Chapter 613: 228. FATE/Awakening Sword (Part 2)

"—Zaniya?" Li Aozi was astonished. "Hey, are you okay?"

"That scarlet impact... was too strong. The sword’s strength... couldn’t keep up with you."

Zaniya’s words carried a hint of regret:

"Li Aozi, you’re growing too fast. At this rate, who can keep up with you?"

"Don’t worry, I won’t give up on anyone."

Li Aozi nodded and immediately rejoined the battle, generating new terrain with the elemental structure.

"Ambra’s revival time is at most four hours; I have to clear the field quickly and weaken Mashigang’s influence on Baizhu Star from the Mechanical World Society."

Li Aozi swiped his hand and whispered:

"World, rise and fight for me!"

Rock giants emerged from the peaks, charging and roaring. Frost and snow scattered, freezing everything around as the atmospheric elements brought thunder and hurricanes. Pale blue corrosive raindrops continuously fell, delivering endless punishment upon the machines. Flaming giants were born from cannon barrels and the igniter of propellant, wreaking havoc in the midst of the mechanical army upon their arrival.

In the shadowy corners, the dark elements silently arrived, cursing every mech soldier hiding behind cover, dragging them into the endless abyss of darkness...

Li Aozi wasn’t a true Architect, but based on years of experience and the trust that Baizhu Star placed in him, at this moment, he truly commanded the ecosystem’s architecture system.

Where his fingers pointed, humidity and oxygen levels instantly changed. Where his gaze landed, flames surged or earthquakes erupted. On the high plateau of 8,000 meters, he could cause floods at will, turning the crimson-tinted snowfields to prostrate at his feet.

Swords, guns, and halberds clashed. Caramel Snail sliced open the monitor of a high-ranking mech soldier and stomped it to pieces before dashing into a factory with his comrades.

Looking at the facility producing citizens of the Mechanical World, the players exchanged glances and simultaneously made the same decision.

[Self-destruct program has been set. Dimensional explosion countdown: 59, 58...]

They detached from their Growth-armored Vanguards, reverting to their normal sizes, making it easier to escape the factory. Cumin Powder waved his hand behind him and shouted loudly:

"Goodbye!"

[...3, 2, 1!]

Thud—

The entire factory was instantly compressed and unfolded calmly on the ground.

[Task completed]

"Is it over..." Caramel Snail panted, looking forward blankly.

The last factory had shut down. It was only a matter of time before the Heroic Spirit Legion and Li Aozi’s elemental giants annihilated the Mechanical World Society.

Logically, with the councilor defeated, the civilization should have been saved.

But, that didn’t seem to be the case now.

Boom!

Li Aozi casually squeezed, and gravity compression pressed down, flattening the blood-red battlefield into a smooth mirror. His strength compressed the solid rock layers beneath by more than ten meters.

The magnetic fluid’s black curtain shattered instantly, restoring space and communication. Li Aozi quickly received gravitational wave signals from various locations, and his voice successfully spread out at that moment.

The Heroic Spirit Legion stood in formation nearby as Sofia Malin, the Fairy of the Lake, approached slowly.

By this point, the last citizen of the Mechanical World was eliminated.

"...It’s not over yet."

Sofia Malin pointed above.

Li Aozi looked up, seeing the 20-kilometer-diameter Circle Gate in the sky, its gears interlocking in precise combinations, perpetually operating. Its rhythm was exquisitely beautiful, deserving the title of a mechanical industrial masterpiece.

The Gate of the Mechanical World still existed.

"What is going on..." Li Aozi frowned in confusion. "The citizens of the Mechanical World have been cleared; logically, the societal ritual should have vanished completely."

"’Institution.’"

Sofia Malin explained:

"They used the ’social institution’ to infect and erode the entire planet, much like... a viral epidemic, forcibly corrupting everyone on this planet inclined toward idealism."

"How unfair," Li Aozi clicked his tongue.

He glanced at the time: only 19 minutes left until Ambra’s revival.

This was tricky. If things dragged on, the Mechanical World Councilor would revive and grow stronger. A few more power-ups and no one on this planet could stop it.

"How can I purge the entire planet of corrupted proto-citizens of the Mechanical World in such little time?"

Li Aozi muttered, thinking quickly.

"Drive Mashigang out."

Sofia Malin’s gaze met Li Aozi’s as she said:

"You... must face Mashigang personally."

"Face it personally?" Li Aozi was puzzled, looking towards her, only to find her gaze wasn’t on him.

He turned his head, following her line of sight to the lone, standing wolf-helmeted knight nearby.

—Soul General Li Deweidens.

"Your duty, your destiny... This is something only you can accomplish. You’ve held onto this, never giving up, even if your body decayed, soul withered, and consciousness faded, you still adhered to this creed: launch a counterattack at the end."

Sofia Malin spoke to Li Aozi:

"Give him the sword."

She didn’t need to say more; a task panel had already popped up before Li Aozi:

[You have triggered the event: "Witness: Fate Awakening"]

[Cutscene]:

......

’Fairy of the Lake’ Sofia Malin, guardian of Falysia’s heroic spirits, had learned many secrets and histories over the past five millennia.

"In the past, the deity Lichi Peak perished along with the Secret Councilor known as the Blacksmith and infused his power into this sword. He knew the gap between him and the Secret Society was too vast. He chose to conserve strength, passing the weapon to General Li Deweidens, his successor, before falling peacefully on the battlefield."

Sofia Malin relayed this story to you:

"However, what Li Deweidens received wasn’t just a weapon; he also received his mentor’s teachings:"

"Little Li Wei, the fate of our civilization is over. With Leoz’s defeat, Haines’ annihilation, and Falysia’s glory gone, realistically, we beyond the abyss are at the end of our rope. Our history will no longer be written."

Li Deweidens stood quietly nearby, a faint breath of life emerging from his broken body.

"But Falysia’s most important legacy isn’t its weapons, cultural works, or lineage."

The fairy continued to relay Lichi Peak’s words:

"It’s our spirit: Courage, equality, brotherly love, and enthusiasm."

"I want you to protect not our race and lineage, but this spirit. Treat every civilization that inherits our spirit as if it were Falysia."

"Don’t clash with other successors. The Starry Abyss is vast; it can accommodate every race and civilization. Only society is our enemy; aside from that, we are all brothers and sisters."
