Chapter 164 Against People
Chapter 164: Chapter 164 Against People
Blood trickled down through the cracks in the wall, and a faint smell of blood wafted through the air, making the hallway eerily quiet.
Han Fei didn’t know what had happened inside the dormitory building after he had logged off, and a very ominous feeling began to stir in his heart.
Not daring to linger, Han Fei cautiously walked downstairs, and when he reached the corner between the third and second floor, he faintly heard some sound coming from the fourth floor.
It was like a large bucket of minced meat being dumped on the ground, or like a box of live fish being thrown into the hallway.
The dull sounds of the meat chunks colliding with the ground were startlingly unnerving.
The scent of blood in the air intensified, Han Fei covered his mouth and nose, quickening his pace, but when he looked down from the second floor, his body froze in place.
At the corner between the first and second floor, there stood a person.
He simply stood in the hallway, his body somewhat deformed, back facing Han Fei, his face not visible.
"Something’s not right."
Walking alone in a sinister, creepy building was quite terrifying, but what was more horrifying was suddenly seeing another person in this creepy, sinister building.
Without rashly approaching, Han Fei retreated little by little.
"There are staircases on both sides of the dormitory building, I don’t need to keep deadlocked with him, the priority is to make sure Zhang Guanxing is safe."
Han Fei had thought to avoid the other person, but when he turned to cross the second-floor hallway, he twisted his head and saw a person standing in the middle of the corridor.
His back was to Han Fei, motionless.
"What the heck?"
Staring at the figure’s back, Han Fei slowly realized the distance between them was closing little by little!
"This guy isn’t quite like the ghosts and monsters I encountered before."
Han Fei had always followed the principle of not provoking others unless provoked, especially when his own safety was not guaranteed.
He slowly averted his gaze and glanced back into the hallway.
The figure previously standing at the corner between the first and second floor was gone.
But when he turned his head back, the figure standing in the second-floor corridor seemed even closer.
Han Fei recalled a game called "Red Light, Green Light" from his childhood at the orphanage, where the thing following him would draw closer every time he turned his head until it reached right behind him.
Keeping his eyes fixed on the figure, Han Fei backed into the stairwell, his hand on the wall, walking downward.
Due to the bloodstains and filth, the steps were slippery, and the strange noise from the fourth floor didn’t cease, while the blood stench in the air grew even more pungent.
Under these circumstances, Han Fei and the figure maintained a safe distance.
He slowly moved, and finally arrived at the hallway on the first floor.
The smell of blood was strongest in the first-floor corridor of the entire dormitory building.
The dormitory’s main door was covered with various objects, unfinished toilet paper rolls, blood-stained clothing, and some messy talisman paper.
The custodian’s office near the main door was also wrecked, all windows smashed, previously clean sheets now covered in bloody handprints, malicious "thank you notes" all torn up, and smashed fruits scattered on the floor, looking quite nauseating.
Initially, Han Fei had planned to go to the custodian’s office to look for keys, but now, being followed by that figure, he dared not get distracted.
Keeping an eye on the figure, Han Fei touched the wall and retreated back down the hallway on the first floor.
He and the figure always maintained a safe distance.
Counting the rooms beside him, when Han Fei reached the door to Room 104, he gently knocked on the door, "Zhang Guanxing? Are you inside?"
After Han Fei spoke, no sound came from the room, all was silent.
"It won’t happen again, right?" Standing in the hallway like this is very dangerous. Han Fei stared intently at the figure following behind him and whispered again, "Guanxing, it’s really me, I’ve told you before that whether boys or girls, they are all my students, I won’t give up on any of them."
After Han Fei said this, there were footsteps in the room, and the door was opened a crack.
"Teacher! It’s really you!" Zhang Guanxing was hiding behind the door, his expression shifting from anxious to excited in an instant, as if he had seen a long-lost family member.
"Being cautious is a good habit, you’ve done well." Han Fei entered room 104 with the Black Giant Python, only relaxing slightly after the door was shut.
"Teacher, I never thought I would see you again!" Zhang Guanxing was genuinely happy to see Han Fei, the surprise was hard to fake.
"In the time I’ve been away, has anything terrifying happened outside?" Han Fei, leaning against the door, listened attentively to the noises in the hallway.
"It’s madness, everyone in this dormitory building has completely lost their minds." Zhang Guanxing’s eyes flickered with fear: "The halls are filled with screams and cries, and all sorts of strange things have come out. Some room doors have been violently broken into, and none of the students inside could escape."
"With it being so dangerous last night, how did you survive?" Han Fei was somewhat surprised.
"I’ve been hiding in my room. Last night, someone came knocking, imitating a student begging for help. I almost went to open the door several times, but I managed to resist in the end."
"They?"
"I’ve been hiding in my room, too scared to go out, but I could hear three children’s voices, arguing and cursing at each other, malicious and cunning."
"That must be Ma Manjiang’s three children causing trouble in the chaos." Han Fei wasn’t worried about those three Little Ghosts, he was more concerned about Ma Manjiang himself.
The police said that Ma Manjiang had disappeared a long time ago, and Han Fei wasn’t sure if he could encounter Ma Manjiang in the game.
"Those three children seemed particularly focused on the students of Yimin Private Academy. They seem to be able to sense the location of all the students. I must have escaped by luck because I had been expelled." Zhang Guanxing was clever and careful, a promising youngster who had previously taken the wrong path.
"When did the chaos outside stop?"
"A few hours ago," Zhang Guanxing thought for a moment and added, "Before the chaos stopped, the dormitory’s main door was opened once, and it seemed like something else came in."
"Something new came in?" Han Fei recalled the figure he had encountered in the hallway, "Guanxing, have you ever heard any ’Kaidan’ like ’standing with back facing people’ in school? I just saw someone in the corridor who was standing with his back towards me, following me."
"I heard a freshman tell that story, but I thought it was just a story!"
"A freshman told it?" Han Fei thought that the freshman Zhang Guanxing mentioned was Jin Sheng, "Tell me more about it."
"Our school used to have a senior student who really liked a girl at school, and she initially liked him too, so they got together."
"The senior’s family situation was poor, his parents were divorced, and his father had severe violent tendencies, often hitting and scolding him. For the senior, his only family wasn’t his father, but his girlfriend."
"He shared all his grievances and pain with the girl, and swore he would make her happy."
"But later, when the school teachers found out he was dating in school, it caused a big scene, and eventually, the senior was willing to drop out, saying that it was all his fault."
"Even after dropping out, the senior still stayed in touch with the girl, and they made plans to work hard and get married once they secured stable jobs."
"The words said at that age are the most genuine, the simplest."
"But the good times didn’t last long; before long, the senior could no longer contact the girl."
"He sneaked into the school, wanting to understand the situation clearly; if the girl no longer liked him, he wouldn’t force her."
"During the continuous pestering, a friend of the girl handed the senior a note, hoping he would come to the school building one night."
"Without much thought, the senior rushed to the school building late at night. Nobody knows exactly what happened that night, but the next day, they found a body in front of the school building."
"The senior had fallen from the roof, he was lying on the ground, his spine broken, his neck twisted 180 degrees, his eyes fixed on the top floor of the school building."
"Since that day, some students occasionally see a person standing in the hallway at night, back facing them."
After listening to Zhang Guanxing’s story, Han Fei was a bit puzzled.
He looked at Zhang Guanxing and suddenly noticed, to his surprise, that the hate mark on Zhang Guanxing’s arm had disappeared.
