chaos at the hospital, and although Aunt Lu didn’t say much, she was actually very worried. Plus, some of the patients also had their complaints. Seeing her so happy this time, I wondered if it could be related to this matter.”
Lu’s mother was in a single room, but the last time, with reporters and spectators, it was indeed a bit of a disturbance, and Lu Weixi felt slightly embarrassed. But the matter between her and Qin Zhiyou, after all, was their own business, and she had no desire to gossip with Zhao Zihao.
“Sorry, it seems I was overthinking,” seeing that she did not wish to answer, Zhao Zihao also smiled. Lu Weixi bid him farewell, and as she walked to the door, she seemed to faintly hear him say something behind her, “It’s fine if it’s not true.”
She slightly frowned but didn’t go into detail with him, and simply left the hospital.
This time she didn’t return to the company, nor did she go to the old house or the West Mountain villa, but instead, she went to the Lu family’s old residence. Previously, she had hired housekeeping to clean up, but recently due to the holidays, there was a shortage of staff, and her reservation had been delayed for a long time. Seizing the opportunity today, she decided to clean it herself.
The old residence hadn’t been lived in for a long time, so first she needed to sweep the floors and wipe the tables to clear the dust. The bathroom and kitchen also required thorough cleaning. She also took down the curtains, washed them in the washing machine, dried them, and replaced the bed sheets and quilt cover. The weather was nice today, so she even dragged the quilt out for some sun.
For lunch, she casually ate a fast-food meal by the roadside, and in the afternoon, she had to mop the floor, collect the curtains, and put away the replaced bed sheets and quilt covers. She also had to bring in the cotton quilts that had been aired out to put them back in place.
She cleaned from noon until evening. When everything was eventually swept and tidy, it was almost dark outside. She picked up her phone to check the time and suddenly remembered that Qin Zhiyou might go to pick up Lulu. She quickly gathered her things and left.
Just as she reached the door, she ran into Qin Zhiyou.
“Why are you…” She hadn’t told him that she was going back to the Lu residence; how did he find out?
“I went to the company, you weren’t there. Then I went to the hospital, didn’t see you there either. I called the old house, and Aunt Hao said you didn’t come back. Called West Mountain, no answer. I figured, the only place left you might come to was here, so I drove over.”
Lu Weixi nodded in acknowledgment, not having expected Qin Zhiyou to actually come looking for her here, so she locked the door and went back with him.
Throughout the drive, Qin Zhiyou was behind the wheel, but he never asked her why she went back to the Lu family’s place, nor did he inquire if she’d been to the hospital. Back home, Lu Weixi cooked dinner, with Qin Zhiyou helping out by doing the dishes. Neither of them felt uncomfortable asking questions. After the meal and cleanup, Lu Weixi mentioned she had work to catch up on, and Qin Zhiyou nodded, encouraging her to get it done while he headed to the study.
Though they hadn’t grown any closer, Lu Weixi could feel that he truly trusted her and wouldn’t pry. This slightly distant kind of consideration was just right, a pity they were already divorced.
