Meteor Fall Master in the 'Starry Abyss'
Chapter 330 - 136. The body of the newborn

Chapter 330: 136. The body of the newborn

Kariya couldn’t help but laugh bitterly at this outcome. Even from his position in the airborne command center, he could see the barrage of fire on the ground—this was simply not the kind of firepower one would expect from a battle involving merely a thousand soldiers.

Clearly, it was because the tactical training and combat strength of the troops under Li Aozi were too superior; the soldiers at the front line couldn’t hold up any longer and clamored for reinforcements.

Every army faces such situations; when confronted with formidable opponents, soldiers may falter, reluctant to push forward and engage in close combat without covering fire, thus they tend to exaggerate the strength of their enemies.

Fortunately, Kariya was commanding the People of Sky Ring.

The People of Sky Ring had faced enemies resurrected after death more than once, who then charged at them with explosives. Indifferently, they would gun down the opposition and report everything they saw amidst the splatter of scattered body parts back to headquarters.

Kariya was a rational commander. Although he was enraged by the ambush Li Aozi had orchestrated, he quickly regained his composure. He listened to the recommendations of the combat analysis department and carefully watched the videos of the repeatedly resurrecting ’Death Soldiers.’ Afterward, he almost effortlessly accepted the fact:

"Li Aozi has an Undead army with strong wills and high combat proficiency. They might only number eight hundred, but they don’t die instantly when killed. As long as they rest a bit and receive treatment, they can return to the fray."

The good news was that the Undead army wasn’t large in number, although the frontline soldiers reported that these Undead fought even more fiercely than rabid dogs.

The bad news was that this band of Undead possessed first-rate combat training. They reacted incredibly fast, and their internal communication and command faced no pressure. Even when the Sky Ring’s electronic warfare troops went all out to target them, at most it caused some of their cybernetic bodies to malfunction.

Many of them hadn’t even been implanted with cybernetics, yet their marksmanship was as ridiculously accurate as if they’d engaged an aiming assist. Among them, there were dozens who could lock onto a target with every shot, skillfully weaving through tight spaces as nimbly as eels. Samurai of Alpha Stage could easily outclass them one-on-one, but they couldn’t catch up with these Undead.

The average Undead soldier was equipped with at least two types of Arcane Energy, and their reconnaissance and damage capabilities posed a far greater threat than the beast waves from the Greening Base.

Most crucially, as more and more Sky Ring Warriors fell in battle, the equipment of these Undead kept getting better.

Initially, the Undead carried homemade weapons from the Outer World, with poor accuracy and firepower. But after they acquired the fallen Sky Ring Warriors’ equipment, the Undead’s firepower was upgraded, their mortality rate decreased, and they became even harder to handle.

The Sky Ring Warriors were fearless of death, but they truly could die. Those Undead, on the other hand, seemed to be treating their lives as if they were playing a game!

"Commander, we can’t keep going on like this."

The adjutant quickly cautioned:

"We can no longer allow the warriors to waste their lives in such a place. Sunny Garden has already become a meat grinder."

"I understand,"

Kariya nodded:

"Send a Mobile Armor, VH-09, that one will do. Let them enter the building to resolve the battle—no, make it two. Kill one Gamma Rank and then unleash the combat power of another Mobile Armor."

Killing prisoners was a regrettable necessity; high-rank prisoners could make him an illustrious warrior, but now keeping them would only cause internal strife.

He could only hope that these young men could end the battle swiftly and drive those Undead away.

The true objective of this mission was still Li Aozi.

"Understood."

Inside the vehicle holding prisoners at the rear, two physicians were monitoring the physiological status of the Gamma Rank Biochemist prisoner. Upon receiving the order, they hesitated not a moment to drop the prisoner they had just been taking care of into the incinerator.

Boom——————

The ashes were expelled from the vehicle, scattering on the ground. The Mobile Armor unit guarding it had now understood.

"Let’s move." The VH-10 unit leader, Shichui Shingo, glanced at the ashes on the ground: "It’s our turn."

"Understood."

As an ace unit entirely composed of Beta Rank members, they had strong operational capabilities. VH-09 caught up immediately. The two units, with eight members altogether, drove their ’Long Fang’ Mobile Armors straight into the heart of Sunny Garden’s headquarters.

Bang!

The reinforced concrete was instantly torn apart. With the help of the air cushion beneath the ’Long Fang,’ a flick of its arm, and the 40mm wrist cannon, it tore a Mutant Player maintaining the gravitational frontline on the first floor into shreds.

The high-explosive incendiary rounds spread fire everywhere. Players, in a near-death state, writhed as they tried to crawl away but were ignited and devoured by the flames.

In just an instant, 22 players returned bewildered to Triangle Town.

"What happened?"

"Was that Mobile Armor?"

"It’s actually a Gundam!"

The players had never before witnessed the might of the war machines of the Four Nations. Even though they performed exceptionally well in alley fights, they stood no chance against the Mobile Armors powered by four Beta Rank individuals collectively supplying Qi Energy, which could simply block their attacks with energy shields.

With the arrival of the Mobile Armors, the tide of the battle took a one-sided turn.

Hiding behind cover, the players tried to stop the Armored Suit with anti-vehicle missiles, but the pilot merely raised a hand and flattened them along with their cover into cement rubble.

"Just a bunch of physically Undead fools—ever since the advent of Mobile Armor, the Parade of a Hundred Demons has become a traditional holiday pastime."

The ’Long Fang’ looked much like an Evil Ghost with twin red horns; each of its four electronic eyes stored Spirit Medium-crafted curses, allowing it to easily identify and materialize spiritual bodies for physical eradication.

VH-10’s commander, Shichui Shingo, continually surveyed the surroundings, periodically taking a seat at the machine gun himself, proactively using the head-mounted cannon to shatter one load-bearing wall after another, ensuring those players with formidable firepower were crushed alive beneath them, unable to die or escape.

More players were sent back on the spot to the respawn point at Triangle Town, shocked by their own death record.

The Mobile Armor, as a nation-destroying weapon of the Four Nations, naturally had its reasons for existence.

At least on this planet, ninety percent of life forms couldn’t face a 30mm caliber high-explosive incendiary armor-piercing round, and the remaining ten percent couldn’t withstand a laser rifle with Qi Energy attached, after burst loading.

Its presence had directly shattered the once glorious status of the Gamma Rank, only requiring four Beta Rank youngsters to maintain the organism, which was much less costly than thawing and sustaining the life of a Gamma Rank, with no need to worry about loyalty, and even providing plenty of job opportunities and the emergence of private enterprises.

Even during peacetime, the Red Arrow Empire had no Gamma Ranks, relying solely on the terrifying number of 4,300 Mobile Armors to maintain their dominant status.

But the People of Sky Ring have a reverence for the strong in their bones, especially individual powerhouses, which is why their Mobile Armor went the route of elite special modification, boasting considerable single-combat prowess.

Not only could the players not defeat them, but even the Red Arrow People dared not claim they could beat the special-modified organisms of the Sky Ring People in one-on-one combat with the same level of main battle Mobile Armor.

The two Long Fang models looked similar, but the differences inside were enormous. The players exhausted all their tricks and couldn’t even scratch the paint.

Once the Sky Ring Warriors received their Mecha reinforcements, their morale immediately soared, and they howled as they charged at the players. They threw electromagnetic lines, net guns, and iron forks, entangling some players who didn’t move in time.

"Capture them alive! Send those Undead to the Houjo Clan for experiments!"

The cries of the warriors immediately woke the players.

"We can’t win; we have to retreat!"

Caramel Snail’s right leg was shattered by machine gun fire, decisively pulling out his pistol and shooting himself in the head. The next moment, he respawned back in Triangle Town, surrounded by sparkles of light, each one a player who had committed suicide to return.

Today’s respawn chances were only down to one, he glanced at the mission countdown—3 hours to go before the launch.

"We’re definitely going to fight a positional war now." A player next to him lamented, "If it weren’t for us being unable to deal with the Mobile Armor, we could’ve killed more Sky Ring Soldiers."

"It’s impossible; our level has already reached the version cap." Another person said helplessly, "If only we could unlock Level 20, but the officials won’t let us advance to Alpha Stage. It’s going to be tough from here on out."

Caramel Snail looked around, somewhat blankly touching his head:

"Speaking of which... where is Li Aozi?"

Boom!

The commander of ZH-10, Shichui Shingo, was forcefully extracted from the burning cockpit by a sturdy hand, the neural link at his back swiftly cut off, the massive flood of information assaulted his brain, he wailed in pain while forcing himself up, raising his pistol toward the towering horror before him, and pulled the trigger.

Bang bang bang bang bang bang bang!

Seven .50 caliber high stopping-power bullets hit the opponent’s depleted uranium armor, not leaving even a white mark. The towering biochemical monster lifted its foot calmly and firmly, crushing his face.

Crack.

Like the crisp sound of popping bubble wrap, decompressing and oddly endearing, accompanied by a slowly spreading mixture of white and red fluid, only the whistling of the wind remained amidst the ruins of the Sunny Garden.

Silence.

Two wrecked Mobile Armors lay collapsed on the ground, their ends identical—their thinnest armor on top had been pierced through, the hatches above rudely torn asunder, followed by inexplicable fires and explosions inside.

The deep blue biochemical organism stood upright, its sharply angled armor covering its entire body, tightly constraining the rough and wild biochemical muscles.

It was very tall, with a well-built physique like a hill but with excellent body proportions, like a powerful Tyrannosaurus with strong and powerful legs stamping on the earth. Its lower jaw, exaggerated like that of a carnivorous dinosaur, was also wrapped with a polymer fiber material mask. Three sets of deep purple compound eyes were vertically arranged, taking up nearly a third of its face, offering a tremendously broad range of vision in return.

The built-in biodynamic tubing continued outputting, and the calcium-alloy hydraulic pumps regulated the terrifying power of the heart, keeping the Implant Gear at the peak of its performance.

"Want to go again?"

The Implant Armor did not open its mouth, but a synthesized voice came directly through the radio channel, the six compound eyes mockingly looking towards the distant Sky Ring Army, saying:

"I don’t mind tearing down two more of your Mechas."

Kariya Asaichi’s pupils contracted:

"Who on earth are you?!" he demanded.

"Just a passing Mutant Professional Instructor, because someone took revenge as a consumer, I’m about to hit Gamma Stage, that’s all."

The Biochemical Armor lifted its claws, the six purple eyes instantly covered with red and black:

"Remember this well."

[Overseer Form activated]

"Sky Ring Ghosts, you must understand: even among the strong, there are hierarchies."

[DOMINATE EVERYTHING]
