My Happy Daily Life After Being Reborn -
Chapter 211 - 30: The Greatest Revenge
Chapter 211: Chapter 30: The Greatest Revenge
On Monday morning, the philosophy department only had one class close to lunchtime, so by the time Yang Xiaoli arrived at the dormitory with two large lunch boxes, it was already half-past nine.
"You guys are up so early?" She was surprised to see Lin Xiaoguai and Zhu Huixi already in the dorm.
She hesitated for a moment, glancing at Lu Rong by her side, debating whether or not to greet her.
But Zhu Huixi pulled her over and pointed at the two large lunch boxes she brought, "What’s in these?"
"My aunt made tea eggs and glutinous rice cakes; I brought them for you guys to try," Yang Xiaoli said as she opened the lunch boxes.
Yang Xiaoli is from D province, but her aunt married and moved to the Capital, so she didn’t stay in the dorm during the holidays.
One lunch box contained eight tea eggs and the other eight glutinous rice cakes; they looked fresh, probably just made not long ago.
"By the way, I also brought some food." Zhu Huixi reached for her shoulder bag on her bed, taking out a bag of peanuts, "My mom roasted these, I’ve loved them since I was a kid, you guys should try them too."
She then took out a paper package, "This is sauce duck, my dad brought it back from a business trip in Shanghai."
Naturally, Lin Xiaoguai didn’t come empty-handed; she took out her shoulder bag from the closet, pulling out homemade hawthorn cake and marinated chicken feet.
"You made these yourself?" Zhu Huixi looked incredulously at the professional-looking hawthorn cake and marinated chicken feet.
"What’s so surprising?" Yang Xiaoli was calm, "Xiao Guai is already a mother, so it’s not strange for her to know how to do these. Have you forgotten? Even the face cream she uses is homemade; it shows how crafty she is."
"The weather isn’t cold enough, the food might spoil. Why don’t we skip the cafeteria and eat these instead for lunch?" Yang Xiaoli suggested.
"Okay," Zhu Huixi nodded, "The peanuts and hawthorn cake can last a bit longer, we’ll keep those as snacks, and we should be able to finish the rest for lunch and dinner."
Compared to the cafeteria food, what they brought was only better.
Yang Xiaoli hesitated as she looked at the food she brought, then glanced at Lu Rong, whose face could hardly hide her disapproval.
"Don’t mind her." Sensing her thoughts, Zhu Huixi scoffed, "She doesn’t understand the saying ’bite the hand that feeds you.’ Better not waste food on her."
Although they initially despised Lu Rong, the thief, and wanted to maintain a superficial peace considering they had to live with her, it seemed Lu Rong didn’t feel the same, determined to offend them. Zhu Huixi was no longer going to play nice, who needed to be polite to her?
Yang Xiaoli was somewhat confused but decided to hold back her questions and ask privately later.
"Let’s put these in the cabinet; that one has a lock. We’ll go buy a few padlocks later to secure our desk drawers and cabinets to avoid theft," Zhu Huixi hinted, just before they left for class.
If this had been earlier, Lu Rong would have protested, but the incidents before made her realize she wouldn’t get her way with Lin Xiaoguai and Zhu Huixi; she knew better than to seek trouble, though that didn’t mean she harbored no resentment.
On their way to class, Lin Xiaoguai and Zhu Huixi took turns updating Yang Xiaoli about the morning’s events.
Yang Xiaoli couldn’t believe it, "Did Lu Rong really do those things?"
"Exactly, Xiao Guai and I were utterly disgusted by her," Zhu Huixi complained.
Yang Xiaoli frowned, "How are we supposed to live with someone like that? Stealing is bad enough, but harming others without benefiting herself, can we even continue like this?"
"What choice do we have? It’s just our bad luck. But thankfully, it’s just one academic year, then I’ll move out," Zhu Huixi sighed.
"I will too, my aunt asked me to move in with her in my sophomore year," Yang Xiaoli added.
"Xiao Guai surely won’t stay in the dorm at that time either, considering you have your partner and child," before Lin Xiaoguai could respond, Zhu Huixi already turned to her.
She nodded, "Indeed, I’ll be moving out in my sophomore year." What she didn’t mention was that she originally planned to keep her dormitory spot so she could rest there during the day. But with Lu Rong there, that plan was no longer feasible.
"That’s great, then we can all be free," Zhu Huixi said with relief.
At the Han Family, Han Shouzhen struggled to help Han Kuang up the stairs, and coming towards them, looking haggard, was Liu Yuzhi to assist. Shouzhen frowned but didn’t refuse her help; however, Han Kuang looked disdainful.
