Chapter 150: Chapter 46 Unlucky_2

Wu Ermei jolted awake and blurted out, "Xiao Guai, let’s go. I’ll take you to the military doctor to treat your wound."

"No need," Lin Xiaoguai could tell that Wu Ermei was trying to protect the woman named Niu Lan, her expression indifferent, "It’s just Little Niangao and Yaya back home, I can’t leave them alone. I’ll deal with the injury myself later."

Without waiting for anyone’s reaction, she walked past them and left. Wu Ermei wanted to stop her but couldn’t find a reason to do so.

"That’s awful," she glared at Niu Lan, saying angrily, "Look what you’ve done! You hurt someone and you can’t even say sorry?"

Niu Lan appeared puzzled, "Is a little cut really such a big deal? If it matters that much, I can bring her a pig’s trotter later. Such delicate skin on a young lady, how did she become so precious?"

She couldn’t help but mutter under her breath, "Making a fuss over nothing. In my opinion, it would be better if she disfigured her face; that would save her from seducing men with her pretty face."

"Niu Lan!" Wu Ermei was nearly faint with anger, "Can you not be so excessive? How many times have I told you, no one is seducing your Lixing! Stop treating every pretty girl as if she killed your father. They don’t owe you anything!"

"How can you say she wasn’t seducing someone? Didn’t you see that little hussy’s hand resting on Lixing’s shoulder? If that’s not seducing, does she have to roll into bed with him first for it to count?" Niu Lan yelled, her voice raised in anger.

Wu Ermei was stunned, "Did you get something wrong?"

"What’s there to get wrong?" Niu Lan blinked innocently.

"That Cultural Troupe female soldier you chased off has already run away. The one you just injured is a military wife from our building, her husband is Lieutenant Colonel Shen Chi. Didn’t you hear her saying she had to rush home to check on her kids?" Wu Ermei said with livid frustration.

"Ah?" Niu Lan was also stunned, "You’re not lying to me?"

"Why would I lie to you?" Wu Ermei held her forehead in exasperation, realizing that this woman hadn’t paid attention to what Lin Xiaoguai had said.

"What should we do now?" Niu Lan asked stupidly, "Should I go over with a couple of pig’s trotters to apologize?"

"Forget it, who needs your pig’s trotters? She can afford to eat them every day," Wu Ermei replied peevishly, "Just figure it out on your own, and if Lixing encounters any trouble at work, don’t come to me."

With that, she moved to leave.

"Wait, Er Mei, you can’t go. You have to explain this to me; how does this relate to Lixing?" Upon hearing her man’s name, Niu Lan panicked and quickly grabbed hold of her.

Without mentioning what the two discussed next, on the other side, Lin Xiaoguai returned home to find Little Niangao still asleep and Yaya obediently watching TV in the living room. She breathed a sigh of relief and started to focus on her injured hand.

What bad luck! She sighed, taking out a medical kit she had prepared earlier. Under the lamp, she picked up the tweezers and started to remove the thorns lodged in her flesh. Fortunately, it was her left hand—she would have been helpless if it were her right.

She had to concentrate to find the thorns embedded in her flesh while enduring the grinding pain, and the fine work required steady hands. In no time, Lin Xiaoguai was sweating profusely, yet she had removed less than a third of the thorns.

"Aunty, what happened to your hand!?" Just then, having finished an episode of a cartoon, Yaya turned around to talk to Lin Xiaoguai and saw her injured hand.

"Aunty is fine, Yaya. Could you help Aunty check if your brother has woken up?" Lin Xiaoguai didn’t want to scare the child and spoke gently.

Yaya seemed worried, but obediently went to check on Little Niangao and soon ran back out.

"Aunty, Little Niangao is still asleep. Can I go back and get my little ducky toy?" After earning some money, Yu Xiaomiao had started to buy her daughter some toys, and the little squeaky duck was one of the few.

Lin Xiaoguai thought little of it, nodded, and handed her home keys to Yaya, cautioning her, "Remember to take the key out and put it in your pocket after you unlock the door. Run slowly, and don’t lose the keys."

"Okay!"

Watching Yaya dash out, Lin Xiaoguai picked up the tweezers to continue removing the thorns.

Turning our attention to Yaya, the little girl didn’t return home after going downstairs but went straight out of the Military Family Area and headed for the barracks.

There was a rule in the security zone: military families without a soldier’s accompaniment could not freely visit the barracks. But Yaya was just a child, and this rule was somewhat irrelevant to her.

Shen Chi was verifying the troop’s training plan for next month when Yaya’s high-pitched voice reached him.

"Uncle Shen, Uncle Shen, let me go, I want to find Uncle Shen!"

Shen Chi came out from the building and saw Yaya being held back by two guards, shouting in frustration.

"Yaya, what are you doing here?" Shen Chi tensed, not forgetting his previous instructions to the little girl. Could it be that something happened to Wanwan?

"Uncle Shen, Aunty is hurt!" Yaya had rushed over in a panic and worry, and now that she saw a familiar face, she couldn’t help bursting into tears, "Someone bullied Aunty, her hand is bleeding a lot."

The two soldiers began to understand the situation and quickly let the child go. Shen Chi picked up Yaya, who was sobbing, trying to comfort her while inquiring urgently, "Don’t cry, tell Uncle who hurt Aunty, and how is Aunty now?"

"I don’t know, Aunty was already hurt when she came back. She is at home now," Yaya sobbed heavily but remembered to answer Shen Chi’s questions.

Shen Chi felt slightly relieved but was still worried. He turned to the two soldiers and said, "I’m going back for a bit, inform Zhou Huai Country."

He was no longer part of the combat troops and mostly handled administrative work. It wasn’t a big deal to take some time off during non-critical periods.

The two soldiers showed no surprise, saluted, and acknowledged his order.

Shen Chi tidied up the files he had been looking at on the desk and hurriedly left. (To be continued. If you like this work, welcome to Qidian (qidian.com) to cast your recommendation votes and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please read at m.qidian.com.)
