Lu Weixi did indeed “picky” take a bite. The noodles were cooked to just the right firmness, and there was even a handful of bok choy added. Once the soft-boiled egg was pierced, the yolk flowed out, wrapping around the noodles in a delicious and refreshing way.

This was, in fact, the first time Lu Weixi had tasted something personally made by Qin Zhiyou. In the past, whether she was studying domestically or working abroad, with short-term study experiences included, there were always servants around her. At the company, in the ancestral home, or at her own place, there were always servants to take care of her. Judging by these instant noodle skills, it looked like she had practiced deliberately.

“How is it?” Qin Zhiyou looked at her eagerly from the side, and Lu Weixi also replied, “It’s alright, not bad.”

Qin Zhiyou nodded and said no more, quietly waiting on the side.

She quickly polished off the bowl of noodles, and after she was finished, Qin Zhiyou even passed her a wet wipe, and a piece of mint-flavored chocolate. Lu Weixi held it in her mouth, watching him take the noodle bowl away: “I’ll go clean up.”

Lu Weixi stretched out her legs comfortably, waiting on the side, but after a few minutes, he still hadn’t come up, so she wrapped herself in her clothes and went downstairs.

As soon as she got to the bottom of the stairs and glanced toward the dining room, she saw several portions of instant noodles laid out on the dining table, along with seven or eight eggs. She didn’t know how many Qin Zhiyou had previously gone through, but it must have been quite a few.

Qin Zhiyou, halfway through eating, looked up with surprise upon seeing Lu Weixi come down: “Why are you here?”

As he spoke, he swallowed another egg. This one was obviously undercooked, with the egg white not completely set. Seeing her gaze fall on the egg, Qin Zhiyou stated with calm composure, “You know our family’s motto, no waste. Anyway, I’m a man, so I figure I can eat a few extra portions. I’ll clean this up later, you go back up first.”

Though he clearly still portrayed himself as a miser with unpleasant speech, Lu Weixi felt a heavy and swelling feeling in her heart, slightly acidic yet tender.

Without a word, she walked over, picked up a bowl of noodles that hadn’t been touched, and stuffed it into her mouth. The noodles were indeed overcooked, mushy, and shapeless. She picked up a piece of egg that was salty and bitter, with the edges burned, but for some reason, it tasted even better to her than the previous bowl of soft-boiled egg noodles.

After she finished one bowl, she moved to take from another bowl. Seeing this, Qin Zhiyou immediately snatched it away: “You can’t eat any more, or you’ll get a stomachache later, and then I’ll have to take care of you.” Then he gobbled it down himself.

After he was done, he was wiping his mouth with a napkin when he turned to see Lu Weixi gazing at him steadily, her eyes deep and serene.

He dared not look any longer and quickly began tidying up the messy bowls and dishes on the table, washing and cleaning them thoroughly, while Lu Weixi supervised, watching as he scrubbed the kitchen spotless.

As he placed the last dish in its spot, she suddenly leaned in to kiss him. When they parted, Qin Zhiyou had a look of disgust: “Your mouth is all instant noodle flavor! It smells awful!”

His words may have sounded nice, but his kiss had been much more enthusiastic than hers, almost as if he wanted to swallow her whole.

Lu Weixi leaned forward, only to be kept at bay by his finger pressing against her forehead, pushing her to keep her distance: “There are grease stains on your clothes! It’s filthy, don’t rub up against me.”

As if he had room to talk, she didn’t even mind that his clothes were covered in dish soap, and yet he dared to complain about hers?

But as she turned away, Qin Zhiyou wrapped his arms around her from behind.
