Chapter 698: 309. Nightclub Ecstasy_3
Alia said:
"So don’t take it too lightly, I intentionally chose this place because I don’t trust the security forces that girl hired—if that guy resurrects and suddenly starts killing, seventy percent of the patrons in this nightclub are at Zeta Rank, and even without following the Pathway, their strength is evident. They wouldn’t give him a chance."
"You truly are cunning, letting others around you share the firepower."
Dugen teased:
"But no matter what, he’s just at Zeta Rank. With me here, at Quasi Iota Rank, along with the people in this club, even if a true Iota Rank came, we’d overturn him."
"Exactly."
Alia nodded:
"That girl named Nariya is pretty smart about making money, but she has never been at a disadvantage and doesn’t realize what being able to kill Canyue signifies."
"Canyue’s abilities involve spacetime dimensions, the only ones who can traverse spacetime are those with ’Gravity’."
Dugen squinted:
"Only Sequential Arcane Energy can combat Sequential Arcane Energy, not to mention he killed Canyue, which means his development level of Arcane Energy won’t be low."
"Honestly, we’re all old hands, the job does have its risks, but we’re fighting on our home turf, and however you look at it, that’s to our advantage."
Alia, with a cigarette in her mouth:
"That rich young lady Nariya, when I talked to her, I heard from her tone that she’ll likely bring two at Zeta Rank, maybe even one of them is Gabros."
"Are you worried they can’t handle the guy who killed Canyue?"
"No, I’m just worried they’ll renege on the deal."
Alia had barely finished speaking, when the nightclub’s main door suddenly opened. A group of mixed-breed half-orcs surged in, and behind them, a young lady, graceful and fitting poorly with the grimy, sinful environment of the Grave Star Cluster, walked naturally into the venue.
"Ah, speak of the devil."
Alia stubbed out her cigarette and waved to the girl on the other side:
"Nariya, over here."
Nariya glanced over, immediately spotted Alia’s position, and tilted her head to give her subordinates a cue. They understood and quickly dragged a cryogenic pod, squeezing through the dance floor crowd to the booths.
The cocktail table was pushed aside, and a black cryogenic pod took the place of the table, arranged right in front of Priestess Alia. She lit up a cigarette, her eyes brightening:
"Whoa—CVF-109, the most advanced biochemical cryogenic pod, commonly used by high-level Biochemists to transport materials for Biochemical War Beasts. You really did spend a fortune."
"This is the least costly prop in this operation,"
Nariya said flatly; she then turned to the ’Ice Demon’ Dugen Gorath next to her, extending her hand courteously: "Nice to meet you, Mr. Gorath, the legendary mercenary."
"Nice to meet you, daughter of the company—but I’ve been out of Valkyrie Fortress for 43 years. Haven’t been a mercenary for a long time."
As Dugen shook her hand, Nariya’s entire arm was immediately frozen. She didn’t seem to mind, as a mere negative seventy degrees posed no harm to her.
"Thank you for your help this time."
Nariya said.
"No need, just tip us a bit more afterward."
Alia smirked, looking toward the data panel of the cryogenic pod:
"Storage time 4 hours 22 minutes—pretty timely, the corpse must be very well preserved."
"It’s the best option."
Nariya glanced around the noisy environment, music blasting loudly, people dancing passionately without a care, oblivious to them bringing in a corpse:
"Will this affect the resurrection ceremony?"
"As long as it’s not an outdoor environment, it’s fine. Get your people in position quickly, the moment this guy resurrects—who knows how fierce someone capable of killing Canyue might be."
Alia murmured as she walked up to the cryogenic pod, pressed the startup panel with the password given by Nariya to unlock it, then grabbed the edges and lifted up:
"Little ghost, don’t be dead, time to get up and dance—"
Shh—
As the hatch opened, the cold air escaped, and seconds later, revealed the interior.
"...I tell you, daughter of the company."
Alia picked up her discarded cigarette butt, clenched it between her lips, and cocked her head toward a shocked Nariya:
"You rushed here in 4 hours 22 minutes, just to deliver a bunch of air?"
The cryogenic pod was empty, though Leoz’s corpse had been confirmed to be put inside, now not a single hair could be found.
"This can’t be, can’t be..."
Nariya muttered:
"We escorted him all the way here, I saw his head being chopped off, how could it just disappear—"
She hadn’t finished speaking when suddenly she felt a tap on her shoulder.
"Are you looking for this?"
She turned around, and Leoz’s skull was immediately smashed into her face, shattering her skull!
