Meteor Fall Master in the 'Starry Abyss'
Chapter 718 - 329. Hunter

Chapter 718: 329. Hunter

The trip had been quite fruitful, and it was Nephis who killed Nariya, saving him a lot of trouble, but many issues still surfaced.

For instance, the most crucial one—the reason the company targeted him.

Using the Divinity from the Prison of Death, Li Aozi converted Nariya into a corpse. After interrogating her, it dawned on him:

"So, Andrew Velazquez prayed to Redd Gold for Divine Favour."

No wonder, no wonder.

"Being someone who benefits from both Society and Narrative, realizing my unusual existence is not surprising at all."

As for whether Redd Gold realized he was Leoz... Li Aozi couldn’t say for sure yet.

"What you fear always comes true. Leoz suggested I should approach Redd Gold to convince him to side with me—now, Redd Gold got to me first!"

Although Li Aozi knew that these two events might not necessarily be for the same reason, regardless, he would never trust the advice of that ancient relic Leoz again.

After handling his current affairs, Li Aozi wasted no time. He immediately boarded a new flight to the Hunters’ convention site.

Twelve hours later, the Masir Star ship docked at the second port of Kailan Star.

Upon arrival, Li Aozi realized a problem: Kailan Star was a twin-star system, divided into planets A and B.

His destination was Planet B, but his visa was only valid for Planet A. The shipping company had just sent him here.

"Never mind, I’ll just fly over myself."

Li Aozi looked out the window, unwilling to waste time changing visas, and directly activated a space rift to jump to the nearby Starfield, engaging the Pegasus Wings.

However, despite his low-key and cautious actions, his presence in the Starfield still caught some attention.

The lens focused, capturing the moment Li Aozi tore open the space rift, with the aurora wings of Pegasus unfolding magnificently. The photographer couldn’t help but whistle:

"Whoa—how novel. It’s my first time seeing an Ascender with such a pathway. Is his ability related to space? Looks so beautiful, must be a Sovereign type. Interesting..."

The photographer was a young boy with short blue hair and blue-golden eyes. Transparent strands fell like jellyfish tentacles by his ears. Enthusiastically, he held the camera, admiring his shot.

"Xue Yi, what are you doing? We’re going to be late!"

A restless young woman shouted:

"Mr. Disweil, as a veteran Hunter, has a significant reputation. Our private visit is entirely thanks to Mother’s influence. If we’re late, he won’t let us join the convention..."

Xue Yi put away the camera, smiled unhurriedly:

"Here I come, here I come—don’t rush, Xue Ling, I was just taking a photo for memories."

Xue Ling glared at her brother, annoyed:

"Beautiful sceneries are everywhere in the cosmos, but Hunters who can fight the Society are less than a hundred thousand in the Layer Abyss, let alone a Silver Hunter like Disweil, who’s among the top fighters in the Layer Abyss! No Narrative-level civilization knows the Society’s classifications and habits better than he does."

"Is it that exaggerated? Hunters don’t even have an organization, let alone a Kappa (10) to oversee them."

Xue Yi shrugged.

"That’s unrelated to their power. Hunters are admirable people,"

Xue Ling shook her head:

"Most of them are victims whose homelands were devoured by the Society. They often rely on themselves, accumulating power and fighting the Society long-term to protect more Citizens of the Starry Abyss from its corruption. You should respect them."

Xue Yi smacked his lips, indifferent:

"Alright, even if they’re formidable, with our Narrative Civilization, we don’t need their protection—are they wealthy?"

"You cheeky boy—they’re indeed wealthy because they lack the motivation to spend. All their savings go towards self-improvement or hunting down Society Citizens. Thus, they possess many social institutions, which is our goal."

As Xue Ling spoke, she glanced at a newly docked ship in the distance, from which a group of scarred, oddly looking people suspiciously eyed everyone.

They emitted Zeta Rank (6) auras, but unlike regular soldiers, they lacked the heroic and dashing presence, showing instead a fierce and ruthless gaze.

"Those are the Hunters."

Xue Ling nodded and whispered:

"See the man at the front wearing the Copper Ram Demon badge?"

Xue Yi looked at the group leader: The man wore a skull mask and stood nearly two and a half meters tall with shoulder-length black hair. He carried a gigantic Magic Guidebook bound to him with chains. His eyes were cold, ears pointed backward like bird wings.

Compared to others, he exuded an indescribable creepy aura. Although he seemed to be a Spellcaster, he didn’t wear Crystal Armor. Instead, he was covered in mechanical parts like a Mechanic, with his left hand replaced by a prosthetic limb.

Just looking at him, Xue Yi felt a deep darkness, as if his sight was being sucked in.

"He’s Azdakel Gondle, nicknamed Iron Angel. A Copper Hunter—he has at least three Councilor’s lives from the Society in his hands."

Xue Ling introduced:

"You felt something off, right?"

"When I looked at him, I felt distorted. Very uncomfortable." Xue Yi tugged his collar, awkwardly said, "I felt like my eyes were being twisted out of their sockets."

"Precisely—he’s from the Underwater Abyss."

Xue Ling nodded:

"His nation was consumed by the Mechanical World Society. After decades of exile, he earned a spot in the Underwater Abyss Team and only returned with the last batch a month ago. Though not at the Kappa Rank, he won the chance to submerge with those Seed members on his own merit—Xue Yi, you must learn from him. Meeting Mr. Disweil also builds your future pathway."

"Hmpf, returning from the Submergence Starry Abyss isn’t such a big deal."

Xue Yi nonchalantly said, lifting his innocent face:

"Didn’t our father submerge with the Underwater Abyss Team as well? Once Dad returns as a Kappa Rank in a few years, our Snow World Civilization will immediately enter the second-tier interstellar civilizations! We won’t even have to acknowledge these stateless freemen!"

"Xue Yi! You can’t think that way. Every Hunter is a respected warrior. Despite losing their homeland and suffering great Pain, they stand up for countless homes! You shouldn’t speak of them like that!"

Xue Ling scolded, but she didn’t entirely disagree with Xue Yi’s words, even smiling:

"But once Father returns, our civilization will have a Kappa (10). We’ll no longer be a weak nation relying on tourism and low-end product manufacturing in the universe."

She felt deeply emotional and teary-eyed at this thought:

"We won’t need to trade forty trillion Snow Beads for a single large spaceship, nor sell our labor cheaply, nor will our people work themselves to death in sweatshops—having a Kappa (10), we’ll make powerful friends and business partners. Indeed, good days are coming."
