Chapter 257: Chapter 256: The Terrifying Roller Coaster
"Ao, Ao, Ao!"
The moment he fell from the rooftop, Lu Zixun started howling.
He thought that with his ability to control magnetic fields, being in a state of constant levitation wouldn’t scare him, but when the moment arrived, deep down, Lu Zixun couldn’t help but feel terrified.
Turning his head in mid-air, Lu Zixun caught sight of Xiong Kang with a pale face, and only then did he feel a bit more at ease.
It turned out he wasn’t the only one scared, which was a relief to Lu Zixun.
After getting off the drop tower, both man and cat had shaky legs and looked at each other with eyes full of fright.
This thing was more terrifying than facing the Insect Clan, somewhat unsteadily following behind Lin Siyin.
Just as Lu Zixun was considering using his Spiritual Energy, Lin Siyin turned around with a smile and picked him up.
"I didn’t expect Lord Cat to be such a scaredy-cat."
Teasing Lu Zixun, Lin Siyin caught up with the main group.
Feeling a sense of embarrassment, Lu Zixun lifted his paws to cover his head, stealing a glance at Xiong Kang from between them.
At that moment, Guo Xin’er was holding Xiong Kang, who also had an embarrassed look on his face, making Lu Zixun suddenly feel much better.
After all, it’s reasonable for a cat to be afraid, but for a grown man to be scared, that would be much more humiliating.
The group laughed and joked all the way to the next amusement.
Seeing the ride, Lu Zixun and Xiong Kang exchanged looks, both pale and feeling unwell.
"Da Ju and I feel a bit like going to the bathroom; you guys go first."
Xiong Kang was never one to pretend to be tough when he couldn’t handle it, and he casually mentioned it to Guo Xin’er.
"No way, hurry up."
Guo Xin’er, picking up on Xiong Kang’s fear, held onto his arm to prevent him from fleeing.
She then turned to Lu Zixun with a slight smile and said, "I’m sure Da Ju wouldn’t be scared, right?"
"Well... of course not."
Casting a disdainful glance at Xiong Kang, Lu Zixun rubbed Lin Siyin’s arm, speaking with righteous indignation, "Besides, I’ve got to keep Si Yin company!"
Watching Lu Zixun betray his friend like that, Xiong Kang looked at him incredulously and gave him the middle finger while others were checking their tickets.
"Lü lü lü."
Lu Zixun stuck his tongue out at Xiong Kang, showing he was totally unfazed.
Lin Siyin had just taught him a way to not be afraid – simply closing his eyes would do.
Strapped into the roller coaster seat, Lu Zixun couldn’t wait to see Xiong Kang embarrass himself.
"Ao, Ao, Ao!"
Earlier, Lu Zixun was utterly calm, but as the roller coaster reached its peak, he confidently closed his eyes.
At the instant when the weightlessness of the drop kicked in, Lu Zixun still screamed out in distress – Lin Siyin’s method... it didn’t work at all!
"I am scared to death, scared to death."
During the calmer moments, Lu Zixun raised his paw to pat his chest, nearly entering a soul-lost state, but then the roller coaster entered a pitch-black tunnel.
"Hey, hey, hey? Did I just go blind on this roller coaster ride?"
Just as Xiong Kang had opened his eyes, he found himself in darkness and said to Guo Xin’er.
"Idiot, it’s a tunnel."
Unable to bear Xiong Kang’s wailing any longer, Lu Zixun hastened to speak up.
"Hmm?"
As he eyed the coaster’s forthcoming path, Lu Zixun’s brows furrowed. Just as he entered the tunnel, he thought he saw something reflective ahead.
What could be reflecting light inside a tunnel?
"Kang Ning!"
Feeling a vague unease, Lu Zixun called out to Xiong Kang.
The serious and solemn voice reached Xiong Kang’s ears, and he immediately understood.
His Flying Sword unsheathed, the Sword Array activated, emitting Spiritual Energy that illuminated the entire tunnel.
Seeing clearly the wires strung across the path of the coaster, Lu Zixun’s eyes narrowed. "I knew something was off, so this is what it was."
The wires stretched across the tunnel, coupled with the high speed of the coaster, were enough to kill everyone on board in a split second.
"Damn it!"
In anger, Xiong Kang released his Sword Qi to sever the wires, his body raging like a lion as he turned to look at a spot inside the tunnel.
Ming Ju, who was hiding in the tunnel, panicked as Xiong Kang’s gaze swept over.
Then he reassured himself, "With my abilities, it’s impossible for him to find me."
"Die!"
A voice like one from the depths of the Nine Netherworld shivered Ming Ju’s heart.
Shortly after, several streaks of sword light surged forth, conveying Xiong Kang’s rage.
"Freeze."
At the same time, Lu Zixun’s voice rang out, and Ming Ju, attempting to escape, crashed into an Ice Wall.
His eyes saw the Sword Qi approaching fast, about to pierce through his skull.
Ming Ju raised his hand, and a flame similar to Lu Zixun’s Spiritual Fire surrounded his body, forming a barrier of flame Armor.
The surrounding ice began to melt under the heat of the flames.
The Sword Qi struck the Armor of fire, vanishing without a trace. The Sword Qi penetrated Ming Ju’s body, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.
In desperation, he smashed into the melting Ice Wall, which shattered at the impact. Dropping a smoke bomb, Ming Ju vanished into thin air.
Emerging from the tunnel, Lu Zixun and Xiong Kang had grim expressions.
The seat belts had been too tight; they hadn’t unlatched and jumped in time to finish Ming Ju, allowing him to escape.
The previously frightened duo, a man and his cat, now sat with solemn faces on the coaster, unphased by the sensation of weightlessness as they took out a mobile phone.
"Elite squad, enter the water park and look for the injured person carrying my Sword Qi. You can kill on sight, no need for mercy!"
His eyes sparkled coldly as the coaster reached its apex, surveying the water park from above, searching for the escaping Ming Ju.
Meanwhile, Lu Zixun took out his phone and immediately contacted someone from the Ancient God Sect, scoffing as he sent a message, "The ’no second time’ you spoke of, was it all about wanting us to die in the tunnel?"
Unaware of what had transpired, Shadow Kill was baffled by Lu Zixun’s sudden fury.
Taking a deep breath, Shadow Kill finally spoke, "Lord Cat, please hold on a moment."
He picked up another phone and entered a group chat shrouded in mist, "What just happened at the water park? I asked you to look out for any unusual individuals. Are you all sleeping on the job?"
"Huh? Boss Shadow Kill, nothing happened."
"Yeah, I’ve been watching Lord Cat and his group the entire time; no strange individuals followed them."
Seeing these messages, the frustrated yet laughing Shadow Kill’s fingers danced furiously on the screen, "You’re all useless pigs, if Lord Cat is calling me, how can you say nothing happened?"
"Get to the coaster’s tunnel now and find out who’s behind this. If you can’t, be ready to face the consequences!"
