Throughout the journey, Qin Zhiyou drove while she rested her elbow on the door and propped her chin, looking out at the scenery since there was neither need to pretend affection nor to force a false facade.

However, when they arrived at the old house and it was time to get out, for some reason, the buckle of her seat belt seemed stuck. Lu Weixi furrowed her brow and turned her head to unlatch it, but the buckle didn’t budge and ended up even tighter.

At that moment, she didn’t want to bother Qin Zhiyou. Twisting her body awkwardly, she tried to unlatch it herself, but to no avail.

Just as she was struggling, a shadow leaned over and a strong arm extended towards her, circling her body. Lu Weixi paused, facing Qin Zhiyou’s calm profile. He wasn’t looking at her and frowned, obviously annoyed by her fidgeting. Ignoring her fiddling only made it worse, wrapping the strap tighter, and forced Qin Zhiyou to lean in closer, his lips nearly brushing her cheek.

Since their last quarrel, a long time had passed without any close contact. She felt no fluttering of the heart or confusion, just a slight awkwardness.
