Chapter 84 - 84 82 Mind Your Tongue
Chapter 84: Chapter 82: Mind Your Tongue Chapter 84: Chapter 82: Mind Your Tongue …
Sheng Xian was a very restrained person, usually only socializing for unavoidable work-related events, and he rarely went out in the evenings, opting instead to stay alone, either at home or at school, where he read case files, analyzed cases, or prepared lessons.
Today was an exception, as Yang Xu, who had not contacted him for many years, asked him out for a drink.
The chosen location was his least favorite kind of venue, but despite not having seen Mrs. Chen for a long time, he eventually chose to go out.
Upon arriving, he instantly saw Lu Jingyan’s car.
Feeling slightly surprised, he took a second look and then ascended the steps into the club.
Having been to this place only once before with Chen Kai, he wasn’t very familiar with the layout and took the wrong corridor, ending up on the other side.
As Sheng Xian was about to circle back, he suddenly heard the name “Lu Jingyan” amid the music and noise, paused, and followed the sound.
On the other side of the corridor, Lu Jingyan stood by the innermost booth and suddenly leaned close to the person who was speaking.
The person who called Lu Jingyan’s name suddenly fell silent.
“The person begging you is Lu Zhou, not me, Lu Jingyan.”
Her voice was as pleasant as ever but carried an added chill.
From his angle, he could clearly see her profile. In the dim light of the bar, her skin shone pale, her dark, long curly hair naturally fell on one side of her face, and the hair on the side facing him cascaded down her back. The neckline of her sweater revealed a small segment of her delicate, fair neck.
The expression in her eyes and brows conveyed impatience, as if she was about to flip the table next to her at any moment.
Her tone was harsh, and her words were unkind, full of undisguised contempt and disdain.
Indeed, her presence was formidable, every move radiating a queen-like arrogance.
In a word, she was extremely arrogant and proud.
After dropping her remark, Lu Jingyan walked away without looking back.
The people at the table seemed stunned, remaining quiet for a good half minute.
By the time Sheng Xian circled around, the people at that table were gradually coming to their senses. One of them exclaimed, “Fuck,” and reached out to someone nearby, “Lend me your phone a sec.”
Seated with his back to Sheng Xian, he still recognized him as the one Lu Jingyan had just warned.
He took the borrowed phone and dialed a number. As soon as it connected, he exploded, “Lu Zhou, are you fucking playing me?”
“Calm down? How the fuck do you want me to calm down? Right now I feel like dragging that bitch Lu Jingyan back here and killing her.”
“What’s up with her, Lu Jingyan? Having no dad or mom and still acting like she’s some princess of the Lu family?”
“Don’t forget, it was your Lu family who insisted on pushing her on me. If it weren’t for her somewhat decent face, do you think I’d be interested in her?”
“I’ll make it clear to you, marrying her is impossible! I just want to play around with her…”
Suddenly, something happened on the other end of the call, and it was abruptly hung up.
Yang Xu, irate, cursed and threw the phone aside, then started swearing at the people around the table again, “I don’t know where Lu Jingyan gets her audacity from, always so proud. The Lu family doesn’t know how many deals they’ve made because of her, a woman who’s been with so many men, and she still thinks about marrying me? Ha…”
Before he could finish, his shoulder was gently tapped.
Yang Xu looked up and saw Sheng Xian standing behind him. He paused, “Brother…”
Before he could finish, Sheng Xian leaned forward, grabbed a bottle of Western liquor from the table, and smashed it over Yang Xu’s head.
The bottle shattered, alcohol mixed with glass shards splashed everywhere.
Several girls screamed in fear.
Yang Xu was stunned for a while before coming to his senses. He raised his hand to wipe his face, his hand covered in red. The blood, diluted by the alcohol, dripped down his body, creating a shocking and horrifying sight.
Yang Xu moved her eyes incredulously, “Sheng Xian, have you lost your mind!”
Sheng Xian’s eyes were terrifyingly cold as he stared at the still oozing blood droplets on Yang Xu’s head, his facial expression unchanging.
Just as Yang Xu was about to speak again, Sheng Xian suddenly raised his hand and smashed the remaining half of the wine bottle onto the table.
The glasses fell in a chain, the liquid spreading across the entire table, dripping onto the floor from the edges in streams.
Yang Xu, whether out of fright or shocked by the never-before-seen demeanor of Sheng Xian, instantly lost her voice.
The others, seeing this scene, dared not even breathe.
Sheng Xian coldly glanced at Yang Xu, leaned over to pull two tissues from the table, slowly wiped the blood off his hands, then tossed the tissues onto Yang Xu’s face, “Mind your mouth.”
…
After leaving the club, Sheng Xian stood by the roadside, blowing in the cold wind for a while, his heart still turbulent.
He, who never smoked, looking at the store operating across the street, felt an urge to go in and buy a pack of cigarettes.
An ambulance drove up, stopping at the entrance of the club.
Shortly after, Yang Xu, holding her forehead, accompanied by several mates, emerged from the club and got into the ambulance.
Watching the ambulance drive away, Sheng Xian heard Yang Xu’s words ringing in his ears.
“No father, no mother, and still you think you’re the Lu Family’s miss? It was your Lu Family who insisted on pushing her onto me… marrying her, impossible… The Lu Family has no idea how many businesses they’ve secured through her…”
Sheng Xian felt even more suffocated.
He raised his hand, tore open his tie, and unbuttoned the top two buttons, finally breathing a bit more freely.
He couldn’t clearly define his feelings at the moment.
There was anger, but also heartache.
Yang Xu’s words felt like knives repeatedly slashing at his heart.
He suddenly recalled the night of Chen Kai’s birthday, when he sat in his car and saw her alone on the sidewalk, head tilted back, smoking.
Back then, through her glamour, he saw the end.
It was only today he realized he hadn’t been wrong that day.
Sheng Xian had thought he had forgotten many insignificant details, but he discovered he remembered them very clearly.
He remembered the first time they ate supper together after midnight when he came out of school and saw her.
She, beamingly, drove him home, flirting shamelessly with him along the way.
Finally, when she saw he was about to explode, she locked the car and told him to stay with her for five minutes.
He suddenly felt grateful that he, soft-hearted, had asked her if she was hungry after getting out of the car that night.
Thinking about it now, her seemingly casual comment was actually a plea from her.
With the constant traffic on the street, Sheng Xian leaned against a tree, tilting his head back and closing his eyes.
After a short while, Sheng Xian took out his phone and made a call.
The phone rang several times before it was answered.
“Hello?” Her voice sounded so natural.
Sheng Xian’s throat felt as though it was being gripped, distressingly making it hard to breathe; he paused for three seconds, his voice a bit hoarse as he asked, “Where are you?”
