Chapter 78: 063. Fire Master Li Aozi_2

Arcane Energy is primarily derived from a mysterious energy supplied by genes and cells, and can basically be considered similar to one’s physical strength; it’s fine for casual use and recovers quickly, but once in combat, with all the running, jumping, and fighting, recovery becomes very difficult.

Martial Artists continually generate new Qi Energy as long as they maintain physical exertion and their cells are stimulated.

A Mage can stand still and burn through their Mana Bar, and still casually pull out an AK to give you a burst of fire.

Those who specialize in Arcane Energy aren’t so lucky, unless it’s a passive type of Arcane Energy; to put it exaggeratedly, if you want to wait for Arcane Energy to recover during battle, by the time your Arcane Energy value is full, you could have written more than twenty pages of your family tree.

The best way to reduce energy consumption is to improve the development level of Arcane Energy. In the later stages, fully developed Arcane Energy can be released almost continuously.

As for Li Aozi, he actually didn’t have this problem. On one hand, with his delicate control of Gravitational Arcane Energy, there was basically no wasted motion consuming extra Arcane Energy.

On the other hand, his "Charm" generated such high returns that outside of combat, he could almost continuously release his gravity powers.

Li Aozi activated his Arcane Energy, and his mastery over gravity allowed him to land noiselessly from a high place, evading Nimotin’s field of view.

Just as Nomi had caused a disturbance, the rapidly blinking tracker, which Li Aozi had tossed into the camp’s ammunition depot.

As expected, Fourth Rule soon showed up.

Nimotin must have been infuriated, firing a rocket in that direction even before she arrived. The result was incredibly precise, causing the detonation of several tons of ammunition and blowing half the camp sky-high.

"Timing was perfect. Nimotin’s so enraged and embarrassed that by her logic, she’s probably thinking of ways to hoist me up and torture me severely — hmm, in some way, that’s a good thing, it means she won’t kill me instantly as soon as we meet."

Li Aozi had a clear understanding of Nimotin’s personality; this woman’s Martial Force was maxxed out, but her problem-solving abilities were as rigid as a cleaning robot’s.

He slipped into the shadows, moved quickly and discreetly, and took the chance to check the system message:

[Sub-Quest: "Distinct Love and Hate" (In Progress)]

[Challenge 5: Use a vehicle to kill 5 members of the White Fang Guild (5/5) — Completed]

[You have completed a challenge, reward issued: Main Attribute +1, plus 600 Experience Points.]

[Based on your Specialty, you receive the following benefits: Charm +2, 600 Experience Points]

"Let’s look at my Basic Attributes now: Strength 6, Dexterity 5, Constitution 7, Charm 23 (equipment +3), Will 8."

The other attributes aren’t anything special, but the "Perpetual Love Hunting" Specialty makes the actual returns from the main attribute "Charm" equivalent to 33.8 points!

"40 points in Attributes is the threshold for reaching Beta Level (β, the second Greek letter), but to advance to Alpha Stage (α, the first Greek letter) one would need at least Level 20."

Li Aozi’s powerful Main Attribute "Charm" gave him the confidence to face Transcendents of the Alpha Stage in battle, but his current Experience Points were insufficient for him to ascend to the Alpha Stage.

"No rush."

Li Aozi calculated that his Level had almost caught up with those White Fang Guild thugs.

At this juncture, with Qiu Ran temporarily leaving the team and only Lv. 17 Nomi and Lv. 10 himself left, the duo’s experience penalty for teaming up meant that the experience gains from hunting these bandits weren’t very high.

He glanced at the Task Progress; already two medical staff had died.

"Sub-Challenge Three, killing members of the White Fang Guild gives an extra 20% reward — feels unnecessary to continue, missing out on 2 points in "Charm" doesn’t matter, maintaining Stealth is key, the main thing is to rescue the six captured medical staff."

Li Aozi’s calculation was meticulous; with Nimotin doing her rounds on the field, his priority was to complete the mission quickly and secure those 5 Free Attribute Points.

With that in mind, Li Aozi moved swiftly through the White Fang Guild’s convoy in search of the hostages. He climbed into each vehicle for a search and, aside from using a chain to strangle a driver who was trying to escape, he didn’t find a single living soul.

"Strange... are they not here? But all these vehicles are carrying supplies for Mingji."

Li Aozi tossed the corpse, which wore an expression as if it had seen a ghost, out into the snow, and sifted through the vehicle, frowning.

Upon opening the trunk of the car, two portable ventilators and dozens of boxes of anti-inflammatory drugs appeared before Li Aozi.

"Oh?"

Li Aozi was slightly surprised:

"Well, this is an unexpected find."

He quickly opened the Scavenger’s backpack, dumped out the assorted trash inside, and hurriedly scooped up most of the precious medications.

Among them was a box of capsules called ’Zunisidine’, which Li Aozi remembered was a potent medicine for a Martial Artist.

"Doctor Anna would certainly not give up on Head Nurse Nodley — this can be used to negotiate for some benefits."

Li Aozi pocketed the item along with other things into his bulging sling bag, continuing his search for the whereabouts of the hostages.

After a while, the gunfire from the White Fang Guild had become even more frequent. It wasn’t because they had received reinforcements, but because they were in a state of desperate struggle.

Many were shooting wildly before tossing aside their weapons and attempting to escape in vehicles, only to be blown sky-high along with their cars by a rocket from Frost Plated’s SWAT team.

Li Aozi sidled along stealthily, squeezing through gaps between rows of containers. He was about to peek out to survey the area when suddenly, a tall figure flashed through the gap.
