Chapter 330: Chapter 330: The Boss Behind the Scenes

Hearing Lin Qian’s words and seeing the undisguised ridicule and mockery in her gaze, Yin Moran’s temples throbbed with visible veins.

She’s assuming things again!

Ultimately, she just doesn’t trust him.

Would she even listen to him if he explained now?

What could he possibly say to win back her heart and make her forgive him?

Yin Moran pressed his thin lips tightly, but before he could speak, Lin Qian let out a sneer. "Alright, Mr. Yin, you’re a busy man. Go do what you need to do. Stop standing here like a lamppost."

Disappointment and heartbreak. She didn’t even know what she’d been hoping for.

See? He doesn’t even bother to explain.

Should she really be sticking herself out there like this?

Lin Qian swallowed the bitterness in her throat, turned around, and entered the ward.

Yin Moran frowned deeply and was about to call out to her when Han Chen’s voice came from behind. "Mr. Yin."

Yin Moran paused his step, turned around to look at Han Chen, his Adam’s apple moving slightly, and responded indifferently with a hum.

In the past few days while he was on a business trip, he had instructed Han Chen to personally investigate the situation regarding the high-end club in Yun City.

Having learned that he was back, Han Chen hurried over to report his findings.

"How did it go?"

Yin Moran got straight to the point.

Han Chen, having rushed over, took a deep breath and lowered his head slightly in shame. "Sorry, Mr. Yin, I couldn’t locate Miss Qiao Xixian."

Couldn’t find her?

A living, breathing woman, yet she seemed to have vanished into thin air?

Yin Moran’s dark eyes were as deep as night, and the air around him turned icy.

Han Chen swallowed anxiously, hurriedly adding, "But I did uncover something else—information about the club’s owner."

Information about the club owner?

The chill around Yin Moran remained unchanged. His inky eyes fixed on Han Chen as he listened to the explanation.

"Mr. Yin, according to my investigation, four years ago, the ownership of this high-end club transferred to a new boss, but this person has never shown his face—extremely mysterious. On the day you had trouble with Qiao Xiya, the club manager instructed all staff to be on high alert, ensuring the venue was spotless, apparently to welcome a VIP. This VIP appeared to be the true boss behind the club."

Han Chen paused briefly, glanced at Yin Moran, and continued, "Since you’re certain you saw Qiao Xixian, yet she’s disappeared without a trace, I suspect foul play—someone intentionally hiding her from you. But concealing someone requires considerable resources. After extensive investigation, I tracked all the movements of the club manager and discovered that he secretly met with a man. This man turns out to be the club’s hidden boss."

Despite Han Chen’s lengthy explanation, he still hadn’t provided anything meaningful.

Yin Moran’s face showed an evident impatience.

"Get to the point. Who is this hidden boss?"

Is it this hidden boss who concealed Qiao Xixian?

Why?

"Mr. Yin, you might recall that the Qiao sisters have an older brother. After extensive confirmation by my team, this club’s hidden boss is that very person."

Han Chen stopped beating around the bush and revealed directly.

Qiao Xixian and Qiao Xiya’s brother?

Yin Moran’s gaze flickered, his sharp brows furrowing deeply.

Before Qiao Xixian’s incident, he had originally planned to marry her and had therefore asked people to investigate her background.

Indeed, the Qiao parents only had two daughters under their name, but when the girls were young, they had adopted a son from an orphanage.

For some unknown reason, this adopted son had been expelled from the family once he turned twenty, never to be heard from again.

No one would’ve expected him to be the owner behind this club.

Yin Moran was deep in thought when Han Chen continued, "Mr. Yin, I’ve investigated this person closely. Six years ago, a notorious organization called Dark Gate emerged, operating international ventures, taking on anything profitable without any ethical boundaries. The leader of this organization, known as Mr. Qi, is none other than the Qiao family’s adopted son."

Mr. Qi?

It’s really him?

Yin Moran narrowed his eyes, his handsome face tense and cold.

In business, one is bound to come into contact with various forces and figures.

Though he had never dealt with Mr. Qi, he had heard of this name.

This man was known for being ruthless, just as Han Chen described—doing anything for profit, regardless of principles.

So why did he suddenly appear at the club that day?

He was the adopted son of the Qiao family, Qiao Xiya’s nominal brother. Could he have been helping Qiao Xiya scheme against him?

"Mr. Yin, I think the reason for your trouble might be that Miss Qiao Xiya asked for his help—to arrange for a woman resembling Miss Qiao Xixian to work with him in setting you up. This wasn’t your voluntary doing. If you reveal what we’ve uncovered to Miss Lin, I believe she would forgive your unintended mistake."

Han Chen glanced at Yin Moran cautiously, summarizing his thoughts.

He truly felt sympathy for his boss!

Duped by Qiao Xiya again.

Yin Moran said nothing, a dark shadow clouding his brow.

The reasoning was sound, but a certain little woman simply refused to trust him.

He could tell—she believed his entanglement with Qiao Xiya stemmed from his connection to Qiao Xixian.

But he had been entirely set up that day.

Yin Moran’s head ached.

Days of travel and worry left a trace of exhaustion on his features.

Rubbing his temple, his voice was low, "Han Chen, continue investigating this club and its hidden boss. Make sure to find out who that woman was from that day."

The woman—who is she?

He couldn’t be mistaken. That face was identical to Qiao Xixian’s. Could it really not be her?

"Understood."

Han Chen accepted the order. Yin Moran gestured for him to leave first. Afterward, he turned toward the ward, looking inside through the window.

Chu Yelin had once again saved Lin Qian.

And at this particular moment.

Could this be considered misfortune piling on misfortune?

Was even fate conspiring against him?

Yin Moran pressed his lips tightly, and his dark eyes churned with emotion.

Inside the ward, Chu Yelin slowly regained consciousness.

Xu Xinyi noticed first and exclaimed with joy, "Lin, you’re awake?"

Chu Yelin’s eye movements shifted slightly as he glanced at her, then continued looking around, instinctively searching for Lin Qian.

Xu Xinyi’s smile faltered as she slowly let go of his hand. "You’re looking for Lin Qian, aren’t you? She went to the restroom."

At that moment, Lin Qian stepped out of the restroom.

Hearing Xu Xinyi’s words, she hurried over.

"Chu Yelin, you’re awake?"

Lin Qian was genuinely happy, lifting her face with a smile as she looked at Chu Yelin.

Beside them, Xu Xinyi pursed her lips and silently got up to move aside, making space for the two.

"Yeah, Qianqian, I’m not dead!"

Chu Yelin reached out his hand toward Lin Qian and firmly grasped hers.

Lin Qian’s smile froze as her gaze fell on their intertwined hands, her almond-shaped eyes flickering slightly.

Chu Yelin’s first words upon waking were to tell her that he wasn’t dead.

So, was he subtly reminding her to keep her promise?
