Chapter 446: 85. Vivid Demon Iron Sovereign (Part 1)
Velazquez Building, Nakis Countermeasure Group Meeting Hall.
Kale Stan hurried through the corridor, his personal communication device had been blown up with inquiries. Everyone was questioning him, the security chief, berating him for his dereliction of duty. Among them were some of his own superiors.
In normal times, Kale wouldn’t dare confront these executives with a thousand guts, always treating them amicably.
But now the situation was different. With Young Master Andrew personally presiding, Kale could only retort irritably.
For Velazquez, they were in an extremely difficult time.
He arrived at the door of the meeting hall. No soundproofing could block out the arguments and clamor for him, a veteran elite of the Zeta Rank, who could hear it from a distance.
"I’ve been here for five hours already, and you haven’t come up with a suitable plan!"
"Young Master Andrew, you have to understand, we’ve done all we can. Velazquez only has one hundred and twenty employees here, yet the Blood of Nakis is spread throughout the entire planet’s fortress,"
Kale listened intently. The speaker was Strategy Director Martin Chambler, who was desperately negotiating with Andrew and trying to calm the Half-Dragon Son’s anger with reason.
"If we rashly start operations, we will surely incur huge losses. Besides, we don’t have a Biochemist’s synthesis base here; it’s impossible to generate a large-scale living troops force in a short world..."
"Don’t you have money?" Andrew shouted: "Is it so hard to assemble a contingent of Valenkov’s auxiliary forces? Have you never suppressed a colony, or did all the money go into your own pockets?"
Andrew’s words were blunt and unpleasant. With his temperament, he must have witnessed a very serious mistake to lose his composure like this, which made Kale inwardly exclaim in alarm.
However, all was still well; he had anticipated that things wouldn’t develop favorably.
Knocking and entering the room, as soon as Kale was halfway in, he was immediately met by the fervently angry, magma-ball-like glare from Andrew’s Dragonborn pupils. The pressure from his bloodline made Kale stagger. He straightened his formal attire, and with a forced smile on his face, he saw he was performing better than his colleagues when his gaze swept over them.
The company executives, who were mighty and could make millions go bankrupt with a wave of their hand, were completely inconsequential before the family’s legitimate Half-Dragon Young Master. Whether it was in terms of bloodline, belief, or finances, they couldn’t compare at all.
Seeing Kale arrive, Chambler nodded slightly, quietly heaving a sigh of relief.
Even as a Steel Elf, one of the High Elves, with his silvery-gray skin and robust muscles, he felt a great pressure in front of Andrew. The latter’s lineage was noble, blessed by the great Chief God, Redd Gold, and couldn’t simply be viewed as a Zeta Rank.
"You’re finally here, our great bodyguard."
Chambler came over ostensibly patting Kale’s shoulder in what seemed like a gesture of sympathetic well-wishing for his difficult task ahead.
In reality, he communicated telepathically:
’Andrew has arrived aggressively; it seems the corporate headquarters is applying pressure.’
’What about the funds we misappropriated...’
’It’s likely not a secret anymore; might as well use this. The Blood of Nakis requires substantial manpower for ground collection. Didn’t you just recruit a local Alien security team? Expand it.’
’I understand. However, I have a better idea. The economy of those Aliens has already collapsed; it will be easy to recruit people.’
Telepathic communication was instantaneous. Kale hurried forward, handing over the documents he brought to Andrew:
"Young Master, the situation is urgent, so I’ll be direct. The situation in Valenkov is complicated; there are military facilities everywhere, and the fortress area is vast. Even if we can put together a Valenkov auxiliary force for ground operations... Don’t think they are impoverished now, but pointing guns at their own people is still very difficult."
Andrew’s expression was blank:
"I didn’t ask you to raise problems. To see problems and pose questions, even beggars can do that. You don’t receive an annual salary of four hundred and fifty thousand Ammonium Gold to do work akin to a beggar’s."
"Yes, you’re right!"
Kale, unfazed, continued:
"Building an armed force of Valenkov Aliens is unreliable and prone to backlash, but we can recruit test subjects by propagating that the Blood of Nakis is a dangerous fungus. Then those Aliens carrying the Blood of Nakis will come to us for treatment... This way, the labor we need to invest would be greatly reduced, just for reception and assembly, which even robots can do."
"That makes more sense."
Andrew flipped through the proposal, his expression finally easing:
"But you’d better still put together a team. I don’t care if you use brainwashing or money to buy them off. In any case, we don’t have much time. Within this month, we have to send 10 units of the Blood of Nakis to headquarters."
"I understand, clearly."
As Young Master Andrew’s temper cooled, Kale and the others around him finally exhaled in relief:
"Actually, Young Master Andrew, we already have 700 temporary workers from Valenkov. If we continue—"
Whump!
Before he could finish speaking, all the glass in the meeting room shattered instantaneously, the piercing sound explosions echoing continuously in the air.
All the faces changed color, and Kale immediately shielded Andrew with his body, blocking the shards of broken glass.
Backed by his hands, Andrew remained composed as all the bodyguards instantly surrounded him, activating Force Field Shields with the utmost professional competence, even though they knew well that the individual they were protecting was far stronger than themselves.
"Damn it, what’s happening?!"
Martin Chambler was thrown to the ground by the soundwave caused by the sonic boom, his iron-gray face filled with embarrassment as he turned to Kale, the company’s security chief.
"Kale!"
"I don’t know! Just a moment ago, that thing’s speed exceeded Mach 10, there was no time to notify anyone!"
Before Kale could finish speaking, another huge explosion sounded, and everyone in the conference room immediately felt unsteady on their feet as the building began to shake progressively.
It wasn’t until this moment that the alarm sounded belatedly, emitting a desolate feeling when paired with the broken office building.
"The load-bearing structures have been penetrated!" Kale continued communicating while listening to the report on the other end, shouting to his own people, "Everyone, get to the shelter, our Magic Department staff are activating the force field, don’t panic, this is a very common terrorist attack—"
He was cut off by a massive noise crashing down from the dome above.
It had arrived.
Whoosh-crack!
A dark silhouette tore through the sky, dragging a scarlet trail of lightning, and smashed directly toward the company building.
—Damn it, what kind of speed is this?!
Boom boom boom boom boom!
In just the blink of an eye, not even Zeta Rank experts could react in time, as the Lightning Blade, encompassing an immense force, punctured and disintegrated the ceiling of forty floors. Even more catastrophic, a series of explosions and roaring sounds, like ripples, continued to propagate, causing reverberations!
"Step aside. You bunch of good-for-nothings, witness a blessing from the deities."
Andrew stepped forward, hands behind his back, chest out, standing firmly in a particular spot. He nodded slightly, bowed his head, and murmured:
"O highest Goddess, you are the protector of capital, the goddess of the Syndicate, Sovereign Kartel, the soul of Konzien, the holy ancestor of Tolaras, you keep capital groups thriving, you let the economy grow freely, you allow countless private property owners to sleep soundly, please allow me to call your name in a whisper—"
Boom boom boom—crack!
The ceiling shattered, and the fierce Blade fell in an instant, Andrew didn’t even lift his head, arrogantly raising a single finger.
"In your name, Believer of Redd Gold, the Soul of Plunder, I pray to you—"
"I! Zaniya! Make a grand entrance!"
Before Andrew could finish his prayer, the ferocious roar had already fallen, and as the blood-red lightning exploded, Andrew, who had initially appeared calm and arrogant, his face changed instantly, his extended finger swiftly turned into an entire palm.
Zoom!
However, his reaction was a step too slow.
The palm carrying the blessing was accurately hit by the sword’s edge, and the protruded finger was instantly split and seared by the burst of electromagnetic energy.
Crack.
Andrew stood stiff in place.
His hand, suspended in midair, had its index finger neatly severed.
The slashing sword, blocked by the blessing’s divine power, lost its forward momentum and crashed heavily to the ground, like a tank hitting the pavement.
Clang!
Andrew looked down.
His lava-like eyes met a pair of emotionless golden crystal-like eyes with immense anger.
The smoke spread, and the other party was half-kneeling on the ground, seemingly examining him—as he was examining the other party.
"You."
Andrew drew back his hand, his Dragon Race lineage allowing him to regenerate his dismembered finger quickly, and the secreted venom also numbed the pain, but this did not quell his anger.
"Very good, very good indeed."
Today, he had encountered too many infuriating matters.
He rubbed the regenerate finger and said, chuckling:
"You dare to strike a God-Gifted, you did not just anger me, but you provoked the great deities—tell me, who gave you the courage, nameless assassin, to challenge a Blesser who can draw upon Divine Power!"
"Borrow Divine Power?"
From within the dust, a large figure clad in armor, holding a weapon, slowly stood up:
"I am the god."
