Meteor Fall Master in the 'Starry Abyss'
Chapter 329: Flesh Mill 135

Chapter 329: Flesh Mill 135

The samurai had not been slaughtering the Greening Base for long before they were ambushed by players.

"These idiots," Li Aozi peered at the battlefield and sneered, "does Sky Ring really think that I would care about the life and death of the Greening Base?"

The Greening Base is the craziest of the three major organizations in the Outer World. If the players were to dig up the tree roots in the greenhouses right now, they would immediately find guts and flesh.

Perhaps even fresh ones.

The Greening Base is a group of lunatics, no less insane than the Mingji Professor. They spread the doctrine of restoring greenery to the outside world, and for environmental protection and the restoration of natural ecosystems, they willingly became corrupted into monsters under Lord Entropy in version 2.5 and turned against humanity.

As for the civilians—most of them carry bacteria researched by the Greening Base, and in the later stages, they would frequently blow themselves up in residential areas and transport ports to ’save the forests,’ causing terrorist attacks.

Humans traitors versus Sky Ring ghosts, Li Aozi delighted in watching the two factions fight like dogs.

Rockets, grenades, collisions of guns, blades, swords, and halberds—the players emerged from who knows where in the rooms, launching frequent attacks around the corners of alleyways.

Normally, with the Sky Ring Warriors’ ability to adapt, even sudden attacks wouldn’t put them at a disadvantage. However, they quickly realized something was wrong.

These people... their tactical awareness, movements, and marksmanship were totally not on the level of the Outer World.

This batch of beta testers, apart from the total newbie Caramel Snail, the rest were backed by long-term gaming experience and studios. They were well-trained. Plus, the addition of in-game voice communication by Qiqiao Network in the beta version greatly enhanced the communication and coordination among pick-up groups, boosting their mobilization abilities.

Night Fighting Sword, relying on the rented "Eye of Truth," locked on to his target.

He activated "Gravity" to distort light, cloaking himself invisibly in the corner and slowly charged into the Sky Ring Warriors’ medical support personnel.

"Coexist Technique"

As they were saving the wounded, Night Fighting Sword suddenly sprung into action, unsheathing his long sword. Gravity accelerated the sword several times faster. With agile and crisp movements, he ran and swiftly swung his sword, skillfully turning his body, utilizing the speed boost from gravity amplification to dismember and decapitate the light-armored medics. Finally, he gently shook his blade, flicking off the fresh blood, and slipped back into invisibility.

"Burst Loading"

"Qi Power Amplification"

Cumin Powder’s eyes swirled with blue flames, each of his hands holding a 12.7mm caliber heavy machine gun, a stimulant needle clutched in his teeth, expressionlessly advancing while pulling the trigger, providing a reassuring cover of firepower for the players. The rest of the infantry players didn’t care about the risk of friendly fire, howling as they charged forward to clash with the regular Sky Ring forces.

Yutianxiao was very cunning—benefiting from the attack on the Greening Base, no one cared to manage network security. He simply hacked the electrical devices in the building under the cover of his teammates’ fire, creating short circuits that caused sporadic intense flickering. In such visual conditions, the Sky Ring Warriors had to remove their night vision goggles and rely on their eyesight to fight against the players indoors.

They all rented Li Aozi’s "Eye of Truth," fighting unrestrainedly in the fluctuating light.

Garidon, as a professional player, had to play the role of a regular infantry due to not having a high enough level—although he was just a reserve. But his luck was quite good; among the 800 players who joined Li Aozi’s dare-to-die team, there were two main players from their ’Old Chilly Oil’ team, both of whom had reached the current version limit of level 15. Garidon simply handed over all his purchased equipment to the two pros.

With the equipment boost, the two main professional players instantly unleashed terrifying power. They took Garidon with them and engaged in guerrilla warfare with the Sky Ring Warriors in the narrow cluttered ruins. Using kite-flying tactics, they managed to kill four Sky Ring Warriors in succession.

While the gap in raw strength couldn’t be completely compensated for by skill and awareness, the machines purchased from Du Zexin, the equipment from the Lord of Oakland, and various kinds of Arcane Energy rented from Li Aozi certainly could.

Apart from the "Eye of Truth," which everyone had, Li Aozi fully opened up the leased market, temporarily listing all his Arcane Energy for rental.

However, somewhat counterintuitively, the highest grade "Gravity," other than a few professional players, almost no one rented it.

Most people simply couldn’t grasp how to use "Gravity." On the other hand, the "Mechanics" liked using "Gravity" to turn their stationary turrets into floating turrets that flew everywhere, chasing and beating the enemy.

But the players clearly had no interest in such flashy stuff. Most of the "Redemption" series players chose "Mountain Armor," "Severing Life," and "Blood of Eternity," as they were responsible for healing and enduring damage.

The players’ death mechanism already allowed them to linger on the battlefield persistently and even use kamikaze tactics, embracing 40 kilograms of explosives to perish with the enemy, swapping one for one and profiting in blood. Now empowered by "Blood of Eternity," they fought even more aggressively, trading life for life.

"Destroyer" series players had a variety of choices, high-level players preferred to use "Gravity" in combination with "Pegasus Power", they needed extreme operational space and output capabilities. Although, due to their low "Charm" levels, the amplification effect of Arcane Energy wasn’t as terrifying as that of Leo, the presence of "Gravity" suddenly freed their movements.

Originally only capable of rolling, sliding, and wall-jumping on the ground, they now began to maneuver mysteriously in the air like mosquitoes. The ceiling became the new foothold; in the air, they could change directions and accelerate multiple times. The existence of gravity allowed them to liberate the time it took for vibrations and bounce when they landed and collided, turning CS into something akin to Titanfall.

More players chose "Spontaneous Combustion" to enhance their damage output. Early in the game, there weren’t many magic damage occupations, and the Sky Ring Soldiers’ armor was too resistant to bullets. Thus, the high magic damage and true damage from "Spontaneous Combustion" became the preferred choice for most players.

Players of the "Fine Artistry" series had all rented the "Eye of Truth" to increase their precision and vision. Their energy was precious early on—they used a bit less every time they could, and they basically wouldn’t cast spells if they could use guns.

Leo hadn’t misled them—choosing the right Arcane Energy could really greatly amplify their combat power.

The best example was Caramel Snail, a newbie with outstanding talent in the Martial Way. His biggest problem wasn’t poor equipment but a lack of experience. Poor control was one aspect; it was easy for him to suffer from a lack of awareness and experience in combat.

But after Leo rented him the "Inscription Saint Swordmaster," he transformed into a great swordmaster, rapidly increasing his kill count in close combat, even nearly catching up to the professional player known as Night Fighting Sword.

The most puzzled were the "Mutant" players. They watched others use Arcane Energy in combination with their professional skills, fighting back and forth with the Sky Ring Warriors while they could only silently output using Arcane Energy and firearms, unnoticed by anyone.

However, this did not hinder them. After purchasing jewelry equipment from Leo, the "Mutants," whose power in Arcane Energy quickly increased, gradually became the main damage dealers on the battlefield.

They were originally a profession specialized in Arcane Energy. The main attribute of other professions almost had no bonus to Arcane Energy, not to mention, after the "Mutants" wore Leo’s jewelry, everyone’s "Charm" was stacked to over 20 points.

Gravity Compression—15 times!

The originally light and sturdy armor of the Sky Ring Warriors immediately became a heavy burden, making it almost impossible for them to move. The "Mutant" players formed a human wall, their eyes emitting a golden glow, casting an insurmountable wall of gravity ahead of them.

The Sky Ring Warriors, in their eagerness to swiftly slaughter civilians, were too scattered inside the Greening Base. The fire support that should have arrived was being fought over between squads and small groups.

Many commanders of the Sky Ring Warriors watched helplessly as enemies that could have been eliminated with one bombardment were left because the follow-up fire cover couldn’t keep up, leading to their comrades and subordinates being fired upon and slaughtered by those weak makeshift forces.

What a disgrace! Who could swallow such humiliation!

The frontline officers immediately started cursing in the communication channels, and the small teams even fell out over the priority of fire support, arguing furiously with each other.

"Damn it, what the hell are you doing? How did it turn into this mess?!"

Kariya cursed loudly, requiring the Grand Yin Yang Master to cast several spells of hypnosis to normalize the troops.

"Commander Kariya! We’ve been attacked by an unidentified target; the enemy has no uniform or identification codes, but they have tactical coordination and command."

The existence of the "Eye of Truth" was a deadly hit for the people of Sky Ring in street fighting. Since their troops had already penetrated deep into the buildings, it was nearly impossible for fighter jets to bomb—after all, they couldn’t just eliminate their own people along with the enemy, could they?

The Mobile Armor still had to watch over the captured Biochemists of the Greening Base. Although these old guys couldn’t match the complete Gamma Rank power of the people of Sky Ring, they were still Gamma Rank, and without those elite Beta Rank vehicle crews suppressing them, they could cause big trouble in a matter of minutes.

By this point, Kariya Asaichi had already sobered up:

"This is a trap. Leo is purposely using the Greening Base as a battlefield."

In just thirty minutes, the number of units that had gone offline on the war platform had already surpassed 74, and regarding the number of enemies eliminated, based on the consumption of weapons and battle footage reviews, the command estimated a terrifying figure:

"With so many weapons, theoretically, we should have defeated 1300 people."

What a joke? 1300 people—that’s nearly twice the number of the convoy initially spotted.

Missiles killed a bunch, the escape routes were blocked, and these survivors had no support. The number couldn’t exceed 200 people.

Yet, 1300 people... haha, did they think he hadn’t studied? Could the number of people increase the more they fought? Did they think the enemy was an undead monster, able to resurrect after death?
