Chapter 643: 257. Who turned you into this, ’Starry Abyss’?_2
Was this the "Union Group"?
Perhaps sensing her gaze, Nariya gently raised her head and glanced at her.
Those green-golden vertical pupils showcased her proud Dragonborn lineage, but her eyes were very tranquil.
Wendy greeted her amicably, "Hey, Miss Nariya..."
Then, Wendy saw the young Dragonborn girl open her mouth and produce a melodious, sweet voice:
"653, 231.66, 565..."
Her gaze fell on Wendy, scanning from her eyes to her fingernails, and from her limbs to her skin, even piercing through her flesh, scrutinizing her organs and soul.
Legend had it that the God of Destiny manipulated the strings of fate with his hands, but Wendy felt that Nariya had already mapped her out with just her eyes.
"You will be worth a good price."
She did not say it aloud, but her eyes and expression seemed to reveal her true thoughts.
Nariya’s eyes were so clear and pure, paired with her slightly chubby baby face, making her extremely cute.
So cute that Wendy even felt a bit scared.
"Hehe, Nariya, after all, is from a Narrative-Level Civilization. She’s different from us third-rate civilizations. They disdain hiding their opinions and will bluntly say what they think."
Andifa laughed heartily, giving Wendy no face.
"Yes, yes...people from Narrative-Level Civilizations truly are extraordinary. They never conceal their feelings and speak very frankly, unlike the little pink crystals of the Crystal Tower, who always believe they’ll win, only to end up losing everything."
Wendy grinned widely, immediately reciprocating with a smile.
"Actually, Narrative-Level Civilizations are just like that. When you see them, you’ll understand."
Andifa also smiled, but they were smiling about entirely different things.
Of course, he knew Nariya was calculating the value of strangers’ bodies. When he first met her, he was also startled; her pure, flawless gaze was like that of a deity, impartially pricing everything, just waiting to be sold.
But once you got used to it, you realized this logic conformed well to human nature. The more Andifa listened to Nariya describe their Grand Narrative, the more he became obsessed with this mindset of pricing everything.
If humans were the measure of all things, then the meaning of human existence was to assign everything a good price, to evaluate and price all existence with fair and impartial money.
There was no doubt this was fair. Nothing could more accurately measure the value of a person, a world, or an ideology than money.
Only money achieved absolute fairness. Anyone attempting to tarnish the concept of monetary equality was an enemy of humanity, a demon destroying fairness and freedom.
But then again, the "Empire of Heralds" Wendy interacted with did not seem to have such progressive understanding.
The Empire was lax and free, imposing no restraints on its citizens and lacking unified beliefs. This made Andifa very disdainful, but he dared not voice it.
At this moment, meeting again, the once arrogant senior at school now had to offer him a respectful toast and make overtures, a complete reversal of positions that made Andifa feel satisfaction from head to toe.
This was a complete victory.
Not only had his life, status, and power far surpassed that of his senior, but the path he followed, the ideals he pursued, the values, and the Grand Narrative he embraced, had completely overshadowed the other party.
This feeling made him very comfortable. He quickly began to mentor the other party, mixing in various senses of superiority, and started to judge his senior’s various behaviors.
Nariya did not look at them. She jumped off her seat and, without bothering to say goodbye, casually walked out. She took a few steps down the starry sky corridor, confirmed the surroundings were good, and then opened a special communicator.
The projection unfolded an independent space, enveloping her, and soon materialized into a warm, cozy castle interior. A fire blazed in the fireplace, snow flew outside the rain-spattered window, illuminated by the aurora, creating a highly luxurious ambiance.
Nariya quietly sat down on a seat, waiting.
After a short while, the castle’s door was pushed open, and a dashing young Dragonborn with dark green skin strode in and sat in the master’s seat.
"Long time no see, sister Nariya."
He said calmly.
"Greetings, Brother."
With him was a bodyguard, a woman with silver hair, purple eyes adorned with peacock green eyeshadow, possessing a finely sculpted, cold and elegant face. Her body was almost perfectly proportioned, with slender black snakes entwined around her intricate armor.
Splat.
The bodyguard stood behind him, her gaze cruel and cold like a crocodile’s, attracting Nariya’s attention.
"Don’t mind her, Nephis is trustworthy. Raised by Gabros, and just finished her full training in the ’Purgatory Camp.’
"I trust you, Brother."
Nariya nodded and said:
"It was not my intention to disturb you, Brother, but I have important information to report."
"Speak."
Andrew Velazquez showed no hesitation or courtesy. There was no small talk between the siblings, only pure interest exchange.
They did not meet as siblings, but as inheritors of the company, bound by shared interests.
"I am currently participating in a planetary auction organized by the Crystal Tower Civilization. Coincidentally, my betrothed obtained client information."
Nariya straightforwardly said:
"Leoz, whom you have been searching for these past five years, is participating in this auction, and it shows he possesses 1.2 billion in Ammonium Gold cash."
"Good news. Very important, continue to monitor for me."
Andrew’s eyes lit up, though he maintained a calm exterior.
As the Crown Prince of the Group, naturally, he kept his emotions in check, focusing on wealth above all else.
Their unspoken understanding did not touch upon the damage and economic loss Leoz had previously caused to the Valenkov Autonomy, not for fear of harming their relationship—but because they both calculated that recruiting Leoz would bring substantial benefits.
"I will find time for Nephis to visit."
Andrew immediately decided:
"Keep a close watch on Leoz, monitor what he intends to buy. If possible, assist him, and afterward, make your intentions known."
"Leoz may not adhere to our Grand Narrative. I plan to request a few Light Gold Priests from you to assist me in completing the task. They excel at indoctrination and taming. If Leoz does not comply, have Nephis beat him up, capture him, and preach to him—but no brainwashing. We need a self-aware Leoz loyal to money and capital."
Nariya thought clearly, immediately filling in some gaps for her brother.
"If necessary, I will attend personally," Andrew pondered for a moment, "No, I can’t, I am currently too tied up with tasks. I must heed the teachings of His Excellency Redd Gold—Alright then, I entrust you with full responsibility for this matter. Do not disappoint me."
"I will, Brother," Nariya responded coolly, "Capital above all."
Andrew reverently said:
"Capital above all, money triumphs, may material and consumption always guide the people."
