Chapter 349: Chapter 349 What Exactly Do You Want to Do

Lin Qian went to the shop, and her mood had already calmed down.

The new week had begun. Her son was so outstanding—as his mother, she couldn’t afford to bring shame to him.

Lin Qian maintained a pleasant demeanor and threw herself into work.

Because a recent promotion had just ended, the shop’s business wasn’t particularly busy.

Lin Qian focused on wrapping up the promotional tasks, and when things settled down in the afternoon, she took a sip of water, flipped through the performance reports, and suddenly remembered that the final payment from the Gu Family was still unsettled due to a mishap.

Thinking of this, she put down her cup and pondered briefly before dialing the Gu Family.

On the call, when Lin Qian mentioned coming by to settle the payment, the finance department at the Gu Family didn’t make things difficult for her and told her to come at three o’clock to finalize the transaction.

Lin Qian hung up the call, checked the time, tidied herself up casually, informed Chen Fei, and set off.

Arriving at the Gu Group’s building, Lin Qian explained her purpose to the receptionist. The receptionist smiled and directed her upstairs to a meeting room to wait; someone would come to handle the payment.

At that moment, footsteps echoed behind her.

The receptionist glanced toward the approaching figure and greeted with respect, "Manager Lu."

"Hmm."

Upon hearing the commotion, Lin Qian involuntarily turned around to see Lu Jun entering from the doorway, his gaze falling on her with an expressionless face.

Lu Jun?

Lin Qian didn’t have a good impression of this man. Tightening her lips, she refrained from speaking and instead smiled politely at the receptionist while gesturing toward the elevator, "I’ll head up then."

"Alright." The receptionist courteously signaled Lin Qian to proceed upstairs.

Lin Qian nodded, adjusted the strap of her shoulder bag, and strode toward the elevator.

Behind her, Lu Jun’s eyes tracked Lin Qian’s retreating figure, a fleeting glint of cold malice flashing through them.

He quickly followed suit, stepping up beside Lin Qian and waiting for the elevator together.

Neither of them spoke until the elevator opened.

When the individuals inside exited, Lin Qian pursed her lips and stepped into the elevator, with Lu Jun following closely behind.

The elevator doors closed, and the lift started rising steadily.

The atmosphere in the confined space felt heavy; Lin Qian stared at the reflection of the man’s outline on the elevator wall, sensing an unnatural chill in his silent demeanor.

Lin Qian shuffled slightly to the side, unsure why she instinctively distanced herself.

She simply knew that she didn’t want to be too close to this man.

From the corner of his eye, Lu Jun noticed Lin Qian’s subtle movement, a shadow of mockery flashing in his gaze as the corners of his mouth curled into a smirk.

Ding!

The elevator finally reached the floor of the meeting room.

Lin Qian let out a breath and stepped briskly out of the elevator.

"Miss Lin, are you here to settle the final payment for that batch of uniforms?"

Lu Jun’s voice sounded from behind, causing Lin Qian’s steps to pause momentarily. She turned to look at him and nodded, "Yes."

"Hmm, the finance department is a bit busy right now. I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a while."

Lu Jun spoke leisurely as he walked.

Lin Qian remained silent for a moment and then smiled, "That’s fine—I’ve got time."

Was Lu Jun purposefully trying to make things difficult for her?

If that was the case, Lin Qian had mentally prepared herself for it. Since she was already here, enduring some hassle wouldn’t matter as long as she managed to finalize the payment.

Lu Jun shot Lin Qian a look—the chill in his eyes was apparent—but then said no more, striding forward.

Lin Qian exhaled deeply, feeling the goosebumps suddenly forming on her arms, and hurried toward the meeting room.

This Lu Jun—so eerie!

She hoped to never have to deal with someone like him again in the future.

Arriving at the meeting room, Lin Qian was met by someone prepared to assist her.

The weather was slightly chilly, but the Gu Group had their air conditioning running quite strong.

Staff members smiled as they handed her a cup of water, indicating she should wait for a moment.

Lin Qian didn’t overthink things. She sat quietly on the sofa, drinking water while scrolling through the news.

After about forty minutes, someone arrived to handle the payment.

Lin Qian was slightly surprised—she had thought she’d be waiting the entire afternoon.

After some brief interaction, the paperwork on both sides was processed, and the payment was successfully completed.

Looking at the payment amount displayed on the company’s records, Lin Qian smiled brightly.

She hadn’t expected the payment process to go so smoothly—another task completed.

Thanking the staff, Lin Qian grabbed her bag and prepared to leave.

Just as she reached the elevator, a man’s eerily calm voice called out from behind.

"Miss Lin, you’ve finished the transaction already?"

Lin Qian took a deep breath, feeling a prickling unease across her skin.

Why did it seem like Lu Jun had been intentionally waiting for her?

Tightening her lips, Lin Qian turned her head slightly toward him, "Yes. Manager Lu, are you heading out again already?"

"Hmm, I’ve got something urgent to deal with," Lu Jun responded, giving her a sly smile. "You know, in sales, unexpected situations are bound to occur."

What he said wasn’t wrong.

But Lin Qian couldn’t shake the strange feeling bubbling in her chest.

The way Lu Jun looked at her was... sinister. The feeling was reminiscent of being watched by a venomous snake—it was deeply unsettling.

Lin Qian’s mind raced with thoughts about whether she should come up with an excuse to keep her distance, but by then the elevator had arrived.

"Miss Lin, please," Lu Jun gestured courteously, and Lin Qian hesitated briefly before stepping into the elevator.

It was just sharing a ride in the elevator—once they reached the ground floor, their paths would diverge.

Little did she know, she was already on Lu Jun’s radar.

Lin Qian stood quietly in the corner of the elevator, watching the numbers on the display climb steadily downward, waiting for the ride to end.

Suddenly, her vision blurred, and a wave of dizziness swept over her head.

Lin Qian closed her eyes and leaned against the elevator wall, shaking her head as hard as she could.

What was happening to her?

Why was she suddenly feeling so faint?

"Miss Lin, are you alright? Are you feeling unwell?"

Lu Jun stepped closer and reached out to support her.

Lin Qian only felt a tightness in her chest, the dizziness worsening with every passing second.

Raising her eyes toward Lu Jun, she caught a glimpse of the triumphant glint in his gaze.

"Lu Jun, you..."

A bad feeling struck her heart like lightning.

Could it be... Lu Jun had set her up?

"Miss Lin, you look unwell—I’ll take you to the hospital immediately," Lu Jun said, pulling her close. His chilling voice echoed in her ears.

Lin Qian’s chest heaved violently as she desperately tried to break free, but her arms and legs had gone limp, and the dizziness made it nearly impossible to move.

"Lu Jun, what exactly are you trying to do?"

Why was her dizziness worsening?

She had only had a glass of water.

So, had Lu Jun laid a trap from the start, waiting for her to fall prey?

What did he plan on doing to her?

"You’ll find out soon enough, Lin Qian," Lu Jun hissed coldly.

The elevator chimed again, signaling its arrival at the ground floor. Lu Jun looked at the unconscious woman in his arms and curled his lips into a chilling smile.

Tightening his hold on her, he turned and headed out through the company’s back door.

...

An isolated village, a dimly-lit room.

A woman lay motionless on the icy concrete floor.

Her shoulder-length hair concealed half of her pale face.

Light filtered through the window and illuminated Lin Qian’s delicate features, her eyes tightly shut.

At the moment, her thoughts were muddled and scattered.

Her eyelashes fluttered slightly, as though she was on the verge of waking up.

"Boss, where did you find such a beautiful woman? Are you really going to let us have her?"

"Boss, she doesn’t look like one of those... working ladies, does she? If we mess with her, won’t we get into trouble?"
