My ‘Healing’ Game -
Chapter 88: Birthday Gift
Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Birthday Gift
Han Fei found Ying Yue, who seemed as old as Lele, both of them pitiful children.
"Can you hear my voice?"
Holding the fragmented girl, Han Fei’s compassion overcame his fear, and he spoke all the words he had been meaning to say.
Having learned about the girl’s past, Han Fei felt even more that he couldn’t fall here, he had to avenge this child.
The landlord’s ring emitted such a coldness that it nearly froze his fingers off, yet Han Fei still did not let go, feeling that since her biological parents had accidentally died, the child might not have been genuinely embraced by anyone since.
"You don’t need to believe me now, I will prove everything with my actions."
Watched over by eyes dripping with blood in the room, Han Fei still kept his composure, those eyes unable to discern whether he was lying.
For Han Fei, those gazes didn’t really matter. He just needed to protect the child in front of him.
With whispered comforts and patient explanations under the gaze of those eyes, the fragmented girl in Han Fei’s arms suddenly reacted.
Her bodily bones began to twist and deform, appearing more like a monster than a living person.
"Why is this happening?"
The resentment and pain in the girl’s heart brought her to the brink of losing her sanity, yet Han Fei still did not let go.
The sharp shattered bones pierced through Han Fei’s wrist, making the girl’s face more terrifying.
Dark veins surfaced on the girl’s body, her lips began to quiver gently, and just when she was about to completely lose her sanity, a voice suddenly emanated from her body.
"That was my birthday gift."
"Birthday gift?"
"You took everything else. Can you leave the last gift my mom and dad gave me?"
"Ying Yue, what was the last gift your mom and dad gave you?" Han Fei decided to follow Ying Yue’s words, hoping to discover something.
"It was mine, my..." Ying Yue’s facial expression grew more ferocious, black veins linked her shattered body into one whole, and with the sound of her heartbeats, Ying Yue suddenly opened her eyes!
Two black holes, eerily staring at Han Fei, the only place in the room without pupils was Ying Yue’s eye sockets.
"Mine! It’s mine!"
The completely deformed bones in her hands embedded like chains into Han Fei’s body, Ying Yue’s neck made noises, her head erect before Han Fei as she continuously let out hysterical sounds.
Ying Yue lost her sanity, her pitch-black eyes drawing closer to Han Fei as if intending to suck his soul into her hollow eye sockets!
"Ying Yue! If I die, I won’t be able to avenge you! I won’t be able to bring the person who really hurt you here!" Han Fei shouted on top of his lungs, but the current Ying Yue was completely dominated by hatred and spells, her body turning into a pitch-black shadow, her eye sockets like cages imprisoning souls.
The room echoed with sobbing sounds, each crimson eyeball shedding bloody tears. If Han Fei didn’t leave, his eyes might also end up on the walls.
"I really want to help you, girl..." Han Fei knew he couldn’t stay any longer, he looked at those ever-nearing eye sockets and revealed a tender smile.
The unrestrained hand touched the girl’s head, and he gently rubbed her head.
As he felt a tearing sensation in his brain, Han Fei clicked the exit button and left the game.
A sea of blood engulfed his consciousness, Han Fei removed the gaming helmet, his heart still unable to calm down.
He couldn’t imagine what kind of horrible things Ying Yue had gone through, a girl who had turned into a monster no one could trust.
Ignoring his fatigue, Han Fei opened his computer to search for information about Ying Yue, hoping to find information about her case, but in the end, he only found a missing person notice about her.
"Seven years old, dressed in a red dress, cute and sweet-looking, but suffering from an eye disease, disappeared on North Street of Old City District..."
The missing person notice was from many years ago. Since the person had not been found, the dedicated missing person website kept Ying Yue’s information posted.
"The person who posted the missing person notice was named Ying Qingmei, the sister of Ying Yue’s father..."
Looking at the computer screen, Han Fei’s expression was somewhat frightening, "She seems to be living quite well?"
Han Fei really wanted to drag the other party into the "Deep World" of "Perfect Life" so that Ying Yue could take revenge herself, but unfortunately, he didn’t know how to operate it.
After much thought, Han Fei eventually decided to let the law punish those scumbags.
He approximated the criminal’s time of the crime, and organized all the key information including the plush toy corpse and Ying Yue’s last birthday gift, then anonymously provided the clues to the police.
"For cases without a bounty, it’s better to keep as low a profile as possible."
Once he confirmed that the police had opened the email, Han Fei went to bed and fell asleep.
But after only a short sleep, he was awakened by the alarm clock; it was time to go to the film set.
"Lucky my physical strength has increased a lot, otherwise I really couldn’t cope."
Han Fei arrived at the film crew and immediately got into work mode. He easily mastered the extremely complex character, shooting scenes in one take, with the staff and Director Jiang looking at him as if he was a monster.
Such an outstanding performance by Han Fei put great pressure on the other actors present. Acting opposite someone, if one always caused retakes because of their mistakes, it was definitely uncomfortable.
Han Fei’s acting, honed in life-and-death situations, impressed Zhan Lele and Jinnian. The same character, portrayed by Han Fei, felt uniquely real as if he had experienced the same despair and madness as Meng Changxi.
The morning passed quickly. Jinnian and Zhan Lele wanted to discuss the character with Han Fei, but found him holding a lunchbox from the film crew in one hand and a phone in the other, talking to someone.
"Li Xue, isn’t your police station on Happiness Street in charge of North Street of Old City District? Did you receive any murder cases this morning..."
"The plush toy corpse case? Wait, how do you know about that? Did you organize that clue?"
"Don’t make a fuss, definitely don’t tell anyone else," Han Fei lowered his voice, "I mainly want to ask about the results of your investigation, and also wanted to ask you to clarify something for me."
"Ying Qingmei’s daughter has a mental illness. This morning when the police went there, they didn’t have much trouble finding out the problem. Now the mother and daughter are under control, but Ying Qingmei’s husband fled the scene fearing crime," Li Xue finished discussing the investigation results, then added with some confusion, "The case is not complicated, what else do you want me to investigate?"
"What was the last birthday gift Ying Yue’s biological parents gave her?"
"I’m not sure about the last birthday gift, but I do know that before Ying Yue’s parents died, they left a special gift for the child... At the time, Ying Yue’s mother was seriously ill, in very poor health, and she had signed an agreement with the hospital, wanting to donate her corneas and any usable organs to Ying Yue after her death."
