Chapter 93: Chapter 17 Herbal Bath_2

Lin Xiaoguai was really sleepy, she struggled for a bit but then continued to sleep.

Shen Chi got off the bed quietly, changed his clothes, and went to the kitchen. He washed rice, set water, and started cooking porridge. He also warmed up some buns, then went to the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face.

By the time he had finished breakfast, Lin Xiaoguai came out of the room rubbing her eyes, "Are you leaving now?"

Shen Chi nodded, "I’ll eat lunch at the military camp’s cafeteria. You and Little Niangao can just eat here."

Lin Xiaoguai nodded to show she understood and then asked, "Do you still have to come back so late tonight?"

"I’ll be back half an hour earlier today," Shen Chi replied.

After seeing Shen Chi off, Lin Xiaoguai stretched and walked into the bathroom.

When she returned to the room, Little Niangao was already awake, crawling around on the bed joyfully, turning the blankets and sheets into a mess. Half of his body was inside the blanket and he was laughing joyously.

Lin Xiaoguai smiled helplessly, approached him, and pulled him out from the blanket, tapping his nose, "You little rascal, giving mommy more work."

Little Niangao laughed happily, falling into her arms and tugging at her hair, his little legs kicking excitedly.

Lin Xiaoguai put him in the stroller, fed him breakfast, filled herself up, and then decided to take Little Niangao out for some fun.

The scenery in the guarded area was quite nice; although there were no ancient trees or famous flowers, the lush greenery and flourishing flowers and plants created a very natural green environment.

Little Niangao found everything fascinating, even reaching out to grab the tall foxtail grasses. Lin Xiaoguai let him amuse himself.

"Are you Shen Chi’s wife, Lin Xiaoguai?" Just as she was watching her son, someone suddenly asked from opposite her.

Lin Xiaoguai looked up and saw a young woman walking towards her from the other side, dressed in a sailor shirt and white bell-bottom pants, topped with a grey ladies’ suit jacket. She donned a short hairstyle characteristic of the era and wore blush and lipstick, very fashionable for the time.

However, in Lin Xiaoguai’s eyes, such attire was overly striking, making it difficult for her to decide whether the woman’s appearance was attractive or unattractive.

"May I ask who you are?" she tilted her head slightly, asking with some confusion.

"My name is Liang Yuwei. My husband, Li Kun, is Shen Chi’s subordinate," Liang Yuwei observed Lin Xiaoguai, finally having to admit that this woman was indeed as beautiful as others said.

She always thought those women who dressed plainly in traditional clothes and didn’t know how to make themselves up were boring, but Lin Xiaoguai’s presence changed her perspective. Lin Xiaoguai was simply wearing a plaid shirt with a yellow V-neck sweater over it, a grey plaid long skirt, no makeup, and a non-stylish hairstyle, yet she looked strikingly beautiful.

"Hello," Lin Xiaoguai greeted, curious why the other had stopped her.

"Are you taking your child out for a walk?" Liang Yuwei smiled at Little Niangao curiously, not waiting for Lin Xiaoguai to answer, she said, "Let me accompany you, the guarded area might not have much scenery, but there are still some interesting places."

With such enthusiasm and genuine goodwill, Lin Xiaoguai, although reluctant to have a stranger intrude on her time with her son, could hardly refuse and smiled, "That would be trouble for you."

"It’s no trouble, I have nothing else to do anyway," Liang Yuwei smiled.

Now, Liang Yuwei took the lead, guiding Lin Xiaoguai towards the Old Military Building, chatting as they walked, "Our guarded area doesn’t have a separate primary school, but there’s a shooting range for training children. The kids, especially the boys, love going there. Though your son is young, he might also enjoy playing with other kids."

Soon, a fairly large shooting range came into view, as did the sound of children’s laughter.

"Why are all these kids so young?" Lin Xiaoguai was surprised at the sight of children, the oldest appearing to be no more than five.

"The older kids went to school, and today is not a holiday, so they’re not here. Those children might look young, but they’re quite skilled with guns already," Liang Yuwei laughed.

Her words had barely finished when a gunshot rang out from the range, followed by a burst of children’s high-pitched cheers and laughter.

"Dunzi, you hit the target again!"

"I told you Dunzi was better than Ah Ming, you guys wouldn’t believe me."

"Let me do it, make way for me!"

The scene was lively and amusing, but Lin Xiaoguai frowned, "Isn’t this dangerous?"

"Not at all," Liang Yuwei replied as they both pushed the stroller, "The guns and bullets are specially made; the bullets contain paint, and although the gunfire sounds realistic, the recoil isn’t strong. If someone really does get hit, all you need to worry about is how to wash the paint out of the clothes."

Lin Xiaoguai looked around and saw indeed a few children with splotches of paint on their bodies.

She let out a slight sigh of relief, lowered her head to check on her son, and noticed his eyes sparkling with excitement, his whole body leaning over the barrier of the stroller.

Seeing the kids covered in grass and mud, some even wearing split pants with their bare buttocks on the grass, Lin Xiaoguai, somewhat fastidious, frowned slightly. However, thinking that Little Niangao was a boy and constantly restraining him wasn’t good for his character development, boys needed to experience falls to become strong.

She sighed, lifted Little Niangao from the stroller, and took him down to the grass in the shooting range.

Little Niangao wasn’t shy at all; once he was on the ground, he crawled towards the other children.

Liang Yuwei was somewhat surprised; Lin Xiaoguai looked like a meticulous person, and she didn’t expect her to be willing to let her child play in the shooting range.

At the shooting range, the children quickly noticed Little Niangao’s arrival, and the adults responsible for watching them had already seen them coming. Seeing Lin Xiaoguai letting her child join in, they also came over.
