My Crush Also Has a Crush on Me!
Chapter 167: Revenge

Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Revenge

Just after seven in the morning, Fu Ying bought breakfast on her way to the hospital.

The man was washing up, his head lowered as he repeatedly rinsed his face with clear water, the droplets sliding down from his forehead, along his nose bridge to his chin before dripping down.

The water traced down his neck, pooling on his collarbone.

Fu Ying blushed as she watched, quickly averting her eyes.

The scene felt a bit provocative to her.

"Why are you here?" Shen Liguang took a clean towel to dry his face, "I need to go to the station soon."

"I came to see Aunty, and I brought breakfast for you guys as well. You should eat before you leave."

Shen Liguang nodded: "Okay."

He ate quickly, finishing a bowl of wontons in just a few minutes, then got ready to go.

Fu Ying walked him out of the hospital. Before getting into the car, he pulled Fu Ying close for a kiss. With people coming and going at the hospital entrance, Fu Ying’s cheeks turned red, and she stepped back.

Shen Liguang smiled with a hooked corner in his lips, "My mom has more check-ups to go through today; thank you for your help."

Fu Ying bowed her head like a little newlywed, nodding, "No trouble at all, I happen to be free."

The girl was obedient and well-behaved, her voice was gentle and sometimes inadvertently coquettish, which made her seem vulnerable to being taken advantage of in the outside world.

Shen Liguang lowered his eyes, smiling as he watched her, and asked in a soft voice, "Do you know what you look like right now?"

"Like what?"

"Like a little newlywed."

Fu Ying’s face reddened.

Shen Liguang found her endearing, and he would have loved to hear her breathless, whiny tones next to his ear.

But with responsibilities to attend to, he had to leave; he raised his hand to ruffle the girl’s hair, "I’m off."

"Brother."

Shen Liguang turned around.

Fu Ying looked at him, gently advising, "Be careful, and stay safe."

"Got it."

Fu Ying stood still for a while, watching him get into his car, and didn’t go back inside until his vehicle had vanished from sight.

Fu Ying spent the morning accompanying Li Ruolan for a check-up, an infusion, and then picking up medication. The petite girl bustled about the hospital, making Li Ruolan feel warmth in her heart.

"Thank you, Yingying. Without you, Aunty really wouldn’t have managed on her own."

"It’s nothing." The young lady was a bit bashful, still somewhat restrained.

"Wait for me a bit, Aunty needs to go to the bathroom."

Fu Ying nodded, waiting outside.

A janitor came out from inside; Fu Ying didn’t notice and bumped into their cart as she turned around.

Fu Ying quickly apologized, "I’m sorry, sorry. I wasn’t paying attention."

The person didn’t respond, just gave her a deep look and waved her off, pushing the cart away.

Li Ruolan came out from the bathroom and, staring at the back of the janitor, said, "That cleaner just now was a bit odd."

"What was odd about them?"

Li Ruolan shook her head, "I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there was something strange about the way they looked at me."

Fu Ying thought about it; the way they had looked at her was indeed odd.

As if looking at an enemy.

"It might just be like that." Fu Ying, supporting Li Ruolan, headed towards the ward. "Auntie, we can pack up and go back now. I’ll accompany you."

Li Ruolan gently patted her hand: "You really went through a lot for me today, Yingying."

"Don’t mention it, Auntie."

Fu Ying went home with Li Ruolan, staying with her for a while and chatting, all about Shen Liguang’s childhood.

She said that he didn’t used to focus on girls; he was interested in airplanes and wanted to become an aerospace engineer, but in the end, instead of reaching for the skies, he ended up diving into the sea of fire.

Fu Ying listened intently, not preparing to leave until after dinner around seven or eight o’clock.

The weather had gotten colder, and night fell quickly. When Fu Ying stepped downstairs, it was already dark.

In summer, there was no wind at night, but in autumn, it often grew windy in the evenings.

There were no cars when Fu Ying left the residential complex; she turned into the pedestrian walkway. There weren’t many people on the road, and she was sending a text to Lin Lishan, head down, walking forward.

Footsteps from behind rustled the dry leaves.

Just as Fu Ying sent the text, the person behind suddenly quickened their pace and approached. As Fu Ying started to be on guard, her mouth and nose were rapidly covered.

Her consciousness began to blur. She quickly pressed the emergency contact shortcut key. As the call connected, her hand lost strength and dropped the phone.

At that time, Shen Liguang was eating in the cafeteria. When the call connected, no one spoke. Then the alarm bell rang, he said "hello" twice into the phone with no response, hung up, and went out on an emergency call with the firefighters.

A gust of cold wind woke Fu Ying. She slowly opened her eyes and looked around; she was on a rooftop.

She couldn’t move, tied to a chair, her mouth sealed, unable to speak.

Before her was a middle-aged woman, with streaks of white in her hair, looking insane, as if she had lost all reason. With a ferocious face, she screamed at Fu Ying, "It’s all because he let go that my daughter died!"

Fu Ying quickly realized the situation and furiously shook her head, trying to say it wasn’t so, managing only to make a whimpering sound.

The woman’s eyes were bloodshot, her face twisted, her hands tightly choking Fu Ying’s neck: "What did you say? You say it’s not? Of course you think it’s not because it wasn’t your dearest, most loved one who died; of course, you don’t care!"

The woman’s grip grew stronger, and Fu Ying found it hard to breathe.

"My daughter was only seventeen years old; she was about to take the college entrance exam! She had good grades, she was well-behaved, she was so young, why didn’t you hold onto her tighter, it was a human life! Why let go!?"

Fu Ying was helpless, unable to struggle, breathing more and more difficult, tears sliding down from her eyes, the woman’s ghastly face in front of her blurring.

"You are his girlfriend; I want him to taste the flavor of loss!"

The woman’s emotions neared madness as she grabbed Fu Ying’s hands and applied a lot of lubricant, then bound Fu Ying’s wrists together, securing the other end.

Fu Ying was only pulled up to realize that the drugs hadn’t worn off, her body powerless.

She was dragged to the edge of the rooftop, then the woman pushed her from behind. Fu Ying’s body fell over, her wrists turning red from the tight rope, hanging six stories high.

The drug slowly dissipated in her body, Fu Ying’s consciousness cleared increasingly, and people below discovered her. They talked amongst themselves, some calling the police and for rescue.

She gasped violently, not daring to look down, tears sliding from her eyes, her vision a blur.

Someone yelled to hurry and save her, trying to come up, only to discover the door to the rooftop was locked from the inside.

Several people tried to break the door together, but the woman, driven to the edge of madness, threatened, "If you come any closer, I’ll cut the rope!"

Everyone exchanged glances, none daring to make a rash move.

Helplessly, they could only pray for the girl while waiting for the firefighters to come.

"Do you know who her boyfriend is? A murderer! He killed my daughter! My daughter was only seventeen, still in high school, and she died like that! Her boyfriend, the murderer, was the firefighter that day!"

On the rooftop, the woman was crying and blaming the firefighter who tried to rescue her daughter that day.

She ranted, half-crazed, her voice broken with sobs; the people below also understood the general idea.

Putting things together, they realized that this girl’s boyfriend was the firefighter who had tried to rescue her daughter that day, and because the girl’s boyfriend let go, her daughter died.

So, the woman did this as revenge.
