Chapter 696: 309. Nightclub Ecstasy

The kaleidoscopic lights flickered in a hypnotic rhythm, casting an ever-changing dance of colors over the crowd in the dance floor, where a mix of people swayed and bobbed to the pulse of the pounding music.

"Forget that damned life! Out here in space, there’s no day or night, work is eternal, but joy is yours!"

The DJ on the stage cranked up the volume and shouted into the microphone,

"Shake it the hell up!"

Boom boom boom—bam bam bam—

Purple lights cascaded down, and various criminals moved erratically, scribbling gibberish in the air with their heads, while those in the private booths unabashedly snorted indiscernible powders, their eyes closed as spasms wracked their bodies followed by bouts of insane giggles and laughter.

A sexy six-armed serpentine maid deftly weaved through the crowd, her hips swaying so fluidly they seemed to leak juice. She gracefully fended off the lecherous hands that reached for her, entering a private booth with a tray of drinks and fruit platters. As she was about to leave, a small, alabaster hand pulled her into a tight embrace.

"Oh, you’re so annoying." The serpentine maid pouted at the woman who had harassed her, speaking coquettishly, "Priestess Alia~ why do you always cling to me? I’m not offering new services, you know."

"Heh heh~ Look who’s talking, Cherry, I haven’t been stingy with tips, have I?"

"That’s not what I meant—you always play too rough."

The priestess, known as Alia, sported a head of blood-red short hair, her face marred with scars but her features still bearing traces of her former elegance. One hand teasingly pinched the maid’s cheek and ear, while the other hand raised a glass of whiskey and poured it over the maid’s chest. The serpentine maid responded with a display of faux resistance, arching her back and shaking her chest, scales glistening in the light.

"Oh, so pretty! I love you snake people more than any other species; no one else knows how to get wild like you do!"

"You’re being so vulgar. This isn’t just some tawdry display; it’s called exotic charm."

"Hahaha—fine, fine, exotic charm."

Priestess Alia crossed her legs, one hand holding a beauty and the other a drink. The evil, hateful, cursed runes embroidered all over her black and white robe cemented her identity.

[Fallen Priestess]

The [Redemption] path aimed to save lives, but differences in worldview, technology, magic, and theories led to different paths. Most chose to become [Doctors] devoted to life-saving, but many also delved into manipulating life and desecrating corpses.

For example, the advanced branches of [Doctors] included [Healers] who advocated for aiding others while controlling the battlefield, transferring life force through nano-threads and causing damage. There were also the cold and ruthless [Corpse Stitchers], specializing in surgical techniques, stitching together corpses, fighting fire with fire, with powerful bloodsucking recovery and combat abilities.

Due to the different focuses, the [Redemption] path was usually divided into ’Surface’ and ’Deep’ schools.

The ’Surface’ school for [Priests] naturally revered light and nature, using life force and faith to save lives as [Blessing Masters]. However, the ’Deep’ school, like Alia’s, used sinister techniques, worshipped evil gods, and achieved healing by stripping away and harming others’ lives, thus becoming [Fallen Priests].

Stepping into the ’Deep’ school, [Fallen Priests] didn’t need to follow strict moral codes but instead embraced corruption, debauchery, and all the grime and darkness of the secular world, reconstructing their worldview from the heart to progress further.

"You play so hard, don’t you have work later? Won’t it affect you?"

Opposite Alia sat a blue-eyed, mixed-blood demon descendant with a pair of white eyes on each side of their cheekbones. They leisurely sipped their drink, emitting a cold aura from their deathly pale skin, causing the male attendants nearby to shiver continuously while maintaining a gentle business smile.

If any Valkyrie Fortress mercenaries had been present, they would have exclaimed in shock: was this not the legendary mercenary who had been missing for 43 years, ’Ice Demon’ Dugen Gorath?

To Starry Abyss mercenaries, Zeta Rank was the pinnacle, earning the title of legendary mercenaries.

Dugen Gorath was a legend among legends—he possessed Quasi Iota Rank (7) abilities.

"Don’t worry, resurrecting a Zeta Rank is a piece of cake; I can do it while clapping for love—the client won’t mind the details."

Alia chuckled, pinching the face of the girl in her arms, eliciting a sweet, playful punch.

"But you, Dugen Gorath, still take money from Narrative-Level Civilizations?" she asked incredulously.

"Why wouldn’t I?" he replied.

"Of course it’s strange," Alia said, propping her chin on her hand. "Zeta Rank (6) is a very special rank. Epsilon Stage (5) helps people define their divinity and future direction, but Zeta Rank serves as the dividing line between Ascenders and Transcendents."

"Recognized as Earthbound Deities and the main force in the cosmic war, they can boil the oceans, destroy mountains, and wipe out surface cities given time. Such immense power is the limit of what mortals can witness."

"Thus, they’re no longer called ’Transcendents’ but are respectfully referred to as ’Ascenders.’" Dudgen sipped his molten lava drink nonchalantly.

"What’s with the sudden talk about this?" he asked.

"Just reflecting on the situation in Starry Abyss," Alia chuckled as she continued.
