My ‘Healing’ Game -
Chapter 256: To Be the Center of Attention in the Underworld
Chapter 256: Chapter 256: To Be the Center of Attention in the Underworld
"My heart!"
Eight limbs of Spider Flesh moved about in the operating room, Doctor’s chest and abdomen split open by the Rebirth Saber, countless black strands of Blood Silk converging on the wound, yet unable to heal it.
He clutched at his empty chest cavity, his face twisted in rage.
Items scattered all around the room, shelves toppled over, Doctor scrambled atop the ruins, he was the closest to the heart.
"He must be stopped," Han Fei also set his eyes on the heart rolling on the floor, but his strength was too meager, merely touching a Fierce Ghost would cripple him instantaneously.
In the face of a Large-scaled Grudge, his role was not to contest but to obstruct and hinder, taking the chance to weaken Doctor’s Power.
Using Beast Path Mask, Han Fei followed silently like a ghost behind the Doctor, with his saber in hand.
Those Pig-faced Monsters accidentally knocked down by Doctor, Han Fei also took the opportunity to strike, easing their painful existence.
Not only Doctor and Han Fei desired that half heart, many Outsiders had thoughts about it. They realized that as long as they got close to the heart, the curse from Beast Alley would be suppressed.
Furthermore, anything that drove the Doctor into such madness must be of paramount importance.
More and more people joined the fray for the heart, Doctor went on a killing spree, yet that could not deter everyone.
The monsters from Butcher’s house had all gone mad, outside were the bodies of Flesh Spiders, inside was the out-of-control Xu Qin, staying here was a dead end, fleeing meant enduring the torment of Beast Alley’s curse.
In such circumstances, seizing that benevolent heart was definitely a great option.
The chaos inherent in human nature was fully displayed here, a fragile alliance would instantly collapse once an antidote for the hopeless Curse was found.
With the Outsiders no longer blocking fiercely, the physical form of the Spider Flesh finally entered the building, the blood-drenched Writer eyed the heart falling from Doctor’s chest cavity, his body began to move again.
Flesh surged like a flood towards the center.
"You never die! Why can’t I ever kill you!" Doctor’s rage reignited, as he was drawn by the bulk of the Spider Flesh, Han Fei seized the opportunity to close in, slashing at one of Doctor’s limbs.
Blood splattered, and as the severed limb fell, distressed cries of Residual Souls seeking release echoed from that twisted flesh.
In just a moment of distraction, a limb had been cut off, Doctor was enraged beyond measure, he had never encountered such a despicable and sly enemy.
He wished to tear Han Fei apart, yet he didn’t have the time; any hesitation might allow the Spider to retrieve its heart.
Bearing the piercing pain, Doctor ignored everything, charging directly towards the heart enveloped by flesh.
Seeing that Doctor ignored him, Han Fei grew bolder, but just as he pursued Doctor, preparing for a second strike, the ring of the landlord on his hand suddenly emitted a chill, almost freezing his fingers off.
He halted in his tracks, shivering instinctively, Han Fei holding the Rebirth Saber turned to look somewhere as his pupils shrank instantly.
In a corner of the ruins, stood a pale-faced woman, emanating an aura akin to the ghostly silhouette drawing nearer to him in reality!
"Butterfly?"
Mere suspicion made Han Fei’s heart unrestful, he gripped the saber handle, gazing at her as he would in reality.
The chaos within Butcher’s house was overwhelming, yet that woman’s gaze was fixed solely on Han Fei, her expressionless face holding a book with its cover torn off.
On the floor of the room behind her, two other figures lay collapsed.
One was heavily muscled, his mask shattered, facial features flattened, his body seemed to have been crushed by immense force.
The other appeared to still be a student, wearing headphones, his neck marked with strangulation, eyes bulging, chest caved in significantly.
"Spider’s second alternate Personality, the Thug? And the Student Personality representing Spider’s inner longing for the outside world?"
Under Han Fei’s watch, the expressionless woman took out a mask and wore it on her face.
She made no attempt to hide the numbers behind the mask, and when it adhered to her face, Han Fei could barely make out the other half of Butterfly’s wing.
"Number nine? Spider’s reader personality?"
Among all the personalities, number nine was the most peculiar, so much so that even Spider’s psychologist was unable to determine whether this personality was the first to appear or the last.
She had always been entangled with Spider, from life to death, yet her presence was incredibly weak, almost like that of an outsider, deliberately ignored by everyone.
In the reality of the movies, the segment about the reader personality was also scant, often merely letters.
"Spider is the Writer, who wrote a book with his life; Butterfly is the reader, the only one in the whole world who has read this book."
Spider and Butterfly were mortal enemies, yet Writer and reader were partners in a soul resonance; because they understood each other, they both knew very well that they had to kill each other thoroughly!
When the ninth subpersonality appeared, Han Fei felt as if he had returned to reality, that ever-closer ghostly figure bringing an indescribable terror and pressure.
Spider’s Number Nine subpersonality must be the closest to Butterfly. The doctor decided everything overtly, while the reader observed in secret; perhaps the doctor didn’t even know that the other wing of Butterfly was the reader.
As the plan went awry and accidents occurred frequently, the ninth subpersonality finally stepped out of the shadows.
Guarding the Rebirth Saber before him, Han Fei had never been so focused. He still couldn’t exit the game, and if he fell into Number Nine’s hands, he might be taken away and imprisoned forever.
Number Nine’s gaze hovered between Han Fei and the heart, finally making a decision.
She tore a page from a coverless book and, dipping her fingertips in blood, sketched a simple depiction of Han Fei’s face on that eerie book.
After she finished drawing, fine wounds appeared all over Han Fei’s body, which began to expand over time, as if wanting to tear his skin apart directly.
"Curse?" Han Fei had not yet recuperated from the pain when the landlord’s ring on his finger emitted an intense chill again; he looked up to see that the Nine personality had not gone after Spider’s heart but was charging at him!
"Butterfly actually chose me over Spider?!"
He couldn’t understand how, at such a critical moment, the nine personality, beguiled by Butterfly, would abandon Spider’s heart and choose to kill him first.
"Could it be that in Butterfly’s mind, my threat is greater than Spider’s?"
Already feeling ill-omened under the curse, Han Fei knew his speed and power were far inferior to Number Nine’s, and it wouldn’t be hard for her to kill him.
"Yinglong!"
Han Fei pulled back with the saber in hand, knowing Yinglong might not stop the foe, so he made the worst plan in advance; while the curse hadn’t fully erupted, he ran towards Xu Qin’s position.
If he had to choose a way to die, he’d rather die by Xu Qin’s hand, so that if he turned into a ghost, he’d have legs to cling to and not just be a Lonely Ghost.
Running with all his might, Han Fei didn’t forget to check the situation inside the building while retreating; the doctor and the Outsiders were all chasing after that heart, but it seemed as elusive as if it had eyes, very agile.
It was getting closer and closer to the outside Flesh Spider, and just then, Xu Qin, who had just slaughtered the Pig-faced Monster, directly intercepted the heart on its inevitable path.
The curse and blood stirred up a wave, the heart wrapped in flesh immediately changed direction, seemingly seeking to meet the Flesh Spider from another angle.
However, as it changed direction, Han Fei, who was desperately running, coincidentally collided with it!
Feeling a sinking in his chest, Han Fei had not anticipated that he would collide full-on with half a human heart.
A moment of surprise later, cold sweat broke out on Han Fei, the landlord’s ring in his hand releasing a furious chill, nearly cracking.
Holding that heart, he looked around, and all the Ghosts and Monsters in the entire Butcher’s house were staring at him.
