Chapter 469: 107. Li Aozi, refund the money!
Just as Xia Yubing was brooding, her jealousy burning intensely, another friend icon lit up in her list.
The Dragon in the Text: Yubing, the sponsorship funds from Party A have arrived. You can now switch to a main profession like the [Martial Artist] in the [Destroyer] series.——Read, just now
It was Wen Long, an old member of the club. He had also chosen to start in Frost Plated, but he was randomly assigned to the army. He happened to catch the reform of David Lyn’s army and had smoothly reached lv.9 [Martial Artist].
As a seasoned online game player, Wen Long was very familiar with the game mechanics and was about to have the opportunity to equip military prosthetics.
Thinking of this, Xia Yubing had a sudden insight and quickly typed back.

Reply: Hmm. I understand... Right, Brother Long, do you know Cumin Powder?——Read
The Dragon in the Text: [XXG·Cumin Powder]? I often watch e-sports competitions; she was the runner-up in the individual category of the Fiery Summer FPS Comprehensive Championship. To reach such heights as a female is really impressive. Oh, right, Ah Niu also said she was his teammate; I’m really envious.——Read
Reply: Participated in competitions? Are there real-life photos of her?——Read
The Dragon in the Text: That competition was an offline event. She uses a virtual avatar for her live streams, so you can’t find her real photos.——Read
Reply: Hmph, it must be because she’s not confident in her looks, so she debuted in disguise.——Read
The Dragon in the Text: That’s a bit harsh. Remember Li Zi? That guy was quite handsome, but he also used a virtual avatar while chatting with us online. Unfortunately, Li Zi committed suicide; no one plays swords with me now.——Read
Reply: You all act like you understand nothing... Anyway, I’ll catch up in level soon. When the time comes, I’ll learn from Li Aozi and blast myself to another planet with a nuke to meet Kiddo.——Read
The Dragon in the Text: Speaking of Li Aozi, you don’t know yet, do you?——Read
Reply: Know what?——Read
The Dragon in the Text: I’ll send you a link; check it out yourself. Li Aozi’s reputation seems to have taken a hit recently.——Read

Li Aozi clicked on the link and found the culprit behind the sudden drop in his reputation.
"Scammer Li Aozi! The Darkest Day in Gaming History!"

"Starry Abyss" has officially launched after two rounds of testing. I’m sure many people are already immersed in their adventurous encounters. This game is genuinely fun; the controls feel excellent, the feedback is perfect, and the realism is top-notch. After optimizing the respawn mechanism, the difficulty has also decreased significantly. It’s arguably the best game on the market, truly dominant.
However, let me just say, I’m just a low-skilled player with poor reflexes. Initially, I was drawn in by the internal test promotional animation of "Starry Abyss" and Li Aozi’s passionate speech; I chose the Frost Plated Republic to stir things up.
Many others must have also been lured in by the flashy, cool images of the [Sovereign] series! Looking back at the promo video: gravity hundredfold, immortals kneeling, sword dances, Buddha weeping. It wasn’t just cool; it was insanely cool!
But what was the result?
No powerful Arcane Energy, Main Attribute [Charm] is practically useless, can’t wear heavy armor, early-stage damage output is worse than a 9mm handgun, and it consumes a lot of mana.
Even the highly-touted [Gravity] Arcane Energy—you think you can create black holes with your bare hands? Distort spacetime? Earth Burst Star?
Wrong! Normal players can’t handle [Gravity] Arcane Energy well. You need at least 200 hours of practice to achieve the same effect as others using [Gravity].
I’ve personally tested this; it takes 30 hours of practice to throw a rock accurately at a 30-meter target with [Gravity], and to use [Gravity] to force someone to kneel—such a simple action—takes at least 5 hours.
In that time, you could level up your main profession twice.
The most practical is actually the [Eye of Truth], which comes with a built-in perspective cheat, but if I use this Arcane Energy as an assault soldier, wouldn’t it be better to specialize as a [Mutant]?
Arcane Energy isn’t nearly as powerful as people think.
Don’t rush to argue with me; let me clarify, I’ve been following the development of "Starry Abyss" since last year and have communicated with Qiqiao Network’s internal staff. The [Sovereign] series was never really considered a ’promising’ direction initially. The design blueprint clearly stated:
"The [Sovereign] series is an entertainment-oriented branch aimed at increasing company revenue. We hope to provide players with a rich and varied gaming experience but don’t intend for the random, highly variable [Sovereign] series to become mainstream."
Did you catch that? This was the internal consensus. But by the internal test stage, the entertainment-driven [Sovereign] series suddenly turned into the official favorite? Doesn’t that seem strange to you?
In a game like "Starry Abyss," which focuses on growth and development, the most promoted series turns out to be the [Sovereign] series. In the promo video, Li Aozi’s character alone took up three-quarters of the Frost Plated segment!
This was completely leveraging Li Aozi’s looks to deceive players, enticing them to invest heavily in the [Sovereign] series to get an excellent Arcane Energy and buy various accessories to boost their main attributes.
This is the true nature of the [Mutant].
We were tricked by Li Aozi into the game, but when the official launch started, our mentor vanished? What are we, the [Sovereign] series players, supposed to do?
And Frost Plated, everyone knows by now, is experiencing drastic changes under President David Lyn. With numerous tech restrictions lifted, Frost Plated is improving rapidly.
But how did Li Aozi promote it? He slandered Frost Plated to no end, making it sound terrible. Come on, we’re here to play a game. Frost Plated offers such good opportunities for leveling up and fighting monsters. Just register as a Bounty Hunter and grind for a month, and you can earn 6K Derby—enough to change a prosthetic a month. Can any other country offer that?
Seeing people still praise Li Aozi’s courage for breaking the Ersha blockade, I’m at a loss.
It was just pressing a nuclear button. What’s the big deal?
I checked the background lore, and nukes are used in any skirmish between the Four Nations.
Some of you devoted fans of Li, seriously, get real. You act like you have seizures when someone praises him but turn into braggarts the moment they let up, saying things like ’Our mentor is the main storyline character, leading players to space during the internal test.’
Hilarious. It was just an escape. Who can’t do that? And you call that a protagonist?
Besides, ever heard of the saying ’each version has its own gods’? Comparing the storyline protagonist from the internal test to our current public version? For all we know, Li Aozi and the [Sovereign] series might be removed in the next patch.
Under Ersha’s crimson-black skies, even the lowest-level [Mutant] of the [Sovereign] series would proudly puff out their chest at the thought of Li Aozi enjoying top-tier treatment in outer space with the best players.
Ugh, Li Aozi’s grace isn’t repayable, huh? Just some virtual code and pixels, giving some Starry Abyss fans intense cognitive dissonance.
Anyway, I’m just going to switch to the [Destroyer] series. After saving enough money, I’ll head to the Frost Plating Federation.
We experienced the most severe promotional scam in gaming history! After all this, Li Aozi and his [Sovereign] series seem utterly ridiculous to me.
