My Cat Has Superpower?! -
Chapter 45 - 45 45 Advanced Blood Worm
45: Chapter 45: Advanced Blood Worm 45: Chapter 45: Advanced Blood Worm “Rip.”
Stepping on a crushed can, Lu Zixun’s fur instantly bristled.
Sounds that usually went unnoticed, in the quiet and silent alley, were so crisp and pleasant.
“Who’s there?”
“Ding—Killing Intent Value from Ye Xun detected: +500.”
“Ding—Killing Intent Value from Ling detected: +500.”
A violent shout burst forth from the alley, and soon two dark shadows chased out from within.
Lu Zixun broke into a cold sweat.
These two Abnormal Creatures, he was no match for.
But with his superpower, he could hold out until Zeng Haoyang arrived.
However, doing so would expose his identity as a STO member, and he wouldn’t be able to secretly protect Long Ya anymore.
After much consideration, Lu Zixun sank into his thoughts, pretending nothing was amiss as he walked towards the entrance of the alley, while meowing twice.
Feeling the locked-in killing intent, Lu Zixun’s legs went weak, and he nearly stumbled and fell.
He took a deep breath.
Lu Zixun’s body tensed, his fur on end; he turned to face the two Abnormal Creatures, emitting a ferocious growl from his mouth.
“Meow-ow!”
“Just a stray cat.”
The man infested with Blood Worms let out a sigh of relief, shaking his head and retracting the blood threads on his fingers.
Noticing the pet tag around Lu Zixun’s neck, the Alien’s eyes flickered with the intent to kill: “This cat has an owner.
If its owner discovers this place, that could be problematic.
Better to kill it.”
Listening to the creatures’ conversation, Lu Zixun’s expression hardened; it seemed he’d have to reveal his identity after all.
“Da Ju, where are you?”
Just then, Lu Zixun’s perked-up ears heard Zeng Haoyang calling out to him.
Not only did Lu Zixun hear it, but the two Abnormal Creatures did too.
After exchanging glances, they leaped back and melted into the darkness, vanishing from sight.
Seeing this, Lu Zixun turned tail and ran, cursing his own curiosity for nearly getting him killed.
Watching Lu Zixun run out of the alley, Zeng Haoyang peered profoundly into its depths.
Only when Lu Zixun reached his side did Zeng Haoyang warmly say, “Let’s go.”
Slumped in the passenger seat, Lu Zixun, panting with his tongue out, said, “That really scared the hell out of me, Fog Grass.”
No sooner had he finished speaking than Zeng Haoyang slapped him on the head: “Cats aren’t supposed to curse.”
Looking up and glaring at Zeng Haoyang, Lu Zixun spoke, “Back in the alley, I overheard the Blood Worms and Aliens hatching a conspiratorial plan.”
“I know.”
Lu Zixun, who expected Zeng Haoyang to be shocked, didn’t anticipate such a nonchalant response from him, who was driving calmly.
Now it was Lu Zixun’s turn to be shocked, looking at Zeng Haoyang incredulously, “How do you know?”
“Their stronghold was provided by STO.”
Raising his eyebrow, Zeng Haoyang gave Lu Zixun a glance and chuckled lightly, “To know your enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.”
“But…
but…”
Hearing Zeng Haoyang’s words, Lu Zixun’s brain seized up, and he looked at him, bewildered.
“Surprised?”
Driving towards the Mall, Zeng Haoyang’s smile vanished, “Compared to them lurking in unknown places to hunt, it’s better to offer a known location to them.
The dangers out in the light are not as threatening—and remember, these are comparable to Queen-level Blood Worms and Aliens.”
Comparable to Queen…
Lu Zixun felt a surge of surprise inside.
It was human names that the System Prompt Sound generated, not Blood Worm or Alien.
Could it mean that they could better disguise themselves, to the point that even the system couldn’t identify them?
Thinking of this, Lu Zixun shuddered; these Abnormal Creatures were not as simple as he thought.
“Was the conspiracy about taking over Chunhua City?”
Distracted Lu Zixun, upon hearing Zeng Haoyang’s question, nodded subconsciously, “They also mentioned the Guardian of a S-level city; this has to be connected to him.”
“Knowing the S-level Guardian isn’t in Chunhua City implies that Blood Worms have infiltrated even the higher echelons of STO.”
“If they’re seamlessly disguised, it must be due to the presence of high-level Blood Worms.”
Confused, Lu Zixun couldn’t help but ask, “What’s the difference between High-level Blood Worms and regular ones, and Queen-level Blood Worms?”
“Uh…
it’s like our Genetic Optimization Soldier rankings, the only difference is their abilities.”
Pausing for a moment, Zeng Haoyang continued, “The High-level Blood Worms are even more potent parasites.
Human technology can’t detect them at all.”
“Espionage?”
Lu Zixun uttered in bewilderment.
“Didn’t expect you to watch spy dramas.
Can a cat even understand them?”
Teasing him, Zeng Haoyang nodded, “You can think of it that way—we need to root out the Blood Worms’ moles in our organization, and the Blood Worms must prevent…
their own subordinates from betraying them.”
“Betrayal?”
That word, when tied to Abnormal Creatures, strangely unsettled Lu Zixun, “Do Abnormal Creatures also face betrayal and treason?”
“Of course.”
Nodding slightly, a shadow flickered across Zeng Haoyang’s eyes: “As I’ve said before, their intelligence rivals humans; so naturally, they fear death as well.”
“Would humans sell out information…
to Abnormal Creatures?”
No sooner had he spoken than Lu Zixun saw Zeng Haoyang’s seemingly amused gaze upon him.
As goosebumps rose on Lu Zixun’s skin, Zeng Haoyang finally said, “Haven’t you seen it already?
In that alley was a high-level Blood Worm called Ye Xun; he’s both a Blood Worm and human.”
“Huh?”
What kind of shocking plot twist was this?
Just as Lu Zixun thought he had grasped the situation, he found himself confounded once again.
“You’re still far from dealing with it.
Right now, what you need to do is to protect Long Ya well, and…”
Pausing, Zeng Haoyang sighed softly, “Also, let her have a joyful birthday without regrets.”
“Understood.”
Pushing these tangled thoughts deep down, Lu Zixun began to ponder how to give Long Ya a special birthday.
After thinking for a long time, Lu Zixun suddenly had a brilliant idea.
But it would require money, and although he did have money…
Lu Zixun was damnably a cat!
His gaze shifted towards Zeng Haoyang, as he organized his thoughts.
Lu Zixun then asked, “Old man, as a deputy director of STO, you must be quite rich, right?”
