Chapter 1210: Chapter 1212 Destined by Heaven (10) Chapter 1210: Chapter 1212 Destined by Heaven (10) Qin Zhiyou rose early, and her right eyelid kept twitching.
As the weather forecast had predicted, that night in Vancouver, the temperature plummeted, and the fierce winds brought a mix of rain and snow–winter had truly arrived. The next day, a thick fog settled, and the rain that had started last night hadn’t evaporated quickly. Instead, the ground was now thinly coated with ice. Qin Zhiyou turned on the hotel news, and the weather report was cautioning that roads in the suburbs were slick and drivers should be careful.
Yang Mogui wasn’t paying any attention to the changes in the weather–she was in a good mood today. Though she had been up for most of the night, adding two more wrinkles to the corners of her eyes, after this incident, she felt certain that custody of Qin Zhiyou was securely in her hands. Moreover, she could use this situation to pressure Qin Weizang and get the lawyer to demand more money.
She leisurely dressed herself up and, after washing up, went to a nearby restaurant for a hearty English breakfast. Satiated, she frowned at her clothes from yesterday and decided to buy a new outfit at a nearby mall to better negotiate with the lawyer upon their arrival.
It was lucky she hadn’t forgotten the little pest by her side. While shopping for clothes, she asked, “Why are you so dirty? Want me to buy you a new set of clothes?”
Qin Zhiyou didn’t speak. Yang Mogui glanced at him once, then again. “How did you cut your lip? Where on earth did you go last night? Your face is all bruised.”
Only then did Qin Zhiyou touch the corner of his mouth and look into the dressing room mirror. There was a distinct cut in the center of his lower lip that had not healed even after a night. He felt in his pocket; the sugar figurine he hadn’t finished eating the night before was still carefully wrapped in a tissue. He pinched off a piece and tasted it–sweet. But as he chewed, he felt grains of sand. Even with the sand, he couldn’t bear to throw it away, and continued to hold it in his mouth. It was like the relationship he had with Lu Weixi: with sweetness and grit, but he couldn’t bear to let go.
“What’s this garbage? Your clothes are too dirty; let’s just buy you a new set,” Yang Mogui said with clear disdain. She was about to call for an attendant to pick something out when she suddenly thought, looking this wretched would better show how pitiful he had been running away from home yesterday, and how detestable Qin Weizang was, which would surely earn them more.
“Forget buying, let’s go.” Qin Zhiyou ignored Yang Mogui’s words and just headed out to the car, where suddenly his shoelace snapped.
What was up with today, first a twitching eyelid now a broken shoelace. Yang Mogui didn’t think much of it, nor did Qin Zhiyou. They got in the car, which swayed all the way back.
But the road was especially congested today, so congested it seemed on par with China. And it wasn’t just the city–the traffic jam stretched all the way along the coastal highway. Yang Mogui wasn’t worried about anything but being late to meet the lawyer. She made a call, and the lawyer wasn’t in a rush, saying they had tried calling the villa but nobody had answered.
No answer could mean Qin Weizang was still out looking for his son. When Qin Zhiyou went missing yesterday, Yang Mogui had thrown a massive tantrum, scolding Qin Weizang from start to finish, pinning all the blame for the boy’s disappearance on him. Normally, Qin Weizang always argued with her, but yesterday, he took her insults and hits without uttering a word, apparently regretting the loss of his son and feeling responsible.
