My Creation Came to Life on an Island in Another World -
Chapter 37: Disappointment
Chapter 37: Disappointment
Khan began walking into the corridor filled with books, with Luxian right behind him, asking,
"Did we come here to check your information?"
"Yes... I’d like to know if the Akashic records truly record everything..."
It was just an excuse for Khan to learn more about his past—if he even had one.
I hope I don’t find just fanfics or things like that about me here... that would be a wasted trip...
As he walked down the corridor, Khan saw various titles like:
Creations of Khan — he picked it up to check.
Possible Origins of Khan — that one interested him, so he took it.
Trapped on a Deserted Island with Khan — seeing that title, both Khan and Luxian looked at it with slight disdain.
Worlds in Conflict — they simply passed by with no interest.
Khan’s Relations with the 7 Pillars — Khan picked it up out of curiosity about how those relationships worked.
...
At the end of the corridor, seeing the last title, Khan in Murim, he thought,
Looks like this is the last one... and it seems to be just a story... Well, most of the books felt more like made-up stories than actual records.
Khan was now holding only ten books, after going through nearly five hundred, with Luxian’s help.
Luxian said,
"Looks like these are the only useful books here, huh?"
"Yes... I’ll read them quickly for now..."
That way it’ll be easier to check if there’s anything interesting and worth taking more time with later...
Khan started walking toward a spot he had seen with chairs and tables for reading, near the walls, together with Luxian.
Once near the table, he placed the books in a stack and sat down on the chair.
Standing behind him, Luxian asked,
"Want help to get through this faster?"
"Ok..."
She sat beside him and waited for him to pull the first book from the stack.
They began reading in silence inside the library.
A few hours passed, and Khan thought to himself as he closed the book titled Possible Origins of Khan,
Hm... One of the origins mentioned was actually kind of interesting: it said Khan was born from complete nothingness, and with loneliness haunting him, he first gave life to his pillars and then to the Island... that was the closest to a real origin I’ve read in this book.
Khan looked at the stack, now been moved aside after they’d gone through all the books,
I expected more... they were just speculations about my past... this is tough... I thought this place recorded everything related to the island... could it be my past isn’t considered part of the island?
Khan sighed and looked at Luxian, asking,
"Did you find anything interesting?"
Finishing the book, she closed it and looked at Khan, replying,
"Not really, I’d say it was mostly common knowledge stuff."
"Like what?..."
"Our relations, your strength, and some possible stories about how you created us."
"Hm... I’ll take a closer look at all the books again later..."
Especially the one about the relationships...
Khan started putting the books away while Luxian asked,
"Why research about yourself?"
"I just thought there might be things here I didn’t know..."
Crossing her arms and leaning her back against the chair, slightly turned toward Khan, she said,
"I doubt anything like that exists... unless it’s from this new world."
Khan, after finishing storing the books in his inventory, leaned back in his chair as well, which was slightly turned toward Luxian, and said,
"Can I ask something... weird?"
Luxian’s wings twitched slightly as she said,
"Sure."
"What’s your first memory?"
Luxian thought for a few seconds, then said,
"It was in the limbo. I remember waking up and seeing you sitting, waiting for us to wake."
Hearing that, Khan started trying to remember, and Luxian continued,
"I remember that when I woke up, Azath was still asleep, and you said to me, ’You’ve finally woken up,’ as you stood up."
Khan remembered what those memories were about,
That’s the story of Project Inicio... though with a few things changed... I wonder if I have more detailed memories of that past hidden somewhere in my mind..
More questions formed, until he just sighed and let it go.
Looking at Luxian, Khan said,
"I’m done here... shall we?"
As Khan stood up, Luxian replied,
"Let’s."
With both on their feet, they walked through the corridor filled with bookshelves.
When they reached Eldar, he greeted them with a graceful bow and said,
"May I assist you with anything else, masters?"
"Where can I register the books I’m taking?"
Straightening his back again, he replied,
"At the reception above, master."
"Alright... then farewell..."
"Yes, I shall await your next visit, masters."
With that farewell, they climbed the spiral staircase that spiraled around the pillar.
Once near the entrance they had come through, it opened again.
After exiting into the reception, he went to the young man who had greeted them earlier and said,
"I want to take ten books, do I need to sign anything?"
The young man cheerfully said,
"That won’t be necessary. I only ask for the names of the books, my creator."
Khan took the ten books and placed them on the counter.
Leaving the reception with Luxian through the opened section of the counter, they turned again toward the reception, where the young man was listing the books.
Looking at the young man, Khan asked,
"Are there any magic books from the new world?"
While writing, the young man replied,
"We do, my creator. There are few, so I fear we may not have what you’re looking for."
"Hm... which one is the most popular among them?"
The young man finished writing the book names, then, with a slight smile, looking at Khan, replied,
"I believe it would be Magical Foundations, written by Azathoth, Pillar of Resentment, my creator."
Khan found that interesting and said,
"Alright... I’ll take it."
"As you wish, my creator."
He pulled out a book without a title from under the counter and placed it on top. A black mist covered the book, and once it faded, the title and contents of the desired book were revealed.
The book had a cover with engravings and various magic circles.
Khan simply picked it up and placed it on top of the other books.
"Can I take them now?"
"Please do, my creator."
Khan thought for a moment,
This ’my creator’ thing... I’m starting to get tired of it...
Pushing that thought aside, he stored the books in his inventory and said,
"Goodbye."
The young man, with a slight smile, gave a small bow,
"Thank you for your visit, my creator and Pillar of Charity."
Khan and Luxian left the library. Outside, it was no longer sunny—it was night, and snow was lightly falling.
Looking at the sky, Khan wondered,
Did we take that long?
With a soft sigh, he asked Luxian,
"Want to sleep here tonight?"
Luxian lightly flapped the four wings on her back before folding them in, saying,
"Of course."
At that confirmation, she grabbed Khan’s right arm.
Khan was slightly pushed and, looking at Luxian,
What was that? ...She got excited just from staying here?
He wanted to complain about the push, but gave up when he saw the happiness on Luxian’s face.
They started walking down the sidewalks, passing through the gates that guarded the tower.
Walking along the sidewalks, Khan and Luxian stood out due to their height.
Many people passed by them, watching but keeping their distance, knowing who they were.
While people filled the sidewalks, carriages moved through the streets.
The area was lively, with shops selling all kinds of things made by the scholars living in that city.
Walking a bit further, he wondered,
The mansion I built in this project... is it still here? If I remember correctly, it’s maintained by a fairy...
He was pulled from his thoughts when Luxian pointed at a katana and said,
"Why do these kinds of shops always care more about appearance than sharpness?"
She let go of Khan’s arm and narrowed her eyes to analyze the white katana displayed in the shop’s window.
Khan just sighed at that and thought,
I didn’t remember her being so obsessed with blades...
He approached her and asked,
"Do you want to take the katana?"
She looked at Khan and said,
"Can I take it?"
"If you want..."
Hearing that, Luxian thought for a moment.
Suddenly, she moved closer to the window. Khan looked at her and thought,
What is she going to do?
After a short moment, she reached out her arm to take the katana.
The glass in the way began to crack with a light touch of Luxian’s fingers.
Once fully cracked, the glass shattered and fell as Luxian simply grabbed the katana.
Watching the whole situation, Khan rubbed his face and muttered,
"I deserve this..."
Khan approached Luxian, and she turned to him with the katana in her right hand, smiling innocently as she said,
"All done, we can move on."
Khan just raised his hand to Luxian’s forehead and flicked it.
It was strong enough to make a loud noise and push her head back slightly.
Luxian was dazed for a moment. When the pain kicked in, she covered her forehead, now with a red bump, using her wings.
Her eyes began to fill slightly with tears. Khan wondered,
No way that was enough to make her cry... It’s probably just because I scolded her...
Seeing she was about to cry, Khan asked,
"Do you know what you did wrong?"
In a slightly hoarse tone, she replied,
"No..."
Khan sighed and said,
"You have to pay for those kinds of items... we’re not at war or anything where we can just take what we want... understand now?"
She simply nodded.
With that response, Khan said as he walked toward the shop entrance,
"Come on."
Opening the door and slightly bowing, he entered the store. Luxian did the same.
The shopkeeper was sweating bullets, watching them nervously.
At the counter, Khan said,
"How much does this katana cost?" — pointing at the katana in Luxian’s hand.
It took the shopkeeper a moment to respond,
"F-Five gold coins, m-my creator."
Khan just took out five gold coins, placed them on the counter, and asked another question,
"And the glass... that was broken?"
"T-That would be 50 silver, m-my creator."
Khan took out another gold coin and placed it on the counter.
"This should be enough, I presume..."
The shopkeeper simply responded,
"Y-Yes, my creator."
Khan turned and walked back toward the exit while Luxian went ahead of him.
Once outside, he said,
"Done... the katana’s yours."
"Yeah..."
Luxian seemed down as she held the sword in her hand.
Khan looked at her and wondered,
Now what? ...How do I cheer her up?
Khan tried cheering her up by patting her head, but it didn’t work...
What do I do? Maybe a hug?
He was a bit anxious inside since he had almost no experience cheering someone up.
He stepped closer and hugged Luxian from the front.
His arm lightly pressed against her ribs, while his hands wrapped around her back, resting beneath the feathers of her wings.
Luxian was a little surprised by the feeling of comfort and hugged him back.
While they hugged, a small group of people began to gather.
Khan, noticing this, thought,
This crap again... why don’t they just go about their lives? ...forget it.
Slightly bitter about the situation, he activated an ability.
Distorting the space around them, they were pulled in as if into a black hole, and vanished.
