Meteor Fall Master in the 'Starry Abyss'
Chapter 538: Dance with the Dragon (Part 2)

Chapter 538: Dance with the Dragon (Part 2)

"People call you a princess, but in my eyes, you fight well. Both your strategies and techniques are superior. Every attack is executed with all your might, and you adapt to the situation as it changes."

Li Aozi half-crouched, adjusting his center of gravity. Today had been a satisfying fight for him; even looking at Dialan felt pleasing. He casually said:

"Compared to being a golden princess, you’re more like a Valkyrie."

Time remaining: 29 seconds.

"Valkyrie..." Dialan mumbled as she gathered her final spell, "What’s that?"

"I heard it from a Silicon Descendants bar owner. They say it’s a term from Beyond the Abyss, Valkyrie, a Valkyrie. They are said to be messengers of the Hall of Valor, who pick up the fallen heroes from the battlefield and guide them to a temple where they can fight forever."

Li Aozi clenched his fists, choosing his words carefully, and said:

"In our Layer Abyss terms, it’s probably a female executer of a certain Chief God."

Executer.

............

"I thought this would be a great victory, but the situation doesn’t look optimistic. A large number of experimental subjects turned transparent and completely disappeared shortly after losing their Ether Blood."

At night, the doctor furiously wrote, pouring his regrets onto the manuscript:

"It was then that I realized, once you step into society, everything belonging to an individual ceases to exist. Yet, I still want to believe in Dialan. After all, she is only 14 years old."

As he wrote to this point, the pen tip paused. He turned his head and looked at himself on the operating table not far away. The two stared at each other for a long time.

"Doctor?" She softly asked, "Do we need to continue the surgery? I can still hold on."

The doctor turned his head, not daring to meet her eyes. He began to write a somber declaration on paper while softly praying to nonexistent deities:

"Given time, she will surely become the savior of Starry Abyss, becoming an existence like Leoz, Dialan (in Falysia, an executer)."

............

"Hmph."

Dialan’s mouth curved slightly.

"Hmm?" Li Aozi was surprised, "Did you just smile?"

"Time until the end of the match: Ten seconds remaining!"

"Countdown: Ten!"

Dialan raised her head, not answering. Her gaze became crystal-clear, staring straight at Li Aozi, and she said:

"The score is 524:524; we are tied."

—— Nine!

Li Aozi nodded without much thought:

"Then let’s have one last move to decide the winner."

—— Eight!

"(Dragon Language) With pleasure." Dialan raised her hand, piercing her forehead’s skin, allowing a pair of sharp, petite dragon horns to grow. She opened her mouth, chanting the final spell.

"(Dragon Language) Earth Dragon People, stand for me!"

—— Seven!

Li Aozi frantically drew from the element pool, gathering all the energy. His mana burnt rapidly, reducing to the bottom. The form of the Lava Guardian expanded to its maximum in an instant.

—— Six!

Rumble!

The earth cracked open, and a massive rock-layered Dragonite as enormous as a mountain slowly climbed out. Its eyes, like magma balls, reflected an even more violent figure—the Lava Guardian, whose sulphuric heat radiated as it topped the arena’s dome shield.

—— Five!

The mountainous Dragonite and the Lava Guardian instantly occupied the entire arena space, their foreheads touching, scales clashing with obsidian, and the arena’s protective shield began to crack under the intense heat.

"Crap, scatter! Are these two crazy?"

"Over here, use the safety passage, do not crowd, evacuate in order!"

"That’s the shield prepared for Zeta Rank graduates’ exams!"

—— Four!

Li Aozi and Dialan’s forms had already vanished in the heat of the battle. The Dragonite and the Lava Guardian’s struggle erupted into intense clashes.

—— Three!

Mountains trembled, flames erupted in all directions.

The Lava Guardian’s elbows slammed down, cracking the Earth Dragonite’s horns. It staggered and fell, then performed a true Earth Dragon’s Turnover, delivering a punch on the Lava Guardian’s helmet, causing a volcanic eruption and spraying magma.

—— Two!

Perhaps influenced by their masters, the two colossal creatures exchanged a glance.

Golden dragon eyes met searing red and black eyes.

The next moment, both stepped back simultaneously, rupturing the earth, and swung their heavy punches together!

"One!"

BOOM!!!!!!

The blazing explosion engulfed the heavens and earth. The dome protection shattered, the explosive force swallowed the entire arena, triggering an energy surge.

In an instant, all nearby facilities’ lights went out, the magic network was disrupted, and a strong arcane energy pulse swept across the campus. Even from the lofty heights thirty thousand meters above, one could see a red light illuminating this place.

It took several minutes for the energy supply to be restored.

"sjdia*&% time... Over——"

The Mana Brain referee was affected, emitting a piercing electrical noise:

"The score is announced as follows:"

The mushroom cloud of the explosion dissipated, revealing two solidified giant creatures at the center.

Both of their fists were buried straight into each other’s faces, dragon brains and flesh flying, with the Lava Guardian’s head entwined with rock layers.

The creatures, summoned through spells, remained frozen, then gradually dimmed. The Dragonite’s corpse lost its light, collapsing, while the Lava Guardian’s body disintegrated, forming a heap of ashes.

The dust cleared, revealing the score panel hanging high:

Dialan: 529 points

Li Aozi: 529 points

Plop.

Li Aozi fell from high altitude, the Passive Effect of Arcane Energy’s Gravity allowing him to land steadily.

Favored by the whole planet, even the dust obediently moved aside, reluctant to stain him.

Li Aozi walked up to the pile of ashes, surveying it. He saw a hand sticking out at his feet and immediately grabbed the wrist, effortlessly pulling the opponent out of the ashes.

Plop.

A slender, delicate body fell into Li Aozi’s arms. Li Aozi frowned slightly, seeing the opponent covered in ashes. Dialan’s head rested lightly against his chest, benefiting from his aura; the ashes gradually drifted away, revealing her clean, beautiful figure as dragonscales peeled off and crimson blood flowed freely.

"Hey, wake up, wake up, don’t die here. I don’t want to go to jail."

Li Aozi shook the girl gently.

He had the Bloodline and Baizhu Star’s favor, so he was fine, but Dialan didn’t have such advantages.

Her clothes had burned away in the fight. Though she was pretty, she wasn’t as stunning as the people Li Aozi saw in the mirror every day. And considering she was younger than Nomi, Li Aozi had no improper thoughts.

He patted her cheek, and seeing she didn’t wake, he took off his coat to wrap around her body.

"Thank goodness the fashion won’t break or get dirty. I’ll have to ask Yawen for a few more pieces. It can save a lot of point tickets..."

Li Aozi picked up Dialan. Everyone around had scattered, leaving the arena’s ruins with just him holding Dialan, unable to get help.

Troublesome.

Li Aozi wanted to scratch his head, but the princess carry position was inconvenient. He prepared to adjust, to drape her over his shoulder like a dead fox when a sound came from a distance:

"Li Aozi...sir?"

Li Aozi froze, turning to see a woman in a beautiful dress carrying a meal slowly walking through the burning ruins of the gate. Their eyes met, and her web-like eyes showed emotions from ’shock’ to ’astonishment,’ finally turning ’empty’ and expressionless.

"Oh, Yawen—"

"Li Aozi." Yawen’s tone suddenly became cold, "Who is that girl in your arms?"
