Chapter 288: 107. Pursuit
"Heh, that’s all! Mere radiation is nothing compared to my perfect body."
What qi energy practice, what firearms, in the face of absolute physical strength, they are all just fleeting clouds.
"With this Cross Spear in hand, a warrior should gloat even in the yellow springs, as the winter chill gently brushes their face."
Lii Yuping San, smug with satisfaction, casually deflected a slice that was less than 300 Roentgens of radiation. It was the Crane School’s focus on bodily enhancement that truly represented the right path for a Gamma Rank Martial Artist.
With one cut, Li Aozi’s onslaught slowed slightly; he felt extremely uncomfortable as the stabbing qi energy penetrated his veins, disrupting his bodily systems.
Was he really too arrogant—But even so, that idiotic monk soldier was still foolishly taking his radiation slashes head-on.
Li Aozi patted his chest, and the "Severing Life" and "Death Link" status effects immediately afflicted the other party. With this, the continuous radiation damage would keep healing him, keeping Li Aozi alive and sparing him the use of the "Blood of Eternity".
He saved it as a trump card, especially since his chest had been eroded by qi energy, which continued to sap health, dragging both Chu Wei and Lii Yuping San down with him.
The monk soldier, Lii Yuping San, tough and resilient, was not at all concerned about Li Aozi’s little trick. Releasing an acupuncture point to assume a stance, he immediately charged at him again with his long spear, his Dominator Body combined with the long weapon—the advantage of a Crane School Martial Artist in single combat, which Li Aozi’s "Pegasus Power" clearly exhibited as he slashed at the opponent’s spearhead with his sword.
However, with a spear in hand, Lii Yuping San slightly twisted his backhand, and the spear deviously changed direction, jabbing Li Aozi’s foot and stopping his approach with sword against spear. Quickly retracting the spear tip, he blocked Li Aozi’s falling Tachi; as a Crane School Martial Artist, he possessed immense strength. Grabbing the long shaft with both hands, with a simple lever principle, he flicked the spearhead upward, overturning Li Aozi on the spot.
"Idiot, a true Sword Saint goes to battle wielding a long pole!"
Lii Yuping San burst into laughter, but his fighting style was extremely treacherous and cautious, as he pursued Li Aozi relentlessly with his long spear.
This Cross Spear, akin to a Trident, allowed the two side blades to easily block swords, and Li Aozi obviously knew the advantage of length; after being flipped, he immediately changed direction in mid-air and retreated.
However, the waiting Ranger had been long prepared; Li Aozi’s evasive maneuver, though mysteriously unpredictable, was sadly not fast enough to escape a Gamma Rank’s eyes.
She immediately raised her 55-mm anti-armor sniper rifle, and single-handedly loaded a terrifying bullet; time seemed to slow down tremendously from her perspective.
"Cold Focus"
"Burst Loading"
"Death Mark"
"Hunting Trigger"
Yin Shuya activated the intelligent aiming system, her gun muzzle, magnetic-like, unwaveringly followed Li Aozi’s form. As a Gamma Rank, the implants in her body far exceeded any mortal’s imagination; her eyes glowed dark blue with energy, the barrel infused with qi energy, while her brain coldly calculated dozens of Li Aozi’s trajectories. The nimble trigger, linked to her qi energy, ready to be pulled on a mere thought, igniting the primer with no delay whatsoever.
Mortals always believe Gamma Rankers don’t need technological assistance, but this is utterly wrong. If anything, Gamma Rankers backed by powerful nations wield weapons technology that mortals can’t even fathom.
Boom!
The trigger was pulled, and Li Aozi, who was moving at high speed, was struck directly; his upper body was blown to pieces, yet he was unfazed. "Death Link" transferred the damage to Chu Wei and Lii Yuping San, while "Severing Life" drew in another breath, allowing rapid regeneration to complete.
"Motherf—! What kind of monster is this?!"
Yin Shuya, momentarily stunned, cursed profusely.
Li Aozi landed on the hilt of the greatsword, sliding the blade back into its case, not waiting for the mechanism to transform back, as a low growl and the sound of tearing air resounded behind him.
He dodged the Spirit Fox’s swipe with a tilt of his head; the massive fox leaped dozens of meters high, deliberately spiraling in the air. Just when Li Aozi thought it was about to land, it suddenly raised its claws, touching down with its hind feet, and it just wouldn’t come down.
Just as he relaxed, the pale fox paw suddenly smashed down again, and Li Aozi hastily retreated, only to find that the fox was just a blur, its mischievous eyes lighting up with the same eerie blue as the Spirit Medium that summoned it.
All of a sudden, the white fox hit the ground, rolling like a bulldozer, charging toward Li Aozi in an instant.
"Damn it— the classic Mind Reading Technique of the Spirit Medium."
Li Aozi cursed a swear word.
Compared to Shamans, players always hated Spirit Mediums more; it was this disgusting Mind Reading Technique that allowed the Spirit Mediums to share thoughts with the summoned Spiritual Bodies, making them as readable as commands and scripts to the players, able to dodge any skill and leaving your attacks impossible to evade.
Li Aozi had nowhere to hide, the distance too close to accelerate in time, and was directly struck by the fox’s back, flung over two hundred meters away, crashing into a cluster of buildings. The white fox accelerated its sprint and with the help of the Spirit Medium, it kept blinking forward, stepping on the torii and biting onto Li Aozi, flinging him towards the evacuated plaza. Seizing the opportunity, Li Aozi immediately adjusted his position mid-air and accelerated toward the residential area.
"Pursue and kill him, Spirit Fox!"
Imperial Bell Deer, seeing Li Aozi deliberately diving into the bustling crowd, clicked her tongue and stepped into the Spirit Realm Walk, instantly crossing a two-kilometer distance, releasing a talisman that crashed into Li Aozi’s inevitable path.
"Resentment Talisman: Wall of Evil Spirits!"
The yellow paper talisman instantly burst into blue-green ghost flames, summoning countless wronged souls and evil ghosts to form an insurmountable wall, standing tall right in front of Li Aozi.
Li Aozi, without hesitation, twisted and turned, and crashed directly into the concrete of a neighboring office building, shattering load-bearing walls in succession, with the white fox hot on his heels, digging between floors, spitting Spirit Fire Orbs, the cat and mouse chase through desks and server rooms caused the three hundred meter tall skyscraper to be severed at mid-height, wobbling and gradually tilting towards the ground.
Li Aozi rolled on the spot, tore open the elevator shaft with his sword, and jumped into it, avoiding the Spirit Fox’s bite. The fox promptly dived into the shaft as well; Li Aozi slashed the elevator cable and grabbed onto the elevator above, rocketing upwards, while the Spirit Fox, unable to keep its footing on the elevator car, plummeted down, the massive weight instantly turning the elevator shaft into scrap metal.
"Roar!"
The white fox growled in frustration, its Spirit Medium not yet close enough to read Li Aozi’s tactical thoughts, and instead, it was trapped in the elevator shaft, the exposed rebar ensnaring it, momentarily losing sight of Li Aozi.
But in the next moment, the white fox pricked up its ears, suddenly raising its head.
Blood of Eternity— stack
Spontaneous Combustion— stack
Boom!
"Two as one— Phoenix Bomb!"
The surging flames burst forth instantly, and within the scorching sea of fire that incinerated everything, the white fox’s figure was charred and eroded, its Spirituality desiccated beneath the pure flames, wailing miserably, rolling and tumbling, as if calling out loudly for help in the dimming vision.
All it was met with, was the Light-Forged Blade slashing down towards its head.
Li Aozi’s body rapidly reformed in the flames, and lifting the Dust Sealed Sanctum, he struck directly at the head of the white fox that had fallen to the ground!
"Pffft—"
The white fox’s screams stopped abruptly as its body turned into spiritual ashes in the fire, followed by a loud transforming noise as the entire skyscraper could no longer withstand the explosion; the 63 floors above collapsed to the ground, thunderously crashing down.
Li Aozi turned around and flew straight up into the sky; his chest still remained in throbbing pain— those were the wounds left by Chu Wei. Without looking, he knew there must be a huge area of muscle that had been shredded and necrotized by Qi Energy, and after a few more struggles, his health bar dramatically hit rock bottom.
Just then, the shattering sound of Spiritual Power moving at high speed came through the sky.
The Grand Yin Yang Master of the Sky Ring had finally lost patience and took it upon himself to come out.
