Meteor Fall Master in the 'Starry Abyss' -
Chapter 300 - 116. Escape from Qiong’anjing
Chapter 300: 116. Escape from Qiong’anjing
Houjo Tower, all was safe and sound.
The Nine Dragons Gathering went on as usual, the members continued to work and clock in, each person here bearing important tasks and a national mission. From their very first day at the company, they were indoctrinated with the belief that "you are the future of the country! The pride of the nation! You must never fall!"
Even though there had just been gunfire and explosions outside, the staff of Houjo Group remained calm. The executives sat together sipping Zhengxu-imported coffee, discussing prospects with Red Arrow’s technical jargon, and some people even had Frost Plated beauties sitting in their floating cars.
Everyone here was a person of Sky Ring, equal before the law. However, as the corporate saying went: although everyone was born with equal rights, some people were more equal than others.
"Did you hear that a Red Arrow person caused a scene at the gathering and even got the military’s attention?"
Someone saw the billowing black smoke in the distance and couldn’t help expressing their concern:
"Is he really just a Beta Rank? I heard that he has already killed two Gamma Rank, and we only have four Gamma. But they’re still in the office. Wouldn’t it be better to take shelter for a bit?"
"Mr. Kato, these thoughts are not in line with the company’s creed. Toiling and striving for overtime is the fighting spirit that we Houjo people should have. Only the failures of society, who demand to clock out on time, would think like that. As elites who enjoy the favor and blessings of the Ring King, we naturally bear greater obligations. Besides..."
His superior joked, not noticing at all that his subordinate was turning paler as he stared out of the window, and calmly said:
"—We are in Houjo Tower, the safest place in the world."
Boom!
A crimson Magnum laser tore apart the dome’s defense system in an instant. A wave of heat from the sudden high temperature shattered the floor-to-ceiling glass. What followed was a pale, large Mobile Armor crashing directly through the steel-reinforced concrete walls, Du Zexin casually picked up the monitor’s Fire God Cannon and swept the sky for a few seconds, before coldly announcing over the broadcast:
"Anyone who doesn’t want to die, clock out now!"
Although the proportion of Transcendents in the Houjo Group was extremely high, when it came to Mobile Armor... no one had the guts to stand up against it.
Especially not when the thing in front of them was at least twice the size of an ordinary Mobile Armor.
Du Zexin’s threat was very effective. Most people scrambled to escape, punching out and heading home. There were so many of them that the clocking-out machines were overwhelmed.
Li Aozi slid to a crouch, hiding next to Du Zexin’s foot, feeling for the first time the thrill of ’borrowing the tiger’s fierceness.’
Houjo Group’s security was naturally not shabby, but when faced with such a large Mecha, they dropped their weapons and surrendered immediately—Houjo didn’t pay them enough to go against a Mobile Armor.
On his way here, Li Aozi had picked up quite a few of Houjo Group’s advanced weapons, couldn’t help whistling in admiration, and prepared to hang them in the air with Gravity, planning to sell them to players.
He felt that he was truly conscientious. In his pig-farming business, he was diligent and task-oriented. The players had only been playing for five days, yet they were already armed to the teeth with his benefits, resembling street Overlords. With this batch of military weapons in hand, the players would become like Dragons among men.
Du Zexin was paving the way in a manner most satisfying. Li Aozi had never used a so handy tool... uh, he meant partner. No one stood in their way. Anything obstructing them was flattened by a stomp from Du Zexin, who also held Li Aozi in his hand. Coupled with the weapons hanging mid-air due to Gravity, anybody witnessing this fantastical and sci-fi-mixed scene would crash their brains and have no capacity to resist.
"This is the elevator."
Li Aozi poked the elevator button, only to find that it required an Identity Card to operate. He looked at Du Zexin:
"Up there, Meibei. Hack its System."
"It’ll take three minutes to hack, too troublesome. I’ll just use social engineering."
Du Zexin, unceremoniously, lifted his Mecha’s fist. The Thruster in the elbow ignited, pounding the elevator car with a punch.
Boom!
Metal distorted, instantly crumpled, Mecha’s fingers split apart, and sparks flew as the elevator was torn open.
Li Aozi asked Du Zexin, "Where did you learn social engineering?"
"Twin Star City Martial Arts and Education College, seven-day crash course."
"Good school."
Li Aozi said with a sigh, then jumped down the elevator shaft.
After a long fall, Gravity allowed him to land smoothly at the bottom. He reached out to pull open the steel door, and as he raised his head, he saw a Whale fly above, swimming leisurely in the blue Abandon Mist.
He didn’t have the time to admire the view. The underground area here was vast, and he had to explore quickly. Activating Pegasus Wings, he swiftly flew through the Abandon Mist. The creatures blocking his way were smashed by him. A dolphin was torn in half by his wings, but it merely shook itself and reassembled, the mosaic-like wounds fluctuating rapidly before slowly healing, continuing to swim freely in the simulated seabed of the Abandon Mist.
Bang, bang, bang!
Li Aozi’s speed reached Mach 6. Using the Eye of Truth, he swept the area, and a massive amount of information was rapidly integrated and calculated by the omnipotent cells throughout his body, decoding the hidden resources and information in the area.
Houjo Clan had concealed many things here, including old era inscriptions and records, but Li Aozi already knew about them from his previous life.
For instance, the ’Law System’ Becaliria, an ultra-sophisticated artificial intelligence created by humans of a former era, which could utilize machinery buried in Earth’s Core to provide Strength support to the judiciary across the entire atmospheric layer, facilitating their Judgment and arresting criminals.
