Chapter 766: 375. Seeking the Source

[Testing Account ZG-007 "Gio Zieou"—Logging In]

[Notice: Testing accounts do not enjoy the Descender’s benefits, registration is fixed, and cannot attack player groups.]

[Lai Anding Medical Protocol not recorded]

[Wishing you a smooth exploration, Your Excellency Gio Zieou.]

Crack!

Emerald lightning tore through the sky, splitting a giant tree in half in an instant. The lingering heat ignited a small-scale fire around it. The mountain wind fanned the flames, causing them to spread quickly.

Seeing the wildfire about to expand, a pair of large hands covered in porcelain-like skin immediately raised up and gently wiped.

Authority: Destruction of Illusions

The scene of the fire twisted instantly. The charred trees were restored to their lush, green state. The burnt smell in the air was instantly dispelled, and the forest remained as verdant as before.

"Thankfully, at least Mother of Lai Anding didn’t send me here empty-handed."

Gio Zieou knelt on one knee and slowly stood up.

He was significantly shrunken in height compared to his original form, standing only at 2.4 meters. In the Starry Abyssal Spirits’ hierarchy, he was even shorter than the small-statured Leoz by half a body length.

The chilly mountain wind blew through his crystal tendrils that draped over his shoulders like hair, fluttering in the wind and constantly grabbing information to establish a link with the Starry Abyss.

He swayed slightly, his emerald armor largely recreating his original form—the Gladiator’s Heart Protecting Mirror, one large and one small pair of sharp bull horns, and the asymmetrical diagonal pattern design on his chest—all were well restored.

But there were many flaws...

Gio Zieou raised his hand and immediately "tsk"ed.

"Without a data panel, I feel uncomfortable—Did Caramel Snail spoil me? No, rather, it’s that the system Lai Anding developed based on Earthlings’ games indeed has its unique merits."

Testing accounts didn’t even have an Attribute Panel built-in—though it made sense.

After all, these testing accounts were essentially scrap material fished out of the Chaos by the Starry Abyss, recycled for reuse.

Simply put, even the concept of "games" was something Lai Anding developed from one of the thirteen Senators of the Secret Society—the Player, Plyer—through the analysis and deduction of his abilities.

When this account was created, Gio Zieou estimated that Leoz hadn’t even fallen yet.

It was a treasure from the Ancient Era.

After receiving part of Lai Anding’s explanation, Gio Zieou now had a very clear definition of the "Starry Abyss":

The "Starry Abyss" wasn’t a game, but a strategic plan guided by the Will of the Starry Abyss, intentionally created to hide the identities of the Spiritual Warriors, allowing them to enter the shallow layers of the Starry Abyss to combat all intruding enemies.

In other words, it was the immune system clearing out viruses, bacteria, and cancer cells from the body.

Both a war and a revolution.

All players weren’t mortals; everything in reality was a meticulously woven lie using a cognition filter.

Players, or all living beings in reality, were all once Abyssal Deity Samurai who fought for the Starry Abyss.

Five thousand years ago, they responded to the Starry Abyss’s call, risking their lives to fight against the three great Destroyers and powerful enemies like the Society, until they fell and returned to the Starry Abyss.

The Starry Abyss didn’t let these veterans down, resurrecting them and giving them a dream.

So now, thinking about it, some unreasonable bugs in reality were explained.

For instance, no matter where the people were from, none of them had parents. Nominally, they were customized people born from mechanical wombs.

But in fact, they were all resurrected deities, isolated from their memories to peacefully enjoy a new life.

"Unlike modern Ascenders who practice pathways for mortals to ascend, the primordial deities were all born from Chaos, given souls by the Starry Abyss, and lives by the Fairy Spirits. This is also why the Starry Abyss insists on accepting us primordial beings."

Gio Zieou shook his shoulders and stretched his body, turning to look around the vast land while calculating in his mind:

"There are indeed many layers of meaning in this..."

Obviously, even though they were colleagues on the Starry Abyss side, the Will of the Starry Abyss didn’t trust the later generation of deities. It deliberately created the "Starry Abyss" mechanism, mimicking Earthlings’ games to allow Spiritual Warriors to discreetly and silently enter the shallow layers of the Starry Abyss.

What did this imply?

Did the Starry Abyss not only trust the newborn Ascenders but also not trust the Six-Layered Starry Abyss?

Or did it mean that the Six-Layered Starry Abyss had already developed separatist intentions?

If so, wouldn’t it be better to have the Spiritual Warriors suppress and quell the rebellion? After all, it wasn’t their first time doing such things.

"No, I can’t think like this."

Given the rare opportunity to remove the cognition filter, Gio Zieou immediately started thinking more critically:

"If the Starry Abyss merely wanted to strengthen its control over the Six-Layered Starry Abyss, it could do so directly. But with the form of player descending, something seems off."

It’s as if the Starry Abyss was deliberately hiding this from anyone other than the old deities and even its own people, aiming to extend the power of the Spiritual Warriors to other abysses.

This wasn’t just like a military garrison; to put it bluntly, this was infiltration and colonization.

Because players’ actions had an obvious expansionist nature, they also carried an aspect of dumping. The players’ excellent combat abilities made it very easy for local people to develop a dependency on them.

As everyone knows, dumping is a precursor to monopoly. Once dumping occurs, the fall of the market is essentially inevitable.

The question was—whom did the Starry Abyss aim to counter?

The Six-Layered Starry Abyss was currently controlled by a Narrative-Level Civilization, and the Narrative-Level Civilization was in a deadly opposition to the Society.

Gio Zieou tapped his dagger-like fingers. There was no expression on his face armor, but a crimson line constantly flashed and twisted like a heartbeat valley, displaying his complex thoughts.

Lai Anding was an absolute supporter of the Starry Abyss, with his position undoubtedly beneficial to the Starry Abyss. He indeed took good care of these fallen deities.

Even so, Lai Anding’s suffering demeanor and the desolate Star Plain made Gio Zieou feel uneasy.

Moreover, their attitude toward Leoz was very strange.

Logically, given Leoz’s literary and martial prowess, even if he wasn’t the Chief God, as an Executer, despite his dubious ascension, his merits outweighed his faults, making him an outstanding talent.

But the Starry Abyss and Lai Anding seemed very surprised upon learning of Leoz’s existence.

No, not just surprised, it seemed they were quite...afraid of Leoz.

"This is really peculiar. Leoz and I get along quite well. I never felt that Leoz had any potential to threaten the Starry Abyss—if anything, Leoz’s loyalty to the Starry Abyss made me feel that if I gave him coordinates, he would dare to attack Earth!"

Gio Zieou couldn’t help but mutter.

But thinking more wouldn’t help; he was just another busy worker now.

He was tasked to find the "seeds" deployed by Lai Anding, which might provide some valuable information.

"First, let me see what functions are actually useful in this account given to me by Mother of Lai Anding."

The testing account had very few functions, but the Tasks, Official Website, and Starmap System were available.

Gio Zieou casually opened the forum, intending to post something for fun. However, as soon as he clicked "post," a line of text immediately popped up:

[Error! Your account has been permanently banned.]

"Huh? Does the "Starry Abyss" treat non-descenders’ accounts like this? Banning official website accounts directly, what a brute-force secrecy measure."

Gio Zieou checked the other system functions:

"The Mall has been updated to version 14.0, but I have no Point Tickets, and there’s no reset channel. It’s utterly useless."

"The Mailbox still considers me a player. Ridiculous! The Qiqiao Network’s technicians suggest sending me to fill in at Eye of the Galaxy."

"There’s no account-switching function available either—but it does show my main account as Caramel Snail. Tsk, I was hoping to get some good stuff for my main account. Do they have to be so strict?"

After a series of operations, Gio Zieou discovered that the only functions not gutted and still usable were his Tasks and Map systems.

He knew his task by heart and didn’t bother looking at the content, opening the map directly.

[Your current planet: Dragon Satellite (task area, unable to leave above the upper atmosphere)]

"Dragon Satellite, huh..."

Gio Zieou stroked his porcelain chin:

"This is the planet where Li Aozi disappeared, isn’t it?"

He chuckled, a series of wave lines immediately forming on his face:

"We really are fated, old buddy."

"Looks like I should find you first, Lord Leoz."
