Chapter 303: Chapter 302: Escape Room - Outstanding Performance
The three carefree teams had instantly assembled upon the arrival of danger, scanning their surroundings to guard against any changes.
Unfortunately, their vigilance was in vain.
Zeng Haoyang, standing in front of the monitor, reached out and pressed a button.
On the monitor screen, the ground slowly opened to both sides, and the team standing in the center fell down before they could react.
"Hopefully, they will all get some training out of this."
A white gas appeared in the deep tunnels, and the panicking team naturally didn’t hold their breath; they inhaled the gas and fell unconscious.
"Meow?"
Calling out tentatively, Zixun found himself surrounded by darkness.
The team members on the ground lay motionless, like corpses.
Lu Zixun got to his feet and shook off his mane, then expanded his Spiritual Energy to check the conditions of these people.
After confirming they were only unconscious and not dead, Lu Zixun breathed a sigh of relief, having nearly died of fright himself.
Surveying the surroundings, Lu Zixun roughly figured out where they were.
Now, a bunch of people were in a small room, probably dragged in by someone, and it seemed they were supposed to find a way out from there.
He walked straight toward the door and found it was just a thin metal door.
Just as Lu Zixun was about to whip it open with his tail, a line of text appeared on the metal door.
"You shall observe the whole process, no intervention allowed."
Behind it was an animated portrait of Zeng Haoyang, and Lu Zixun’s mouth twitched in annoyance as he reluctantly retracted his tail.
If he was supposed to watch, why had they brought him here?
He also remembered the drugging incident with Xiong Kang; he would definitely teach Xiong Kang a lesson if they met later.
As time passed and Lu Zixun grew bored, pondering whether to activate the system to draw a prize for a little celebration, Cheng Tianxiang slowly regained consciousness.
"Based on their performance, you can give them scores."
Just as Lu Zixun was about to speak, a foreign female voice suddenly rang in his ear, startling him.
The female voice didn’t continue, and Lu Zixun no longer felt like speaking; his gaze fell on Cheng Tianxiang.
Cheng Tianxiang, waking up in unfamiliar darkness, didn’t rashly turn on any lights; he quietly lay on the ground, listening to the movements around him.
Only after discerning no strange noises did Cheng Tianxiang slowly sit up, checked for injuries, and began to survey the surroundings.
Lu Zixun watched Cheng Tianxiang’s every move and couldn’t help but nod.
Cats can see in the dark; humans cannot.
The series of extremely cautious actions that Chen Tianxiang had just taken were indeed very good.
"Lord Cat, now you can score each person’s ability to cope with unfamiliar environments."
The voice that had just appeared resounded again.
However, this time Lu Zixun was already accustomed to it; he had sensed where the sound had come from.
In the upper right corner of the room, there was a small hole, from which the Spiritual Energy emerged.
At that moment, light illuminated the entire room; Cheng Tianxiang’s hands trembled when he saw the green glow of Lu Zixun’s pupils. The tactical flashlight fell to the ground.
His mental fortitude is somewhat lacking.
Lu Zixun raised a paw and licked it, surprised at his own cuteness, which could still startle someone.
If it were the Insect Clan with their horrendous appearance, it would probably knock someone unconscious from fright.
"Deputy Captain Lu, why are you standing behind me?"
Cheng Tianxiang patted his chest and bent down to pick up the tactical flashlight, nervously looking at Lu Zixun.
"I’m just standing here spacing out; what else could I do?" Lu Zixun deflected the conversation.
"Now that you’re awake, see where this is and figure out how we can get out."
Cheng Tianxiang tried to use his Spiritual Energy to probe the room but suddenly his expression changed - he couldn’t use his Spiritual Energy.
Seeing Cheng Tianxiang’s face turn ugly, Lu Zixun frowned. "No Spiritual Energy, no hands?"
Cheng Tianxiang took a deep breath and nodded. "I just lost my composure."
First, he shook his teammates awake one by one.
Lu Zixun glanced over and realized that not all the members of the three teams were in the room, only a part of them. So, where were the others?
Frowning, Lu Zixun saw Wu Zhouyun approaching him.
"Deputy Captain Lu, can you use your Spiritual Energy?"
Just as Lu Zixun was about to nod, remembering Zeng Haoyang’s warning not to intervene, he shook his head indicating he couldn’t.
Wu Zhouyun looked downheartedly and scratched his head in frustration. "Then how are we supposed to get out of here?"
"Over here."
Having somewhat lost his composure at the start, Cheng Tianxiang had regained his calmness and found a clue for leaving the room.
At that, Lu Zixun, also curious, followed him. Cheng Tianxiang, holding the tactical flashlight, found a strange sequence of letters under the washbasin.
"ppie."
Wu Zhouyun furrowed his brows at the sight, and his frown deepened. "What does this mean?"
At this moment, Lu Zixun was also baffled; he didn’t understand the purpose of this string of letters, but undoubtedly, it was some sort of hint.
"Found under the washbasin, so it’s definitely related to that," deduced Cheng Tianxiang, squinting his eyes. "I’ve checked the door, and it can’t be broken through by force, so our only way out has to be from there."
He pointed up toward the vent.
Cheng Tianxiang’s gaze fell on Lu Zixun. "We need to build a human ladder to remove the self-tapping screws outside the vent duct. It definitely won’t work by hand; we need a tool."
The cogent analysis earned an agreeing nod from Lu Zixun.
He hadn’t figured it out anyway; such cryptic matters weren’t his forte.
"Okay, I understand the principle, but where is this thing?"
Rolling his eyes, Wu Zhouyun was somewhat unconvincing. "I’ve already searched the room and found no tools."
Frowning again, Cheng Tianxiang fell into thought.
Indeed, apart from the soap on the sink, there was nothing else in the room that could be used... wait a second.
Spotting Lu Zixun standing by the tubing near the washbasin, a light bulb went on for Cheng Tianxiang. "I’ve got it!"
"ppie, rearranged to spell ’pipe,’ which means tube. The tool must be hidden inside this pipe."
Approaching the pipe, Cheng Tianxiang squeezed the hose and felt indeed there was something hard inside.
"There really is something here."
Seeing Cheng Tianxiang truly finding a clue, Wu Zhouyun looked a bit more pleased.
Gripping where the hard object was to prevent it from slipping, Wu Zhouyun tried to pull the hose out with force.
But the hose didn’t budge, as if it were fixed in place.
"It won’t come out; we have to cut the hose open."
Shaking his head at Cheng Tianxiang, Wu Zhouyun felt a big headache.
