Chapter 92 - 17 Medicinal Bath
Chapter 92: Chapter 17 Medicinal Bath
Wu Ermei didn’t stay much longer, chatting briefly with Little Niangao before departing.
Lin Xiaoguai stood there pondering for a while, but decided to postpone the vegetable planting for a couple of days as there was something more pressing to do now.
Shen Chi had come home very late that day, perhaps because he had just started his new role, and he was sweaty and obviously had come from the training ground.
As he pushed the door open, without a second word, Lin Xiaoguai pushed him into the bathroom and pointing at the steaming bath barrel said, "Go soak for half an hour."
After that, she left and closed the door before he could react.
Shen Chi paused, noticing the dark medicinal broth obviously made from various herbs in the bathtub. He hesitated momentarily, worried the water was still bubbling and might scald his mortal flesh.
But considering that Wanwan rarely made requests and clearly had his health in mind, he clenched his teeth, stripped off his clothes, and stepped into the bath.
Instantly, he felt an indescribable sensation spreading from his submerged legs. While it was uncomfortable, it wasn’t as scaldingly hot as he had feared. He exhaled in relief, immersed his other foot, and then his neck, submerging completely into the medicinal juice.
Strangely enough, despite the richness of the herbal broth, he couldn’t smell any medicinal scent—just the steamy vapor.
Meanwhile, as Lin Xiaoguai was cooking, she couldn’t help but glance towards the bathroom. She had prepared the medicinal bath according to the formula in the system, using top-quality herbs she had grown herself in her previous life’s space, known for their significant effects in strengthening muscles and bones.
According to 001, as long as the bones weren’t shattered, types of tendon damage like Shen Chi’s, caused by penetrating gunshot wounds, could easily be healed.
She hoped not to be disappointed.
However, Shen Chi began to feel tormented. If previously he only felt uncomfortable, now he was truly in pain, especially his previously injured left leg, which felt like something was burrowing rapidly deep inside. This brought back painful memories of when he had to cut away rotting flesh from his gunshot wound on the battlefield due to a lack of medicine and hot weather.
Instinctively, he knew this painful sensation was beneficial, so he gritted his teeth and held on tightly to the edge of the tub, enduring.
He wasn’t aware of the passing time until a knock on the door awakened him from his agonizing stupor.
"Do you need help?" Lin Xiaoguai’s gentle voice came from outside.
"No need," Shen Chi replied breathlessly, feeling as though all his strength had been sapped. Despite his weakness, he preferred to struggle on his own rather than let Wanwan see him in such a disheveled state.
Lin Xiaoguai raised an eyebrow, guessing his thoughts. She didn’t insist, instead, she set the dinner table and started feeding their son.
Little Niangao, having already had half an apple and a small cup of orange juice after dinner—a normal amount for him—was particularly famished today, as dinner was an hour later than usual, and he had been complaining of hunger.
Therefore, he ate the rice paste with vegetable leaves that Lin Xiaoguai fed him more focused than ever before.
When Shen Chi dressed and came out, Little Niangao had already finished most of the bowl. Shen Chi played with his son briefly, not waiting for a response, and sat down to eat, picking up his bowl.
Perhaps because the medicinal bath had drained much of his energy, Shen Chi had an unusually good appetite. Despite feeling weak in his arms and legs, he still ate three large bowls of rice, most of the braised chicken, and the beef from the beef soup.
After dinner, he started feeling very sleepy and tried to help Lin Xiaoguai clean up but was sent back to the bedroom to sleep.
He really had no energy to resist and fell asleep as soon as he touched the bed.
Lin Xiaoguai exhaled in relief. She also felt quite drained as, although she was a Senior Pharmacist, the bath formula was among the most complex in the Advanced Medicine Formula. Not only did the preparation require precise operation, but cooking it was also very taxing. Had she not continually practiced controlling her spiritual power over the past two years, she likely would have failed several times before succeeding.
After tidying up the dishes, Lin Xiaoguai settled her son to sleep and couldn’t wait to crawl under her blankets.
When the wake-up call sounded, Lin Xiaoguai drowsily opened her eyes. A hand reached over and stroked her head as a deep, magnetic voice murmured near her ear, "You sleep in a bit longer, I’ll make breakfast."
