My Creation Came to Life on an Island in Another World -
Chapter 31: There is no hope
Chapter 31: There is no hope
The giant angel stood around eight meters tall, about half the height of the trees in that forest. Her four wings extending from her back were folded, while the ones coming from her head covered her eyes.
The group tensed at the sight, and upon seeing the angel’s golden eyes staring down at them, mages began to prepare their spells, those with Traits started activating them, and Qi users had their glowing swords already in hand.
Mark, who wielded both Qi and a Trait, activated both simultaneously, granting him immense strength at the cost of his sanity.
Silvia positioned herself further back, while Norkim stood in front of her with his shield and sword raised.
With their formation set, they waited.
The angel spoke with a beautiful voice and a gaze full of disdain.
"I am Luxian, an Equinox Angel guarding the Creator’s throne. I shall kill you here."
As she declared this, a golden light formed in her right hand, shaping into a grey halberd adorned with intricate golden details.
With a diagonal swing, a gust of wind blew, and golden sparks followed. The blade stopped once it pointed at the ground.
After that introduction, many charged forward. Mages with nature-based magic extended thick roots to help the warriors climb, or raised the ground to give them a boost.
Meanwhile, the other mages launched their most powerful spells.
Luxian began walking toward them.
Those running along the roots got close enough to reach Luxian’s head.
Those on the ground, however, would only reach her legs.
Unfortunately for those on the roots, Luxian casually threw her halberd, hitting one of the three large roots dead-on. Dozens fell or vanished from the sheer impact, and stray golden bolts from the halberd struck others nearby.
Seeing that this still wasn’t enough, Luxian decided to shrink again.
Everyone still on the roots grew frustrated but kept going, aiming to jump on Luxian.
Now back to her normal size—245cm—she looked ahead to see countless adventurers charging her way.
Faster now due to her smaller body, she vanished from sight. The ones who tried jumping onto her were met only with the ground.
She reappeared in front of a man fully clad in armor. Before he could react, Luxian slammed her foot into his side, breaking open his ribs and killing him instantly.
The man was hurled to the left, dragging a few others with him.
Those on the right and the ones at the front continued forward and tried to attack, only to fail miserably, vanishing and reappearing a few steps behind.
More adventurers came from behind—those who had leapt from the roots.
Fireballs, rocks, water blasts, wind spears, and other spells rained down on Luxian.
She muttered,
"This is... fun..."
Countless attacks landed, kicking up a thick cloud of dust.
After a moment of silence, a white-gauntleted hand reached out from the smoke and grabbed a nearby adventurer’s head.
She squeezed until his eyes popped out and his skull shattered.
She dropped the lifeless body to the ground and stepped out of the dust, fully clad in white and gold armor.
The mages began preparing another volley as the others continued their assault.
Luxian vanished again. Wherever she passed, bloody corpses were left behind, and her white armor began to turn red.

Floating above, Khan and Shubniggurath watched.
Khan asked,
"Do you think she’s holding back?"
The small half-shark girl simply nodded in affirmation.
I see... that’s why she hasn’t used any proper skills yet...
Rubbing his chin, he kept thinking.
Even so... I’m not sure I’d do the same... I’d honestly want to end this as fast as possible... or maybe she’s dragging it out on purpose?
Looking away from the bloody battlefield, he saw several mages far in the back preparing spells.
This magic is new... they need time to cast and don’t require Skills... at least, that’s what their sluggishness suggests...
Curious, he tried mimicking the shapes appearing in front of the mages. It worked—he summoned a circle in his hand, and a small flame hovered above it.
He felt something...
Activating this magic, I feel something inside me... slightly open... I don’t know why, but I imagine it’s some kind of core...
Where his heart should be, he felt something pulsing, sending energy to the circle in his hand. Once he dismissed it, the feeling stopped.
Interesting... when I use the system, I feel something in my head. But this world’s magic... something in my chest.
Looking away from the mages, he noticed a group trying to escape the fight.
Can I use them for a test?
With that thought, he telepathically contacted Luxian.
’I’ll take care of the group that’s running.’
Luxian was briefly surprised but quickly returned to normal and replied,
’Sure, go ahead.’
Luxian seemed to pick up the pace for some reason.
Khan glanced sideways at Shubniggurath and said,
"Gurath, wanna come with me?"
"Okay..."
With her reply, the two vanished from the sky.
---
The fleeing group was a chaotic mix of races, and Mark’s party was among them.
Mark spoke to his two companions,
"There’s no way we can fight that thing. That bitch was playing with us."
Even Norkim, usually quiet, commented,
"This time I agree... The best thing to do is run."
Silvia said nothing, conserving her breath.
"Damn it... I should’ve listened to Erin just this once."
Regretful, Mark kept running alongside the others, all equally terrified.
After a while, a pillar of fire erupted in front of them, then on both sides, and behind.
Those who tried to push through the yellow flames screamed in agony as they melted like wax dolls.
Seeing that, no one else dared move forward. They drew their weapons, expecting an attack.
From the fire ahead, two distinct figures emerged. One was dressed entirely in white, their face covered with a semi-transparent cloth that only let the glow of their blue eyes through.
And beside him was a girl who looked delicate, holding a large rabbit. Her white hair and blank face contrasted with her dark blue, sea-like eyes, and a shark tail lightly raised behind her.
Mark stared at the two and muttered,
"What the fuck is this now? More of those damn island freaks?"
Silvia replied,
"Looks like it..."
No one dared ask anything. But a random adventurer finally spoke.
"W-Who are you?"
The one dressed in white stared him down and replied coldly,
"Does it matter?"
An adventurer, still a bit cocky and bold (or maybe just stupid), wearing yellow armor, spoke up despite having run away earlier.
"Hmph, this time I’ve gotta side with the enemy," he raised his voice. "LET’S FUCKING GO!"
Some followed his lead. Mages began chanting, warriors readied their Qi.
Those with Traits activated them as well—some turned into grotesque beasts, others formed armor—filling the area with all sorts of strange mutations.
The white-clad figure said something strange to the girl beside him,
"I think I’ll leave this to you... I’m not interested in those who can’t even use magic... But don’t eat the air."
With that blunt command, the girl simply nodded.
From her arms, several mouths with sharp teeth opened, and a massive shadow spread beneath her.
Countless tentacles emerged from the darkness, each lined with gnashing mouths that screamed with torment and agony.
Those caught by the tentacles were sucked into the mouths. Anyone who cut one was met with two more.
Hearing the cries of those being devoured, Mark muttered,
"This is hell..."
With a tentacle approaching, he slashed at it.
Even severed, the tentacle kept pulling him in with its mouths.
It bit into his side. Seeing that, he tried to punch it, but it had no effect. When the suction started, his body bent unnaturally, his spine snapping as he coughed up blood. He couldn’t even struggle anymore.
Inside the tentacle, his soul would suffer for eternity, becoming just another scream of pain for the creature.
Norkim met the same fate, except he was bitten in the stomach, and when the suction began, his organs were pulled out first. Then his body was crushed to fit into the mouth.
Another soul added to the collection of suffering.
The tentacle stopped at Silvia, since she was a healer, and didn’t advance further.
With the tentacle moving in another direction, Silvia fell to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably.
This continued until only the mages remained.
Watching it all, Khan thought,
This is far more brutal than I had programmed...
He looked at the mages.
They’re still casting... maybe the shock delayed them? If that’s the case, maybe my move wasn’t the best choice...
With the warriors gone, Shubniggurath retracted her tentacles, and the mouths on her body closed.
Khan gently patted her head.
"Good job, Gurath."
At his praise, Shubniggurath let out a proud sigh, her tail swaying gently.
Khan found her reaction cute and momentarily let his guard down.
The mages unleashed their spells, raining magic down on them.
But the spells were stopped by an invisible barrier.
At least this Force Field Skill worked...
Everyone watching lost all hope as Khan spoke,
"Looks like my tests begin now..."
