Meteor Fall Master in the 'Starry Abyss' -
Chapter 615 - 230. Brave Shine (Part 1)
Chapter 615: 230. Brave Shine (Part 1)
The torrent of magic, faster than light, streaked across the sky like an endless meteor shower. Nastisha lifted her head, feeling the intense distortion of the will within it, and her gaze immediately turned worried,
"That’s the Minister’s power... the spacetime itself is distorted. These attacks were supposed to be seen by us three years from now."
"Don’t worry about Minister Balkmon," Ye Wangnan reassured, "Among the same group of strong ones returning from the Lower Starry Abyss, there were no lack of Narrative-Level civilizations. Even they praised his strength. The likes of the Night Butterfly Man are surely no match."
"I hope so." Nastisha nodded, suddenly noticing something. She looked up at the sky, "That disturbing sound has calmed..."
"Have the people of the Mechanical World been stopped?"
——————————
The enormous steel hand continued approaching the Circle Gate in the sky. The form of Li Deweidens had long disappeared, perhaps completely enveloped by the Fiery Demon Iron King, or maybe never observable from the moment the hidden power was released.
On the ground, Li Aozi stood quietly as per the task’s requirements, lifting his head to witness this moment.
The remaining players gathered around him, the camera in the live broadcast room also pointed skyward to watch this ’cutscene.’
By this moment, the live stream had already surpassed 60,000 viewers. Quite a few accompanied them to witness this scene.
The Fiery Demon Iron King Kalachia opened his hand, gradually reaching the edge of the ring. The gears on the circular gate suddenly came alive, scattering and shattering, transforming from their original relief machinery into ferocious mech soldiers, launching themselves at Kalachia.
"Metal creations, you dare defy the will of the true master?!"
Kalachia grinned malevolently, unleashing an evil power. People faintly noticed that in front of his forehead, Li Deweidens stood with a blade, like a helmsman steering a ship, driving Kalachia forward.
A large number of mech soldiers under the onslaught of the scarlet magic power gradually ceased their attacks. They swayed unnaturally like patients in a fit, their bodies shattering segment by segment, masses of metal ions fled from them, converging onto Kalachia.
"That is the master of metal and the source of the Blacksmith, known as the Fiery Demon Iron King Kalachia. It took considerable effort from Lichi Peak to persuade Kalachia to forge this weapon—before dying, Li Deweidens was granted the qualification by Lichi Peak to advance together with him."
As the mech soldiers lacking metal parts fell like rain, Sofia Malin explained calmly:
"These mech soldiers can’t stop him. Just watch quietly. This is Li Deweidens’s last stop."
Li Deweidens continuously drove Kalachia forward; their hand was only a few hundred meters from the ring—when the Gate of the Mechanical World suddenly emitted a strong wave. Following that, a soul-shaking voice echoed in everyone’s mind:
"No! You shall not advance! No one can stop the people of the Mechanical World from devouring civilizations. You tainted carbon scum shall not take another step forward."
Marshigon’s shout caused dozens of will checks to float up before the players’ eyes at once, almost crashing the system. Even Li Aozi had to raise his hand to close the system interface. As a Magician, Li Aozi’s worldview was always materialistic, and no matter how many mental checks, they were futile against him.
Li Deweidens’s figure shook significantly, seemingly receiving a great impact. He didn’t appear purely materialistic, as electroplated and coil marks briefly emerged on his body.
"Advance!"
Zaniya’s hand rested on Li Deweidens’s shoulder. The brilliance of the Divine Sword erupted, purifying and driving away the mechanical traces from Li Deweidens’s body.
He turned his head to look at Zaniya. She stared firmly ahead.
Li Deweidens opened his mouth and said:
"Sorry to keep you waiting..."
"Nonsense!"
Zaniya didn’t look at or dare not to look at Li Deweidens again. She lowered her head and said deeply:
"If you feel sorry for me, just advance."
Zaniya’s shoulder trembled, but as a sword, she showed no hesitation.
"From now on, don’t look back, don’t be distracted. Believe in me—believe in me unreservedly, Li Deweidens."
Zaniya paused, mimicking humans, took a deep breath, her eyes brightened, and she shouted loudly:
"Advance! Advance! Advance!"
Li Deweidens gripped the sword hilt tightly and pushed forward.
Kalachia’s demonic claw gained tremendous assistance, advancing unwaveringly toward the Circle Gate despite Marshigon’s will.
Bang!
His palm slapped onto the ring instantly. The Sword of Destiny Awakening vibrated violently, emitting silver radiance massively, an eerie, mysterious energy spread across the sky.
The Circle Gate, infected by this energy, raised red bumps like scalded skin, intricately beautiful mechanical reliefs rusted and disintegrated, eventually falling off in a frenzy.
Li Aozi was all too familiar with that energy... it was present on both the White Knight and Tailor.
Zaniya’s form gradually weakened; she turned to look at the silver-shrouded Li Deweidens, her mouth agape but speechless.
Li Deweidens pushed the sword blade upward.
Kalachia’s giant hand likewise pushed upward, forcing the enormous Circular Gate inch by inch back into the void. The sky it covered gradually revealed, the perpetually dark world welcomed a touch of newfound dawn.
Sunlight bathed Li Deweidens’s shoulder. His body turned translucent, allowing light to pass through, parting ways with the world gradually.
As the secret power released, he would be forever forgotten by this world.
Yet, for this outcome, Li Deweidens wasn’t as tranquil as before.
He lowered his head, looking at the suspended Zaniya, and smiled bitterly:
"I seem to not want to disappear anymore."
"...Idiot." Zaniya cursed. "Weren’t you acting all nonchalant just now? Besides, you’ve been dead for over a millennium! I, too, have been trapped in isolation all along. Now it’s your turn to feel my pain."
"Yeah, Zaniya, now it’s just self-inflicted."
Li Deweidens raised his hand, gently blocking the dawn breaking through heavy clouds, and said with deep feelings:
"No man is an island, entirely of itself. Each is a piece of the continent, a part of the main... Solitude, it turns out, is harder to bear than death."
"Yes, now you understand! I’ve been alone for a thousand years, waiting for you, driven mad by isolation, talking to myself, until Li Aozi freed me. Hahaha, now, no one can save you."
"Zaniya, I somewhat regret it now."
Li Deweidens’s tone was filled with regret, but his face radiated happiness. The golden sunlight made his decayed face look divine.
When the first ray of dawn illuminated the earth, snow mountains melted, and last night’s woes and pains subsided, a new day started, everything turned beautiful.
Li Deweidens suddenly felt grateful, a strong emotion surged within, driving him to shout, but after pondering, he still didn’t utter a sound.
Facing the golden skyline, he sincerely said:
"Reality, too, has a beautiful side."
