Chapter 183: Chapter 183: Quite the Persistent Chase

"The man in the photo is named Lin Yi," she says, "and he was actually a match Mrs. Gu introduced to me for a blind date."

Lin Qian handed the phone back to Su Yu’an and fell silent for a moment before saying, "This man is unprincipled. He was inappropriate with me that day, but luckily, Moran came and took me away."

Thinking about that day’s events, Lin Qian’s fingers curled slightly.

That day, not only did she encounter the unscrupulous Lin Yi, but she also accidentally witnessed Gu Yan and Lu Jun being intimate with each other.

Could it be that Gu Yan and Lu Jun had been at the restaurant much earlier?

Did they have someone secretly take pictures of her entire dinner with Lin Yi, then edit the footage into what they wanted, and wait for an opportunity to embarrass her?

"Why would Mrs. Gu introduce you to a date like that?"

Su Yu’an furrowed his brow slightly, something dawning on him as he said, "Don’t tell me it’s because of me she just randomly picked a man, hoping you would draw a clear line between us as soon as possible?"

It was possible!

Perhaps the Gu family’s mother and daughter thought that he would only give up on her if Lin Qian married someone.

With that thought, Su Yu’an’s frown deepened.

Seeing Lin Qian not denying it, he said with great remorse, "Qianqian, I’m very sorry."

"Sorry for what? What does it have to do with you?"

Lin Qian smiled faintly, remaining silent for a moment as the smile on her face faded slightly.

After hesitating repeatedly, she finally made up her mind.

"Yu’an, I want to tell you something."

Gu Yan was a petty and narrow-minded woman who would definitely not make a virtuous wife and good mother.

She wasn’t worthy of Su Yu’an.

So...

"What is it?"

"It’s about Gu Yan."

Lin Qian took a sip of water and looked at Su Yu’an, saying, "Actually, that day at the restaurant, I saw her with a man. That man’s name is Lu Jun, the sales manager of the Gu Family, and he’s also Gu Yan’s childhood friend. Their relationship seemed... quite deep."

Su Yu’an was a good man, and she hoped he could find his happiness.

At the very least, the woman by his side should have good character.

Not like Gu Yan, who was always sour and jealous, fond of stabbing others in the back.

Su Yu’an understood immediately upon hearing Lin Qian’s words.

He nodded and a sardonic smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

"I get it, Qianqian, thank you for telling me the truth."

He had never liked Gu Yan, and now he felt even less for her, which gave him even more reason to call off the engagement.

"There’s no need to thank me."

Lin Qian looked at Su Yu’an, her eyes brimming with sincerity, "Yu’an, you’re a good man, and I sincerely hope you have a girl who will care for you by your side. And Gu Yan, she’s clearly not up to par."

She hoped someone would take care of him.

But what he hoped for more was that this caring girl by his side could be her!

Su Yu’an’s pupils reflected the pretty face of the woman as he opened his mouth, wanting to say something.

At that moment, Lin Qian’s phone on the table rang.

Su Yu’an glanced at it, and as he saw the caller ID, he swallowed the words that had reached his lips.

It was a call from Yin Moran.

He remembered, she had left him behind, choosing Yin Moran instead.

Lin Qian hooked up the corners of her mouth into a faint smile when she saw that it was Yin Moran calling.

"I’m going to take a call."

After telling Su Yu’an, Lin Qian stood up and walked outside the private room, phone in hand.

Clearing her throat, she answered the call.

"Hello?"

"Where are you?"

"At... dinner."

"Where are you having dinner?"

Lin Qian: "..."

Did he really need to ask till he got to the bottom of it?

He truly was obstinately domineering and overbearing.

Although Lin Qian was complaining internally, she honestly replied, "On the top floor of the shopping mall."

"Top floor of the shopping mall? Alone?"

"No, with Su Yu’an."

Lin Qian had no intention to deceive anyone.

She and Su Yu’an shared a perfectly normal friendship; there was no need to hide or conceal it from others.

Silence filled the current for a moment.

Although Lin Qian’s conscience was clear, the silence from the other party made her feel inexplicably guilty and short of breath.

"Um, have you eaten yet?"

"Which private room are you in?"

"Ah?"

"I’m asking which room number you and Su Yu’an are in."

The male voice coming through the line didn’t vary much in tone, but Lin Qian felt a chill run down her neck.

She obediently reported the private room number, and then the line filled with the sound of a dial tone.

That was it?

Lin Qian blinked and touched her nose.

Could it be that the big green-eyed monster was feeling jealous again?

Forget him!

Lin Qian shrugged her shoulders and turned to enter the private room, not noticing the tall figure rounding the corner without expression, heading straight towards her room number.

Inside the room, Su Yu’an was serving soup to Lin Qian.

Seeing Lin Qian come in, he smiled warmly and pushed the soup towards her. "Have some soup first."

"Thank you."

She really was hungry.

Lin Qian enjoyed the rich aroma of the dishes on the table and happily sipped her soup.

"Is it good?"

"Yeah, it’s delicious."

"Take it slow; be careful, it’s hot."

When Yin Moran entered the room, he saw Su Yu’an tenderly looking at Lin Qian with an undissolvable warmth in his eyes.

His handsome brows furrowed for a brief moment, then returned to calmness.

Su Yu’an, hearing a noise, looked up with a smile that stiffened slightly.

"Cousin?"

So that phone call earlier was him checking in?

Pursuing her... quite closely indeed.

Hearing the noise, Lin Qian quickly turned around and, seeing the man striding in, blinked. "How did you get here so quickly?"

"I just happened to have a meeting with a client. Yu’an, you don’t mind joining us, right?"

Yin Moran politely made the offer but naturally sat down next to Lin Qian.

He casually placed a hand on the back of her chair, leaning back lazily, exuding the air of a protagonist.

"Not at all!"

Would he leave if he said he minded?

Su Yu’an smiled faintly and asked the waiter to bring an extra set of cutlery.

"I didn’t know you were coming; I ordered all of Qianqian’s favorites. Cousin, what would you like? I can ask them to add a few more dishes."

It seemed like an offhand comment, but it revealed a slight cunning.

Was Su Yu’an implying to him how well he knew Lin Qian?

Yin Moran accepted the water poured by the waiter, his dark eyes deepening. "No need to trouble yourself; I don’t eat much."

"Then I won’t stand on ceremony."

Su Yu’an smiled, said no more, and started putting on gloves to peel shrimp, placing the peeled shrimp on Lin Qian’s plate.

"Qianqian, your favorite shrimp."

The gesture was natural and carefree, yet it carried an intimate ease.

Lin Qian only felt the temperature around her plummet, and her neck felt the chill again.

"Thanks. But, Yu’an, you eat; I can peel them myself."

Danger!

The big jar of jealousy beside her was radiating cold air!

Lin Qian sneaked a glance at him, noting the stretched tautness of his facial profile.

"Oh! Sorry, look at me, I’ve gotten used to peeling shrimp for you. Cousin, you don’t mind, do you?"

Su Yu’an allowed himself a moment of inward mischief but stayed outwardly serene, focusing intently on the other’s not-so-pleased handsome face.

Uninvited, he had interrupted their rare moment alone.

He had to give them something to brood over, at the very least.
