Chapter 202: Chapter 25 Help_2
The family of three had enjoyed a long-missed harmonious dinner together, and as night fell, a small incident occurred.
"I want to sleep with Mommy!" Little Niangao stood steadfastly by the side of the master bedroom’s large bed, clinging to his little pillow.
Shen Chi was mentally plotting how to devour Lin Xiaoguai, naturally unwilling to have an extra glaring little light bulb around. Little Niangao was no longer an infant; if he were to wake up in the middle of the night because of their movements... Just the thought of that scenario made Shen Chi’s teeth ache.
"Little Niangao, didn’t you say you were a little man? Little men should sleep by themselves," Shen Chi coaxed.
"But I miss Mommy," Little Niangao said with tearful eyes, "And Dad, you’re a big man, but you still sleep with Mommy every day."
Shen Chi choked, "Can that be the same? Your mom is my wife, men are supposed to sleep with their wives."
"Then Mommy, you be my wife instead; don’t be Daddy’s wife anymore." Little Niangao didn’t hesitate and threw himself in front of Lin Xiaoguai.
Shen Chi’s face immediately darkened. Was this an example of internal thieves being the hardest to guard against? He had resisted so many outsiders trying to steal his woman, but he hadn’t guarded against this little ’inside thief.’
Seeing Shen Chi’s frustration, Lin Xiaoguai couldn’t help but laugh until Shen Chi could hardly keep his composure, then gracefully picked up her son and said, "Let Little Niangao sleep with us."
She missed her son too, and as for the thing Shen Chi was so eager about, she, as a woman, wasn’t as keen on it as Shen Chi was.
Not to mention Shen Chi’s frustration, Little Niangao was overjoyed, quickly climbing onto the bed and rolling into Lin Xiaoguai’s arms like a joyful little ball.
In the middle of the night, Shen Chi finally could no longer bear the aching in his lower abdomen, turned on the light, and took a small blanket from Little Niangao’s room. He wrapped Little Niangao up and carefully carried him back to his own room.
Mission accomplished!
Shen Chi returned to the bed, and without a word, pounced on Lin Xiaoguai with green eyes, his hands and mouth moving together.
"You... What about Little Niangao?"
"I sent him back to his room."
"Hmm... Be gentle, ha..."
"Baby, be good, spread your legs..."
"Hmm, no... it’s ticklish... don’t touch there..."
The room was filled with the light of spring, and the starving man finally had his wishes fulfilled. Lin Xiaoguai woke up feeling as if her bones had fallen apart, her waist and back ached, and her whole body felt as if it had been run over.
"Wanwan, are you feeling any better?" Shen Chi massaged her waist while trying to please her.
"Mmm... A little harder." Lin Xiaoguai’s expression was languid, her half-closed eyes and slightly husky voice incredibly alluring.
Shen Chi swallowed his saliva but didn’t dare to take any liberties. Last night, he had been rash enough; if he overstepped the mark now, he wouldn’t get to sleep in the same room with his wife tonight. He needed to endure, to hold back...
Lin Xiaoguai knew all too well Shen Chi’s feelings, but she rather enjoyed tormenting him a bit more. Her voice didn’t lessen but became even more enticing, like a feather teasing Shen Chi’s heart, making it burn hotter, yet he dared not do anything.
After half an hour of relentless massage from Shen Chi, Lin Xiaoguai’s waist pain finally eased. Carefully and attentively, Shen Chi helped her dress and personally fed her a bowl of porridge before saying, "Since you have a day off, shall we go out? Let’s have some fun."
Lin Xiaoguai gave him a displeased glance, "If you want to go, you go!" Her waist was still sore even just sitting, let alone walking.
Noticing her rubbing her waist, Shen Chi touched his nose and said, "Then we won’t go out. I’ll stay at home with you. What would you like to eat? I’ll go out and buy it for you."
"What about Little Niangao?" She vaguely remembered that early in the morning Little Niangao had knocked on the door, but she had been too drowsy then, her eyes simply wouldn’t open, and she only remembered Shen Chi seemingly saying something to send him away.
"I warmed up two three-delight buns for him, and he took them out to play," replied Shen Chi.
Lin Xiaoguai frowned slightly, "Don’t do that again in the future. Let him eat breakfast at home before going out to play. It’s not a good habit."
"Okay, I’ll listen to you," Shen Chi wanted to say more but the public address system outside suddenly sounded.
"Would the wife of Lieutenant Colonel Shen, Lin Xiaoguai, please come to the communication room quickly, there’s a phone call for—"
...
After being repeated three times, the announcement fell silent.
"It must be from our hometown, I don’t know if something has happened." Both were somewhat worried.
At the communication room, Lin Xiaoguai had just answered the phone with a "Hello" when Lin Xiaoxi’s anxious voice came through from the other end.
"Xiaomei, brother is asking you for a favor!"
The abrupt request left Lin Xiaoguai somewhat baffled. After pausing she said, "Xiaoge, if something has happened, you have to explain clearly. How can I help you otherwise?"
Against the earnest and anxious gaze of his mother and daughter-in-law, Lin Xiaoxi, far away in Z Province, wiped his face and said somewhat choked up, "There’s a meningitis outbreak in the county, and Xiao Xue has caught it."
"What happened!?" Lin Xiaoguai exclaimed, shocked. Her niece’s health had apparently been improving over the past few years, so how could she still get meningitis?
And wasn’t meningitis generally an affliction that broke out in the spring and winter? It wasn’t even autumn yet.
"It started with a low fever and cough; we thought it was just a cold. We gave her the cold pills you left behind, but they had no effect at all, and within two days it turned into a high fever, with constant headaches, chills, and even a rash developed. When we realized something was wrong and took her to the county hospital, we learned that there was meningitis in the county, and Xiao Xue had contracted meningitis. At first, it wasn’t too bad; the doctors prescribed medicine and Xiao Xue’s condition didn’t worsen, but later..."
He paused and then said with some resentment, "Later, the doctor informed us that there wasn’t enough antibiotic, so they had to reduce the dosage. But Xiao Xue’s condition had just started to improve, how could we agree to that? But no matter how much we begged or how much money we offered, it was useless. We later learned that the county governor’s son had also caught this disease, but when it came to him, there wasn’t enough antibiotic, so they took Xiao Xue’s share."
He spat out angrily, "We had already paid the money!" (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for it at Qidian (qidian.com) with a recommendation ticket or monthly ticket. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
