Meteor Fall Master in the 'Starry Abyss' -
Chapter 482: Flexible Bottom Line
Chapter 482: Flexible Bottom Line
Li Aozi truly had not expected the Inspectorate to show up with a whopping 40 people. It wasn’t just the number of people, as Li Aozi was still quite confident in his movement skills.
The key was that each of the students who came had a pet and a Magic Coffin with them, effectively sealing off the area.
Even with his wide-reaching influence, he couldn’t fend off dog noses sniffing and magic machinery scanning!
In that case, Li Aozi thought it over for a moment. Instead of clashing with them and forcing his way out, he decided it might be better to simply cooperate with the inspection and see if he could slip through.
If push came to shove, he would just reveal that he had a Divine Sword and pin everything on Zaniya.
As for where Zaniya got it from? Li Aozi had already concocted a story.
This sword had been passed down for eight generations, and in his impoverished desperation, he decided to sell it. Accidentally cutting his finger and bonding with it through blood, he awakened a mysterious Sword Spirit sister and was guided onto the pathway of magic...
Before Li Aozi could decide whether his story would later include ’calling off an engagement’ or a ’plum dropping from the heavens’ romantic twist, someone from the Inspection Department approached him, instructed him to place his belongings on the ground, hug his head, squat down, and then started to check and confirm his identity.
"Confirmed—there’s no mistake, he’s indeed a freshman, and chat records testify that he’s here to look for Melo Alleman, a third-year student."
The Inspectorate picked up Li Aozi and collected his biometric information, but they did not find any of his fingerprints or biological fragments that had fallen on the scene.
After their cautious judgment, they confirmed Li Aozi’s alibi. He was just an unlucky guy who had come over to find someone.
However, one of the students recognized him and came over to interrogate:
"Are you called Leoz? Are you the freshman who, within a week of entering the school, learned nothing and lost more than a hundred points?"
"Yes," Li Aozi said confidently.
Usually, losing so many points would be a laughingstock, but at this moment it had surprisingly become a strong piece of evidence to dismiss his suspicion.
"Then it’s fine; you can go," said the student, waving his hand.
Li Aozi nodded, ready to leave, when a female voice immediately rang out:
"Wait! Isn’t the inspection over yet?"
Li Aozi turned his head, looking innocently at the newcomer—a typical Tower Tribe woman with milky skin, a short jawbone, and not a bad-looking face, the kind that evoked pity, even in an armored suit with her annoyed-looking, cute face visible beneath a transparent face shield.
However, ever since seeing Glina Swirl and other beauties of that caliber, beauty had ceased to impress him.
Especially after his morning routine of facing the mirror, Li Aozi had grown completely immune to appearances.
Now, everyone he looked at seemed just the same as Lucite.
"This guy was at the crime scene, he’s a person of interest!"
Sylia ran over, fueled with zeal, and challenged:
"He could be the mastermind behind the Element chaos; why aren’t you continuing with the inspection?"
"Body search, identity confirmation, and checking for an alibi—haven’t all these been confirmed?"
"What else? His biological frequency band, you haven’t checked that!"
A nearby upperclassman shrugged and explained to her:
"He’s Leoz, you know? In his first week of school, he lost a hundred points with virtually no progress on his pathway, still completely a Gamma Rank mortal."
"Lost a hundred points?!" Sylia was stunned.
"121 points," Li Aozi interjected.
"—And you seem proud of that? Even if you randomly filled in ’C’ for all the answers, it shouldn’t result in a loss of 121 points!"
Sylia hesitated, shaking her head, shaken by the news. But she was still not reassured and said to the upperclassman:
"Even if he isn’t the cause, he might be in possession of some highly dangerous item..."
"He doesn’t have the money for that, don’t worry. This guy is from Blue Chrysanthemum Village, a place so poor that even watching the news counts as entertainment," the upperclassman said, waving his hand.
"Anyone could be the instigator of this Element chaos, but it’s definitely not him."
"To be honest, that’s true."
"You say the ’Golden Princess’ Dialan did it, I believe that. But Leoz, come on."
"Hey, newbie, have you attended your Magic Practice class yet? (Li Aozi shows his own schedule)— Look, he doesn’t know a single practical class."
Almost everyone who knew Li Aozi stood up and testified for him. They all used various examples and messages to corroborate that Leoz couldn’t possibly be the true culprit behind the scenes.
With his evidence complete, a few minutes later, the body of senior sister Melo they had been searching for was also found, and the Information Rune on her confirmed Li Aozi’s claims.
"Look at this— ’Senior sister Melo, I heard you are quite knowledgeable about memory-type Magic Potions. Could you help me make a potion for digging into deep memories? I need such a thing to help me improve my learning.’"
A senior student picked up the battered Information Rune and scrolled through the projection screen:
"’I know you, Leoz. Don’t worry, come over this afternoon, and we can have a good talk about this matter.’
He spread his hands:
"I told you, Sylia, you’re fine in every other way; it’s just that you’re too suspicious. But I guess it’s normal for a newbie."
Li Aozi had been quietly staying to one side, playing the part of a quiet beauty.
Indeed, his judgment was right; this 146.88 in [Intelligence] truly hadn’t been added for nothing!
Together with his 204.1 points in [Charm], [Aura of Goodwill], holding concrete physical and testimonial evidence, being amiable in his daily conduct, having a good reputation, and cooperating with the investigation, he was indeed in the clear.
"I am not; I didn’t—"
Sylia was momentarily at a loss for words when suddenly, she had a eureka moment and pointed at Li Aozi, saying:
"No, that’s not right! There’s one thing you haven’t checked!"
"What?" Several members of the Inspectorate became puzzled.
Sylia said excitedly:
"The Implant Gear! You haven’t checked if his body is—"
"Enough!"
Sylia’s delicate body trembled, and then, a tall and burly figure clad in a full protective Armored Suit stepped forward, glaring at Sylia through the visor before turning apologetically to Li Aozi, saying:
"I apologize. Student Sylia is just a newbie, sorry for the trouble, she’s a freshman."
Li Aozi looked calm. Hearing this, he shook his head:
"It’s nothing, having suspicions is normal— see, there are so many seniors who believe in me."
"Right, Leoz, I’ve heard of your name too. Don’t worry, I’m aware of your situation. You won’t have any problems, go on back."
This senior was quite righteous, casually handing Li Aozi a protective mask:
"The elemental radiation is severe around here, be careful."
Li Aozi was momentarily touched, this big guy looked simple, but had a high EQ and was thoughtful enough to care for new students.
Actually, this was also mending a bug for himself—disasters caused by elemental chaos were everywhere, and third-year seniors were all dressed head to toe; his light clothing seemed a bit out of place.
Though as one with elemental affinity, he didn’t need protection, he still put it on and acted as if he had ’breathed a sigh of relief,’ further alleviating any suspicions about himself.
At this point, Li Aozi decided to carry the act through to the end:
"Um, if possible, I would like to ask the seniors to search senior sister Melo’s room for the agreed-upon Magic Potion. It’s truly important to me..."
"Don’t worry about it, that place is too dangerous, and it’s mostly been blown to bits." The big-headed senior shook his head: "But I can introduce you to someone; she might be able to help."
He grabbed his Information Rune and forwarded Li Aozi a contact card for someone named ’Wendy Destis.’
"She’s over at the College of Diplomatic Relations, you discuss and contact her—just say I referred you."
Li Aozi was surprised, not expecting to encounter such a genuinely good Samaritan these days:
"Uh, thank you, but I don’t even know your name?"
"Me? Oh, silly me—just call me Modote."
The big guy said nonchalantly:
"The full name is: Mordoctor Husserl."
