Chapter 1513: Tragedy
Chapter 1513: Chapter 1513: Tragedy
However, he overlooked one scenario, which was the sheer enormity of the scale-burst Dragon Beast.
Crushed under the scale-burst Dragon Beast, the Ice Barrier turned into an icebox, covering everything underneath.
Furthermore, the head of the scale-burst Dragon Beast kept lifting and smashing down repeatedly.
With each lift, a large number of scales would fall off, creating a series of explosions each time it smashed down.
The crucial problem was that although the Ice Barrier was not shattered yet, with its cracks multiplying, it was about to dissipate at any second.
The Mage from the Korean team now faced two choices: either cancel the Ice Barrier and Blink away, possibly finding a way to survive,
Or take a gamble, betting that his Ice Barrier could hold up until the scale-burst Dragon Beast ceased its furious assault, and then Blink away.
But for a top-level expert, they naturally wouldn’t rely on luck; they trusted more in their own strength.
So, his choice had no suspense; the moment the Ice Barrier was dismissed, he immediately used Blink.
However, he was trapped under its head; by blinking sideways, he could naturally move out from under its range.
But the wings of the scale-burst Dragon Beast were as huge as its forelegs, and its coverage area was immense.
The instant he Blinked out, he realized this issue, but he chose his timing very well—it was after the scale-burst Dragon Beast’s explosive smash, and therefore, he narrowly escaped disaster.
The game rules prohibited the use of continuous blinking abilities, which meant no consecutive long-distance teleports; sidesteps, rolls, and the like did not count here.
Now, he could only rely on lunging forward, slowly moving towards the outside of the wings.
After the explosion, he stood up and lunged before the wings fell.
He used the brief invincibility during his lunges to resist the damage from explosions and the hammering.
The scene was fraught with danger, thrilling countless spectators. His fangirls especially screamed loudly, though their idol couldn’t hear them, even if they screamed their throats hoarse.
However, the invincibility lasted less than a second, whereas the explosions were relentless,
He could dodge most of the damage, but couldn’t avoid all of it; on the first injury, his ice shield shattered, leaving him with only a sliver of health.
The second injury, a life-saving skill preserved his life.
But on the third, he never stood up again.
The scale-burst Dragon Beast roared, shaking the ground violently, the Mage’s burning corpse was flung into the air, caught in the Dragon Beast’s jaws, and then swallowed whole.
Everyone was shocked; they hadn’t expected the Mage to die in such a suffocating manner.
Just a moment ago, he was suave and battling the monsters with apparent ease, making a fool out of the beast, only to end up dying so miserably—and worse, his body was even devoured.
"Wow, that’s so tragic," Tonton’s exaggerated words shattered the calm here.
The Korean audience glared angrily but were speechless when they saw Tonton; after all, he was just a child. If it weren’t for the live broadcast, they would have cursed without restraint.
But this was a live broadcast; the child could be excused for being naive, but if they were to squabble with a child, it would be in poor taste. It would not only reflect poorly on themselves but also negatively impact the reputation of their guild.
This grievance, they had to endure, whether they liked it or not.
The resurrected Mage looked utterly lost; upon hearing Tonton’s words, his eyes reddened with embarrassment—it was enough to lose face, but to be ridiculed on top of that was too much.
Their team leader quickly held back the Mage and said indifferently, "Starfire, don’t celebrate too soon. It’s your turn to go next."
Li Yao nodded: "During the initial challenge phase, especially against a challenging beast like this, it’s normal for everyone to perish a few times. The first two teams—one tried close combat tactics, the other utilized long-range magics—now it’s our turn for the third round to test the limits of defense and see if it holds."
The African team leader also stepped forward and said, "Originally, we planned for an ultimate defense as well, but since Starfire has taken that role with their renowned Unmovable Bastion, we won’t show our inferior approach. In the fourth round, we’ll attempt a kiting strategy."
Angel heard someone praise his renowned Unmovable Bastion and proudly lifted his chin.
He was then directly teleported to the battleground, where Angel’s fighting method was rather straightforward and stubborn.
He immediately set up the Unmovable Bastion, and when the Dragon Beast charged, he took the hit head-on.
The two forces clashed fiercely, and the Unmovable Bastion was pushed back more than thirty yards before it came to a stop.
This collision also intensified the counterattack’s electric current, and the crackling electricity cracked open the Dragon Beast’s head.
Many spectators gasped, but the discerning ones knew that it was actually the Dragon Beast’s own attack that rebounded and caused the damage to its head.
But one couldn’t help but admire Angel’s defense; the Unmovable Bastion stood unyielding like a mountain.
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom...
The Dragon Beast kept lifting its head to slam down, over and over, but without its exploding scales, it couldn’t breach the defense of the Unmovable Bastion.
Then the Dragon Beast took to the sky, and its scattered scales exploded around Angel; although the Unmovable Bastion shook continuously, it showed no sign of breaking.
After circling in the air twice, the Dragon Beast landed on the Unmovable Bastion, causing it to violently oscillate to the extreme.
This time, it wasn’t just mere collision; scales kept falling around it.
But even these scattered explosions couldn’t shatter the Unmovable Bastion, which held out longer than the Mage’s survival time.
However, a new situation emerged when many parts of the Dragon Beast’s body turned fiery red, especially the scales beneath its head, which were almost entirely red.
Boom...
Each descent was accompanied by the simultaneous explosion of countless scales.
On the third descent, Angel’s Unmovable Bastion finally broke apart, and like the others, his corpse was devoured.
Angel made it known to all that the Dragon Beast had entered its berserk phase.
This phase was too terrifying; even ultimate defenses couldn’t withstand it, clearly indicating that the idea of defeating the Dragon Beast with defense alone was impossible.
Next was the fourth contender, surprisingly a Hunter, employing the Lone Wolf Hunting strategy.
This meant striving for utmost personal strength; he had a pet, not to fight alongside him, but to convert into totemic rune symbols that provided different enhancements based on the pet’s type.
As he entered the arena, the Lone Wolf Hunter summoned a Cheetah, which then transformed into a beam of light and merged into the Hunter’s body.
The Hunter’s feet were enveloped by a whirlwind, greatly increasing his speed and jumping ability.
The larger issue, though, was that the Dragon Beast was simply too big to miss.
As the battle began, the African Team’s Hunter started to move like a whirlwind, the Dragon Beast’s vast size was its biggest flaw...
