Chapter 610: 226. Aozi I recommend
"(Falysian) Begone, you filth-ridden scrap iron!"
Li Deweidens swung his blade, and the red sword immediately filled with light, tossing thousands of Mech Soldiers to the ground. Their mechanical bodies instantly rusted, crawling with plump, squirming maggots like decaying flesh.
Once a powerful figure of Omega, a Demigod Knight, the successor of Lichi Peak, despite a millennium of time erasing his status and decaying his body, his skills had not declined in the slightest.
He coldly swung his blade, the pure exertion of force dominated the air, making it his obedient servant, like a hound lunging at the enemy. The scorching air slashing against the friction created a blinding red flame.
[Meteor Slash]
A High-Rank [Destroyer] Pathway technique that every swordsman had to master.
As long as they fought in the atmosphere, [Meteor Slash] was the simplest, most brutal, and least laborious mode of attack. It could repulse and suppress enemies up close, and harass and kite them from afar.
The key aspect was that it consumed no Supernatural Energy but demanded extremely high skill with the sword.
Li Deweidens unemotionally swung his cursed blade. His left foot stepped on ice and his right foot on mechanical carcasses. Fire and ice intertwined, playing an ode fittingly dubbed the ’Song of Ice and Fire.’
Destroyer’s rhythm actively fluctuated, while the assaults from the Citizens of the Mechanical World grew more frenzied.
Li Deweidens remained serene.
His soul and body had died twelve hundred years ago. Now, only his desiccated spirit remained alive.
There was nothing to complain about. Expelling these Citizens was merely another task, just like scratching an itch, sneezing, or spitting away a bothersome entity on the body.
That was it.
His heart had died; it would never stir again. He neither understood hatred nor excitement.
Simply swinging a weapon, repeating meaningless slaughter, as a Spiritual Body, he held no emotional fluctuations.
"Mechanical World: Transformation, Heavy-armored Dragon Zeibert!"
Sofia Malin was suddenly thrown against the mountainside, as three combat mechas reassembled into a heavily armed red-and-white mechanical dragon. It lashed out with sharp claws, repeatedly striking and tearing at the Fairy of the Lake. Its tail whipped against the ground, lifting its heavy body, allowing the mech dragon to stomp its sturdy steel foot fiercely on Sofia Malin.
Boom!
Smoke and dust roared up.
Li Deweidens looked on coldly, with no intention of expressing support or lending aid.
The Fairy of the Lake and he shared only a collaborative relationship. Her self-imposed mission to protect Falysia’s Heroes’ Cemetery was her own decision. Li Deweidens never sought her help; they merely had a common goal.
With a glance, he resumed his slaughter.
Repetitive, monotonous, crushing slaughter.
His mind was exhausted, emotions thin, neither grateful nor adaptable in thought.
He killed any enemy he saw, spared any ally, and indifferently regarded everyone equally.
Perhaps his status had been eroded for so long that even the curse of Starry Abyss no longer clung to him.
If not for the current massacre evoking Fear in the Mech Soldiers, perhaps Li Deweidens would have been discarded by the world long ago.
He raised his sword, just about to clear out the Mech Soldiers on the next hill when suddenly, a nimble figure dashed past him.
"Heya!"
Caramel Snail leaped into the air, using his Growth-armored Vanguard to jump and change directions midair, while simultaneously firing his Blood Pressure Cannon, decimating several Mech Soldiers on the spot with compressed blood.
"Nice one, bullseye every time!"
Garidon leaped to his side, launching a plasma grenade and giving a compliment.
"You’re too kind, it’s all thanks to this Growth-armored Vanguard." Caramel Snail sheepishly scratched his head.
Garidon rolled his eyes at him, "I meant the auxiliary aiming of the Gear."
"... (Civilization of Fiery Summer)"
Caramel Snail mumbled, suddenly feeling something off behind him. He turned around and locked eyes with Li Deweidens.
The pressure of Epsilon Stage overwhelmed them, pinning the two Little Alphas in their Delta Rank Gears to the ground.
"Holy crap—" Garidon’s body froze, feeling as if he had plunged into an ice cave, "We’re doomed. Is he going to hold us accountable for the fire?"
As their eyes met, Caramel Snail, unlike the terrified Garidon, felt no fear and instead seemed somewhat familiar with the image: the White Wolf Helmet, the brass chains around his neck, the faded armor, and the crimson cursed longsword.
This... looked so familiar.
Caramel Snail was a bit dazed; his eyes lit up green.
"Yes, it is you, Knight Li Deweidens..."
"(Falysian)... [God of Vanquishing Delusion] Gio Zieou."
Li Deweidens uttered a soul’s whisper, communicating directly with him:
"(Falysian) You’ve continued in different forms, though it took a full five thousand years... Your enmity with the [Tailor] should be settled."
"In any case, I am back."
Caramel Snail smiled, lips pressed tight, as he faced Li Deweidens:
"And, it’s not just me who is back."
As he spoke, Caramel Snail deliberately glanced at Garidon beside him.
"(Falysian)... Is this one as well?"
"Indeed."
Caramel Snail nodded, confirming this statement.
