Chapter 181: Chapter 181: Even the Casanova Can Be Trapped by Love

After being frightened, Fu Ying had a few peaceful days.

She thought that girl probably wouldn’t show up again.

Later, she heard that Li Ruolan had an accident, falling down the stairs, and she had not been in good health recently, so this fall sent her back to the hospital.

Fu Ying learned of this at the family dinner table, where her eldest brother had come home to eat and mentioned this during the conversation.

Apparently, that girl had been lingering near Shen Liguang’s house and one day, while Li Ruolan was out buying groceries, her bag broke and oranges spilled everywhere.

Then the girl appeared, helped Li Ruolan pick up the oranges, for which Li Ruolan was extremely thankful, unsuspecting of the girl.

At first, no one thought that this girl had twisted intentions, verging on insanity. How would Li Ruolan know things would take such a turn, thinking she had met a nice girl.

But then, Li Ruolan started to feel that the girl was becoming more and more abnormal, often showing up in the corridor, following her, and knocking on her door to ask if Shen Liguang was there.

Li Ruolan, thinking as before that some people who have been saved would come to her home to say thanks, told the chubby girl to go home and not to worry about showing gratitude, but the girl wouldn’t listen.

Last night, Li Ruolan went to the supermarket to buy some soy sauce. Since the elevator was in use and the third floor wasn’t very high, she took the stairs. Little did she know that the girl would suddenly appear, startling her and causing her to accidentally tumble down the steps.

After hearing this, Fu Mingchuan was perplexed: "Are young girls these days all so crazy?"

Fu Yan raised an eyebrow: "You’re out of touch because you’re old. Nowadays, those obsessed fans are capable of doing anything. It’s only what you can’t imagine; there’s nothing they can’t do."

Fu Ying stared blankly, poking at her rice with her chopsticks, and listened quietly.

"Why don’t this girl’s parents control her?" Wen Qing asked.

"Aunt Wen, do you think my dad controls me?"

Fu Mingchuan pursed his lips in displeasure, glaring at him.

Xia Jinyun rubbed her belly, her appetite waning, but she found the follow-up to this matter rather intriguing.

"So what’s happening with this situation now?"

"They’ve reported it to the police."

"Nowadays, young people are so irrational. It wasn’t like this in our time; if you liked someone, you were too shy to say anything."

Wen Qing reminisced about her youth when a mere accidental touch of a boy’s hand would make her blush and feel incredibly embarrassed,

nothing like the present.

However, different times shouldn’t be directly compared, but Wen Qing felt, at least, that no matter how wild or mad a little girl is, she should have at least been taught basic manners.

"Aunt Wen, when you have time, you should spend more time on the internet with my dad, get to know the entertainment industry a bit, broaden your horizons, and update your values."

Wen Qing nodded earnestly: "I can’t keep up with you young people anymore."

Fu Yan sweet-talked her: "How could that be? My dad looks like he’s in his fifties or sixties, Aunt Wen looks thirty-something."

"Slick talker."

"Not at all, I’m speaking the truth."

Aunt Wen couldn’t help but laugh, but wasn’t swayed by his flattery: "What’s the use of a smooth talker? Your older brother may not be as talkative, but he settled down early, and your younger sister has a boyfriend too. So, how come the one who talks the most is still single?"

"..." Fu Yan, "That’s because I won’t settle for less."

The dinner conversation grew animated discussing the girl, then shifted to Fu Yan, and eventually to Xia Jinyun’s pregnancy.

At seven in the evening, Fu Mingchuan watched the news broadcast on time, Fu Yi went out for a walk with Xia Jinyun, leaving Fu Ying and Fu Yan to clean the dishes in the kitchen.

Basically, it was all Fu Ying doing the work while Fu Yan was constantly checking his phone.

"The nerve."

Finally, he cursed and stormed out with his coat.

Fu Ying wiped the water off her hands and watched her little brother’s retreating figure, sighing silently.

She never thought she’d see the day when her little brother would be so preoccupied with a girl, going above and beyond for her.

Later that afternoon, Fu Ying took some time off to visit Li Ruolan in the hospital, at a time when Shen Liguang was not there.

Li Ruolan was happy to see her, talked her ear off, and discussed the girl, the follow-up to the police report, how her parents apologized, offered compensation, and took the girl away for education.

Li Ruolan sighed while speaking, "That fall really kept Li Guang busy."

During that time, he was indeed busy with the team, with family, so busy that he didn’t have time to meet her, only able to make phone calls and send WeChat messages.

Before they knew it, Fu Ying’s final exams were closing in, memorizing and cramming for Chinese Language and Literature, complex and incredibly difficult.

But it was the 800-page PowerPoint presentation and the several-thousand-word term paper that really frazzled Fu Ying.

So, for more than half a month, they only called and chatted on WeChat without meeting in person, the cold wind swept through, and New Year’s Day was fast approaching.

Fu Mingchuan planned to pick up Grandma from the countryside, and the whole family agreed. Early in the morning, Fu Mingchuan took Wen Qing and drove to the countryside.

Fu Yi came back from outside with breakfast, preparing light and nutritious meal for Xia Jinyun, as she couldn’t eat greasy food.

Fu Yan sat at the dining table, took a big bite of the fried dough stick, and swore profusely, "Damn it, she’s so fucking hard to chase."

Fu Yi glanced up, "In love?"

Fu Ying: "If I were in love, would I be swearing?"

Fu Yi nodded with a smile: "Oh, so you’re still in pursuit."

Fu Yan couldn’t be bothered to respond.

"Whose daughter is it?"

Fu Ying blurted out the answer, "The niece of the Wang Family next door to Grandma’s."

It took a moment for Fu Yi to respond, also unable to recall who that was.

"I guess you won’t be able to catch up," Fu Ying muttered with regret.

Fu Yan frowned and stuffed a fried dough stick into her mouth, "Just shut up, I can’t stuff your mouth even with food."

"Eating of course can’t shut my mouth... because I still need to swallow."

Fu Yan put on a wicked smile, "Then I know what can shut you up."

Fu Ying instantly understood, blushed, and raised her hand to hit him.

"Big brother, look, she’s embarrassed and furious, she is hitting me."

Fu Yi watched their teasing and thought it was funny, "It seems even the Love Saint can be troubled by love."

Thinking of the phrase ’even the Love Saint can be troubled by love,’ Fu Yan slouched onto the chair as if he were drained.

He was no Love Saint, just a big talker.

From high school till his second year of university, indeed, he flirted around without much care, having teased a few female classmates, never expecting to fall into Jin Can’s trap now.

After breakfast, the eldest brother took Xia Jinyun for a pregnancy check-up, and told them to clean up the table. Fu Yan, as if he hadn’t heard, continued playing with his phone, leaving Fu Ying to do the work alone.

Fu Mingchuan and Wen Qing would stay in the countryside with the elderly to celebrate New Year’s Day before returning.

When New Year’s Day ended, the students returned to school.

Fu Ying received a text from Lin Lishan asking her to bring some food from outside.

Lin Lishan was starting to prepare for the postgraduate entrance examination, and her dormitory bed was covered with study materials, which Fu Ying casually flipped through, finding them unrelated to their degree in Chinese Language and Literature.

It was all law.

"Are you, are you switching majors?"

Lin Lishan nodded, looking a bit tired and massaged her brow as she replied, "Yeah."

Fu Ying thought about it and remembered that Sheng Chen was studying law.

Initially, Lin Lishan had underperformed in her college entrance exams and failed to get into her desired university, ending up in the same university as her, a poor student, choosing a major she didn’t love,

"Don’t overwork yourself."

While eating her rice noodles, Lin Lishan shook her head, "It’s okay. By the way, what’s your topic for the term paper?"

Fu Ying shook her head, "Haven’t figured it out yet."

The two chatted for a while until Lin Lishan’s roommate arrived, and Fu Ying quickly left.
