Chapter 323: Chapter 323: Something Happened
Lin Qian’s heart instantly tightened.
She quickly turned around, pushed open the doors of the Gu Group, and headed straight to the roadside.
Lin Yi’s car had already taken Gu Yan away at full speed.
Lin Qian was anxious. Without thinking further, she hailed a cab on the roadside and told the driver to chase after them as fast as possible.
Although she didn’t like Gu Yan, she wasn’t heartless either.
If something happened to Gu Yan, Mr. Gu and Madam Gu would be devastated.
For their sake, she couldn’t just stand by and watch Gu Yan get into trouble.
Lin Qian forced herself to calm down, took a deep breath, and pulled out her phone to call Gu Yan.
She had to stay composed and not panic.
Right now, she first needed to determine whether Gu Yan was aware that the driver was Lin Yi.
Maybe it was all just a misunderstanding, and she was overthinking it.
The dial tone rang out, one buzz after another, like knocks on Lin Qian’s heart.
Gu Yan, just pick up the phone!
Finally, the call connected.
Through the static, Gu Yan’s lazy and impatient voice came through.
"Lin Qian? What else is there to talk about?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Qian composed herself and said, "Gu Yan, why didn’t you drive your own car today? Do you know the driver of the car you’re in right now?"
The car looked like a regular private vehicle—could it be Gu Yan booked a ride-hailing service?
But Lin Yi used to be a wealthy young master; how could he end up as a ride-hailing driver?
"Lin Qian, why are you suddenly so concerned about me? I didn’t drive my own car because it’s in for maintenance, obviously! As for the driver..."
Gu Yan paused, her tone filled with arrogance, "Lin Qian, what exactly are you trying to ask? I am the distinguished daughter of the Gu Family—how could I possibly know some lowly ride-hailing driver?"
Gu Yan said she didn’t know Lin Yi!
That meant Gu Yan hadn’t recognized the driver as Lin Yi.
And Lin Yi hadn’t revealed his identity either.
There was definitely something suspicious going on here.
Lin Qian pressed her lips together tightly, her sharp gaze fixed on the road ahead. Watching the car in front speed away, her unease grew stronger.
"Gu Yan, did you book this ride through a car-hailing app?"
If Gu Yan had indeed booked the ride through the app, there might still be a chance that Lin Qian was misunderstanding the situation.
But if she hadn’t...
"Nope! Lin Qian, what are you trying to say? I... Ah!"
Before Gu Yan could finish her sentence, the call abruptly ended.
The last sound that reached Lin Qian’s ears was Gu Yan’s startled scream.
The sinking feeling in Lin Qian’s chest intensified. Seeing the car in front take a turn and disappear from sight, she urgently told the driver to speed up.
It wasn’t her imagination—there was definitely something wrong with Lin Yi!
Why was he pretending to be a ride-hailing driver?
What was he planning to do to Gu Yan?
Lin Qian forced herself to stay composed and was about to call the police when her phone suddenly rang.
Glancing at the screen, Lin Qian saw that it was Chu Yelin calling.
She picked up, and Chu Yelin’s gentle voice came through the line, "Qianqian, are you at Gu Group? Is everything settled? I’ll come pick you up there soon."
Hearing his words, Lin Qian took a deep breath, "Chu Yelin, I need a favor..."
Lin Qian succinctly explained the situation.
Chu Yelin listened quietly, and his voice immediately turned serious.
"Qianqian, listen to me—don’t act rashly. I’ll be there right away."
"Got it. I’ll send you my location."
Lin Qian forced herself to stay calm, hung up, and sent her location to Chu Yelin.
Then she paused for a moment and decided to call Su Yu’an.
Gu Yan was his fiancée; the two were about to get married soon. Since Gu Yan mentioned meeting Su Yu’an, it was only fitting to inform him.
Lin Qian dialed Su Yu’an’s phone number and repeated what she had just told Chu Yelin.
On the other end of the line, Su Yu’an sounded shocked. After saying he’d be on his way immediately, he hung up.
As the call ended, Lin Qian was just planning to catch her breath when the car suddenly screeched to a sharp halt.
Lin Qian’s head jerked forward and collided with the seat in front, her phone falling onto the floor.
"Ouch! What’s going on?"
Lin Qian clutched her head and asked. The driver in the front seat was already cursing angrily.
"What’s wrong with that car? Crossing into the road like that, trying to get themselves killed..."
Lin Qian raised her eyes and was about to check the situation but froze when the back door suddenly opened. Lin Yi stood at the entrance with a menacing look on his face.
It really was him!
What was he up to?
Lin Qian opened her mouth, attempting to speak, but before she could say anything, Lin Yi grabbed her hand and quickly pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket, pressing it over her nose and mouth.
"Mmph..."
Lin Qian struggled desperately, but she was too weak to resist.
The sharp scent invaded her senses, and her head spun as she fell into unconsciousness.
The driver stared in shock at the scene, utterly terrified.
He watched as Lin Yi dragged Lin Qian’s unconscious body out of the car. Only then did the driver regain his senses and shout out.
"Hey, you..."
The driver’s voice cut off abruptly. Lin Yi glared at him with a chilling expression, holding a weapon in his hand.
"If you know what’s good for you, get lost fast—unless you want to meet an untimely death!"
Lin Yi spoke in a sinister tone. The terrified driver shivered, quickly started the car, and sped away.
Meanwhile, Chu Yelin was driving, stepping hard on the gas with an intensely grim expression.
He had already reached the road Lin Qian mentioned and was calling her phone over and over, but no one was answering.
No answer?
Could something have happened to her?
No, that wasn’t possible!
She would definitely be okay!
Chu Yelin kept dialing Lin Qian’s number until, finally, he heard the call connect.
"Qianqian, are you alright?!"
The person on the other end hesitated before speaking, "Hello, are you a friend of this phone’s owner? She was just taken by a man halfway through the journey..."
A buzzing sound filled Chu Yelin’s ears, and his heart skipped a beat.
"Taken? Where are you?"
Ten minutes later, Chu Yelin found the taxi driver and took the phone from his hands.
The driver looked pale with fear. "That man was terrifying! He just swerved his car in front of mine and took her away. He even had a weapon—it was horrifying. Anyway, I’m leaving now—please pay her cab fare."
Chu Yelin’s face grew darker than a storm cloud.
He glanced at the driver, pulled out a wad of cash, and handed it over.
"Sir, did you see which direction the man drove off in afterward?"
"Wow, so much money!"
The driver’s eyes lit up as he took the cash.
Noticing Chu Yelin’s imposing demeanor, he thought for a moment and said, "I saw the kidnapper driving northwest. There’s a run-down area with abandoned buildings there. My guess is he might be taking your girlfriend to that place."
Upon hearing this, Chu Yelin nodded firmly, wasting no more words before striding back to his car.
Sitting in the driver’s seat, Lin Qian’s phone began to ring again.
While he adjusted his seatbelt, Chu Yelin glanced at the caller display—Su Yu’an?
Lin Qian’s ex-boyfriend?
Chu Yelin’s long fingers tapped the screen, answering the call.
On the other end, Su Yu’an’s warm yet slightly anxious voice came through.
"Qianqian, where are you? I’ve already reached the location you mentioned."
Chu Yelin paused before replying, his voice cold yet steady, "Mr. Su, this is Chu Yelin. Qianqian is in trouble!"
