Meteor Fall Master in the 'Starry Abyss'
Chapter 601 - 219. Until the Abyss (Part 1)

Chapter 601: 219. Until the Abyss (Part 1)

Green plasma filled the field of vision, bodies rendered cold by the snowy peaks were instantly disintegrated. A player, in a reverse throw, sent out a dimensionality reduction ring. Before they could see the explosion, the growth-armored vanguard was torn to pieces by the incoming mechanical soldier.

"Retreat, retreat! They’ve found us!"

"Damn it! These society citizens just won’t quit!"

"If you’ve died twice, log off to save your character—How much longer until Li Aozi wakes up!?"

Players controlled the growth-armored vanguard, retreating while engaging in guerrilla tactics, escorting Li Aozi’s body away from the attack point. Blinding artillery fire and patrolling aerial bombs bombarded indiscriminately, and cloaked quadruple-legged mechanical spiders roamed in the visual blind spots, while swarms of nano-mechanical insects poured in from all directions, forming a white tide that completely cut off their escape route.

The initial high spirits of mowing down foes began to cool off with the repeated high-intensity combat. Gradually, players around them dwindled as the endless new weaponry neutralized their growth-armored vanguard advantage.

[Board Game Society] guild leader and current team commander Longdicheng glanced at the team list.

Remaining players: 9.

At this moment, there were still 2 hours and 18 minutes until the {Mechanical World Society} Mashigang entity would descend.

The nine remaining players hid in a tunnel in Waveform Mountain, using arcane energy to dig a cave. The intense artillery could not breach the sturdy Ostro Mountain Range at this time.

This wasn’t their idea.

Longdicheng glanced at the livestream interface, sincerely thanking the suggestions rolling through the comments:

"Thanks for the advice, guys. Digging tunnels really works! Family, it seems this is where we make our last stand, but everyone has witnessed the attack patterns and combat effectiveness of the [Mechanical World Society]. We’re running out of ammo and nearly done for, but the experience is worth it. I’ll download the livestream recording, have some boys edit it, and analyze it to help you all avoid this mess."

Comments scrolled through the chat.

Some were sarcastic about "Professional gamers? I’d have reversed-pushed this already."

Others encouraged "Don’t give up! As long as Li Aozi launches the offensive, everything will turn around!"

Fans sponsored them silently, thanking them for sharing their experiences and hoping to help them mitigate losses with financial support.

Since "Starry Abyss" went into public beta, there were too many players. The Luminous Summer Zone alone had over six hundred million users. With such a massive player base, despite it being early in the morning, their livestream garnered over fifteen thousand viewers actively chatting and giving various suggestions.

For some reason, in this moment, Longdicheng felt an inexplicable emotion.

They had initially intended to fight with the determination of a do-or-die battle, as their characters were likely to be deleted; they might as well give it their all.

But now, more and more people joined their cause, supporting them in various ways, even if not physically present, encouraging them with words if not material support.

This felt... just like when disaster strikes, people unite with one heart and one mind, overcoming all odds together.

"Xilfa N4: Ah, you’ve already done well, don’t forget you’re only at Alpha Stage."

"Fragment of a Broken Edge: Right, it’s obviously a scripted event. The devs know our Fiery Summer District players are too powerful, so they’re stepping in to balance things out."

"Submerged Gold: No matter how they punish us, we were the first to leave the mother star! We conquered gravity with our strength; you can’t kill our spirit."

"Truth Seeker: Many years later, facing the "Starry Abyss" pro league judges, Fiery Summer District players will recall that distant afternoon at the end of [Contempt Maxim] 1.0. The first batch of Alpha Stage warriors set foot on Baizhu Star, from an uncivilized world, sacrificing their lives for peace in a foreign land..."

"Crazy Thursday VIVO50: You, finish "Lone Starry Abyss" first."

"Ingenious Potato: What is Li Aozi doing? Query Li Aozi’s status? [Society] captured Li Aozi, come out!"

......

Despite the viewers’ off-topic comments, seeing them provided considerable comfort to the players present.

"In the beta, twenty-five players from our Fiery Summer District went to space, while Ajincour players were farming and Hastings’ players were fighting fluffy sheep."

A player with the ID ’Magdeburg Basketball’ suddenly spoke:

"In the public test, while players were still immersed in Alpha Stage ground operations, we were piloting Delta Stage growth-armored vanguards, traversing dimensions, using gravity to suppress evil mech soldiers, and fighting steel with our bloodline’s strength."

"Maybe we’re destined to fail, maybe we’ve indeed moved ahead of our time, maybe the devs can’t tolerate our actions, but everything we’ve done so far is worth remembering."

"It’s just an account, if it gets deleted, we’ll remake one. It’s not like a real person died. What’s important is that we’ve used our skills to root and grow here, to establish our own foundation, risking it all against [Society]’s invasion..."

"Yes, this event is a near-devastating blow to our Fiery Summer District pro league players, and recovery will take a long time, but I still want to say this:

"Come what may, this won’t defeat us. From the moment we stepped into space, we were ahead of those stuck on the ground."

"No matter what challenges we face, we keep moving forward."

’Good!’, ’Awesome!’, ’Well said!’, ’Manly!’ ...

Magdeburg Basketball took a puff of an electronic cigarette brought from Azure Star, facing the barrage of comments, trying to say something more.

Boom!

A ground-penetrating bomb suddenly broke through the overhead rock layer, scattering bits of the drill, and the warhead unleashed fierce blazing lasers, incinerating Magdeburg Basketball and the implant gear on him into ash, leaving a silhouette on the ground.

"Retreat! Mashigang has resumed the attack! Damn, these lasers are insane!"

"Old Ma! Hey, Old Ma!"

"Forget about Old Ma, if you don’t run, you’ll join him soon!"

"Damn it all, it’s just the character that died, not like I’m really gone."

—Baizhu Star remaining players: 8.

The emotional atmosphere in the livestream was instantly shattered by curses from all corners, each person clearly feeling [Mechanical World Society]’s firepower intensifying.

Longdicheng glanced at the bomb’s fragmentation radius and scorched marks, surprised:

"The explosion fragments have burn effects, and the filling medicine releases gas... can these society citizens evolve?"

"Their weapons are getting more precise; we, being tech-focused, can’t beat them."

"Keep digging! If all else fails, we’ll collapse the entire mountain, so none of us get out!"

At this point, the players had no other options. They picked up their tools and continued to dig, the solid granite crumbling before their Delta Stage implants, their digging depth increasing, but the explosions behind them showed no signs of stopping.

The bombardment was louder, the smoke closer.

Crack!

A player swung a shovel into the rock, the enormous force breaking the structure on the spot. He tossed aside a large chunk of rock and turned around to keep digging, but an energy blade pierced his chest instantly!

"It’s over for you weak carbon lumps."

Kul Torque’s body fully materialized from the quantum domain. With a casual flick, the remaining force erased the player’s health points completely. Before entering a near-death state, it raised its palm, firing and annihilating its target.

—Baizhu Star remaining players: 7.

"Phew... it wasn’t easy finding you little rats."

Its neck wobbled, cooling fins slightly opening, emitting a Zeta Rank aura that immediately pressed everyone to the ground. Even through the bio-enhanced eyes of their implants, staring at it was like looking directly at the blinding sun, causing intense eye pain.

"And you."

Kul Torque waved, retrieving two cards from Li Aozi’s body. Glancing at the cards showing Watt Rivet Steel and Turing Radix, it sneered:

"How pathetic, you two senators."

With that, it tore the cards sealing its companions.

In the next moment, two senators resurrected instantly. Watt Rivet Steel’s massive form emerged, its mechanical skeleton ruptured the mountain, cylinders roared spewing waste heat, instantly incinerating a nearby player into char.

"Whoa!"

Watt Rivet Steel’s metallic armor radiated an arcane glow. Longdicheng and the others didn’t have time to retreat as its enormous twin eyes emitted scorching magic rays, flooding the underground passage with intense light.

"Just some Delta Rank ants, I wondered what they were..."

Watt Rivet Steel spread its arms, infused with Mashigang’s power, its body absorbing nearby mechanical units, fusing and combining like an organic entity, eventually expanding into a terrifying giant monster the size of a mountain.

"With Mashigang, we are immortal."

Kul Torque stepped out of the quantum corridor, followed closely by Turing Radix. It continuously operated nearby projection panels, pondering:

"I see, this is how the attackers got here."

"You cracked Baizhu Star’s planetary consciousness already?" Kul Torque asked casually.

"Almost, a bit more and I’d fully control it once I evolve to about Zeta Rank."

Turing Radix nodded:

"This planet is different, [Secret Society] Gaia’s subordinates seem to have attacked several times, and there are quite a few Luca Type Alien remnants here."

"Oh? Could they be Haines’ survivors?" Kul Torque showed slight surprise: "No wonder Mashigang took interest here. We were about to submerge Starry Abyss, and Mashigang suddenly decided to turn back and head straight for Baizhu Star."
