My Happy Daily Life After Being Reborn
Chapter 439 - 42 Ping’an’s Crisis

Chapter 439: Chapter 42 Ping’an’s Crisis

Time flew by, and before we knew it, two more years had passed, the kids had aged another two years. The already quirky quadruplets had grown even more capable of running and jumping, leading a bunch of children from the farm in chasing chickens and dogs, causing trouble every day.

At Zhi Xin Garden, the gift shop, and the Charitable Foundation, business was booming. However, Lin Xiaoguai found herself in a predicament.

"Do I really have to wear this?" Looking at the beautiful white wedding dress before her, Lin Xiaoguai was at a loss.

She thought that Shen Chi’s words were just sweet nothings. Who would have thought he was serious?

"What’s the matter, you don’t think it looks good? We can change it," Shen Chi said while writing invitations.

"It’s not that... it’s just..." Lin Xiaoguai bit her lip and said softly, "We’re of a certain age now, isn’t it a bit embarrassing?"

"Young couples getting married don’t necessarily do a Western-style wedding."

It would have been one thing if Lin Xiaoguai really was a thirty-year-old young wife, but having lived through a previous life, her perception of her own age was naturally not as it appeared on the surface.

——Blame it on her previous life where she aged without much change in appearance, resulting in her not feeling the clear sense of age difference that other reborn individuals experienced over the years.

Consequently, the thought of engaging in romantic gestures like a young couple at her age made her feel particularly uncomfortable.

"Why do you care what others think?" Shen Chi finished writing an invitation and looked up, "As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters."

"But the kids..."

Shen Chi caught a rare glimpse of her being so coquettish and immediately laughed, "You’re overthinking it. The kids are happier than you, especially the quadruplets. They were thrilled to hear that they’ll be the flower children."

Wanwan didn’t seem shy when taking wedding photos; it was only when it came time to hold the wedding ceremony that she became bashful, and he really couldn’t understand her reasoning.

——How would he know, in later generations, it was quite common for wealthy elderly couples to have wedding photo reshoots, and to even go on honeymoons every year? What’s so strange about that?

Lin Xiaoguai struggled with herself for a while but then let it go. She too wanted a wedding of her own, and if that meant being laughed at, so be it.

The couple sat down to write the invitations they had to send out, speaking in low voices, when they heard a knock at the door.

"Come in." Recognizing it was Mrs. Yu from the footsteps, Lin Xiaoguai quickly said.

"Sir, Ma’am, something’s bad. Mr. Wan called and said that Brother Ping’an has been rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment," Mrs. Yu burst in without exchanging pleasantries, looking anxious.

"What happened?" Lin Xiaoguai and Shen Chi were shocked.

As they spoke, they quickly put on their coats and hurried out.

"I heard it was an accident. He was hit by a truck and is currently in the ER for resuscitation. Mr. Wan asked if you could bring some useful medicines," Mrs. Yu related Wan Quan’s words as she followed them.

Lin Xiaoguai understood Wan Quan’s meaning immediately and quickly grabbed some Solid Foundation Cultivation medicines along with some external trauma medicines. The couple then rushed to the hospital.

Upon arrival at the hospital, they found Little Niangao also at the operating room entrance, with injuries on his face and hands, and his clothes all dirty and disheveled. Lin Xiaoguai cried out in shock, "What happened, Little Niangao? Why are you here too?"

Her gaze swept over her son, checking him from head to toe, and she breathed a sigh of relief only after ensuring he was entirely unharmed.

"Mom..." Hearing his mother’s concerned voice, Shen Yinian’s suppressed emotions suddenly burst out. He threw himself at her, his eyes red as he said, "Ping’an and I were just walking on the road when the truck came from behind and hit us. I had already pulled Ping’an to the side to avoid it, but then the truck crashed into a boulder and toppled towards us. I was only scraped by a tree branch, while Ping’an got hit by a falling metal box from the truck. His chest is concave, and he spat out a lot of blood."

Shen Yinian was terrified. When Xu Ji fell, he froze in shock. If the truck hadn’t suddenly attempted to flee, he might have stayed there longer instead of reacting quickly to stop a passing van and take Xu Ji to the hospital.

"It’s okay now, don’t be afraid," Lin Xiaoguai said, comforting her son by stroking his head.

Shen Chi glanced at Wan Quan and Han Shouzhen at the entrance of the operating room and frowned, "Where’s the driver who hit them?"

"The young lad said the perpetrator fled the scene," Han Shouzhen said as she shifted her gaze away from the indicator light above the operating room door and clenched her teeth.

Shen Chi frowned and turned to his son, "Where did the accident happen?"

"It was in the suburbs. It was a class outing, and Brother Ping’an was bored, so he came along. We were hit when we went to the nearby shop to buy water," Shen Yinian said as he regained his composure.
